The staff here are beyond amazing! Very friendly and conscientious to food allergies and dietary restrictions, plus had plenty of recommendations and advice, relatively quick service and the food was really good too!

Skippity dippity doo! This place was lit. I was so glad to hear Gus’s was in California. Top notch fried chicken as always. Great sides, particularly the okra and the greens. All the fried stuff had that great crunch you’re looking for. And of course, you gotta end with some pie. Only thing missing was some southern iced tea.

One of the best fried chicken spots! Not only is the chicken on point and cooked perfectly every time, but each table comes with its own bottle of Louisiana. so no need to ask for tons of hot sauce. Mac and cheese fire too!

I was excited to try Gus’s “World Famous” Fried Chicken. Went to the Santa Ana location. For a $30 chicken dinner, I expected the chicken to be fresh. I could tell they served me yesterday’s chicken. Ummm…the greens were from a can. If you’re gonna use can greens at least try and “jazz” them up a bit! For the price it was not worth it!

Didn't get to try it... No parking but when I made it inside, the place had a smell? It was the smell of actual trash.
The 2 stars are for the staff who was kind and answered my questions, but when i went to take that deep breath of fried chicken-that was not what I smelled.
I was glad I needed to move my car. I thanked them and left and went and grabbed pizza instead.

Simply the greatest fried chicken I’ve ever had. I’ve had Gus across a number of cities now, and there’s simply nothing better when it comes to fried chicken. Forget Korean-styled fried chicken, Nashville Hot chicken etc — this is the real deal. Bonus: the coleslaw and beans are ALSO fantastic.

Bit too spicy for me. Collard greens are delicious

One of the workers Gia used to be such a pleasant person she's the reason why we always came back. But lately they have new staff and everybody around there is either on their phone or they just don't have any good customer service. We dined here 6/21/25 The lady with glasses seems to have an attitude and not very sociable. Then The large cole slaw i ordered was dry, The greens were bland and my daughters chicken tenders weren't cooked throughly. Sad I live 90 minutes away and drive specifically to this location and I was not a happy person this last trip.

Good juice chicken with some heat in the taste. The fried pickles and green tomatoes were also good. That being said the season fries were under-seasoned, the baked beans were okay, and the coleslaw was decent. I had 2 piece wing and breast dinner and my daughters had the 3 piece tenders meal with drinks. I spent $92.00, the chicken was juice and had good flavor but not $92 worth. Sorry, Gus. You have a cool restaurant with great servers (the young lady who helped us was amazing).
