Pretty disappointing experience. The chicken was extremely hard and chewy, to the point where it was difficult to eat. I even asked the waitress if it was supposed to be like that, and she told me it was normal and that all the chicken was the same. It didn’t taste fresh and definitely wasn’t what I expected based on all the hype. The sides were okay, but the quality of the chicken really ruined the meal. Unfortunately, I don’t see myself coming back.

My wife was served a chicken breast that was raw on the inside when she cut into it this past weekend. We notified our server, and the manager came over to our table and apologized up and down. He told us he already talked to the team about it and provided a discount on our meal. They remade everything, but by the time the food came out we had lost our appetite.

Gus's was one of my favorite restaurants - we'd visit every month or two when we were driving through the area and had never had a bad experience until now - but I don't think I can go back after that. We were dining with our one year old daughter and had we served her undercooked chicken the consequences could have been catastrophic. Fortunately/unfortunately this was so undercooked it was obviously raw and I don't think I can trust their food again. Not sure how a restaurant that only serves chicken doesn't have a better protocol to ensure food quality and safety. Zero stars.

Chicken is so good and tasty. About service, there was just one young girl with glasses doing all the work, taking order on the phone and packing order to go while the rest of girls (about 6) just chilling and clowning around.

Went on a Friday evening after work. I ordered a 3 piece with 2 sides to go. I sat down to wait for my food and the staff asked if I would like to try a complementary ice tea. Tell you the truth, it was amazing. Great place to sit and eat. The vibe and inside was great.

Place never disappoints. Absolute lava chicken 🍗 that has just the right spice. Apparently they have a chicken sandwich that’s not on the menu but I already ordered my half chicken, okra, Mac, and greens. 🥬 the collards were good but a little under seasoned the Mac was super creamy but the chicken was the star of the show. Crispy, not too greasy and just the right kick. It’s a must if you’re going through downtown Santa Ana.

Went here after finding out Long Beach location closed. Took my order over the phone and the guy was super helpful, he even advised me that the greens had pork in them in case that was a deal killer for me. Ordered the half chicken with okra, greens, and beans. Everything was really tasty except for the okra was a little bland.

The chicken is so good!! Especially with the bottle of hot sauce they provide. We always start off with fried green tomatoes. The breading is light, non greasy and the green tomatoes have such a nice tangy taste. Goes so well with the ranch dressing. And the sweet potato pie? Heaven! We were so full after our meal today so we took a whole pie home to enjoy later for dessert. This place is a gem!

I read the reviews and thought I'd give it a shot. We visited last year but left as soon as we went in. There was a dank smell that hit you as soon as you walk in the door. I thought that was a thing of the past but it wasn't. Educate me... Is that what peanut oil smells like?
I am not a fan of the chicken. The bread tasted like regular store white bread. The beans tasted like it was fresh out of a can. Sorry guys....
