Hobie Restaurant at John Wayne Airport is a surprisingly awesome spot to grab a bite before your flight! I stopped by for their tacos, and wow—they did not disappoint. The fish tacos were fresh, flavorful, and packed with perfectly crispy fish, tangy slaw, and a creamy sauce that tied it all together. The carne asada tacos were equally delicious, with tender, well-seasoned steak and just the right amount of toppings. For airport food, this is next-level good. The vibe is laid-back...
We ordered a beer and we were given the 20 oz instead of the 14 oz. And since glasses don't have ounces on them, we thought they were the regular size. In my experience of ordering beer when there is more than one size, the server always asks which size. When we questioned our server she said she always serves the larger size unless someone asks for the smaller. That is opposite of my experience.
I had a sandwich and an iced tea, and with tip it came out to $30. Not terrible. Just… not quite worth it. The fruit wasn’t ripe either (and fruit in a California August should be stellar). Halfway through, I realized I would’ve rather walked to Carl’s Jr. and called Hobie simply a character-building...
