Let me start off by saying, I never like to write a bad yelp review, especially when it's for a place that I've had bookmarked for ages... The service was totally fine, you order & pay before sitting down in a not wonderfully ventilated seating area. I got the Chicken Parm Sando & my boyfriend got the Giant Cali Burrito. I got a shake, he got a drink and it was a little more expensive than I anticipated but I didn't care so much about that. The wait was honestly entirely too long for really below par food. Everything was just really...soggy. Like absurdly soggy, neither of us could really finish our meals & we left feeling pretty crappy. My motto is, "I'll try anything twice" (and that renews every 4 years) but I don't think I'll be returning :(

This place is delicious! I tried it the first time a couple months back. Had the mozzarella sticks and nachos. I have a dairy allergy so I am willing to pay a little extra to ensure no cross contamination. I was craving there nachos today and noticed they are closed for construction! Can't wait for them to open back up.

Just an incredible vegan food experience. Cannot wait to go back and try more things on the menu. Everything was delicious and huge.

PLEASE SEE FIRST REVIEW IN THE PHOTOS ... Wanted to updated refund incident, and it changed the entire review. Then they lied and said they gave us a refund, and we had to inconveniently drive out of our way to go into the restaurant and request a receipt for the refund, only to find out that they never gave us a refund.

You order up front at there counter then they bring the food to you. It's so yummy. The food comes out quick and hot. I definitely reccomend this restaurant.'

This place is a true diner, lots of options and super greasy. The vcmuffin is so bomb and I appreciate the gluten free option. The strawberry cheesecake vcflurry is insane.Their website has been broken for some time so it’s very difficult to find the gluten free options or the menu in general due to this. I’ve had to call a few times. The food is very heavy just as a warning. But it’s truly delightful and a must if you are looking to chow down.

It was great. I'm not vegan by a longshot, but I couldn't tell the difference with the Nachos Supreme. They also had a "kids style" cheeseburger deluxe that my daughter liked. The public parking next door also made it an easy stop.

My one and only experience at this restaurant was horrible. Not only do I suggest that you don’t got but encourage your friends to go somewhere else.I was there recently and my experience was so bad, I didn’t know that restaurants were capable of messing up to such a degree. To begin with, I spent nearly $30 on a regular burger with fries and a milkshake and my food was literally forgotten about. I was the second to order in my group of 5 and after approximately 45 minutes (everyone else at my table got their food in under 20 mins), I went to the cashier to check on my food and she apologized saying the kitchen forgot about it. By this point, my table had effectively finished their food when I was finally brought my food. After they offered to put my $12 milkshake in a to-go cup, I found that the plastic cup they gave me was only about half the size of the milkshake I would have gotten had I chosen to have the milkshake in the restaurant. After having my food forgotten and only getting half the milkshake I paid for, I expected the professional courtesy of at least an apology (I understand that working in a restaurant is stressful so I wasn’t expecting any compensation but forgetting food is simply unacceptable in the restaurant industry and an apology is the least I expected).Aside from my food, we had to ask for waters upwards of 4 times until we finally got some and that was after we had finished. The food here was decent for a vegan diner, but at the given prices and current levels of customer service, I wouldn’t recommend anyone come here. To be honest, if the food was cheaper I would understand a small mix up, but when I pay $12 for just the burger alone, I expect high quality service and that simply isn’t what I experienced.Overall summary: The food was good but the service was so bad, I cannot justify ever returning to this restaurant.

Let's take you on a journey through the vegan emporium that is Munchies Diner: You begin with the Chocobutter milkshake: a perfectly proportioned blend of Chico and peanut butter in a tall dripping glass that will in fact leave YOU dripping. If you didn't already have a foodgasm after your first slurp of chocobuttermilkshake then just wait until you indulge in the... CHICKEN SANDO WITH SWEET JUICY BBQ SAUCE. I was sitting here wishing I could put this bbq sauce of my tiddies. Sadly, the ranch flavor was drowned out by the zing of the sawce but that zing with the crunch of fresh coleslaw is like nothing I've ever felt before (queue "like a virgin"). The chicken itself...lightly battered oyster mushroom batter allowing for umami of the mushie to shine through, opening the gates of heaven to which I ascended to after this meal. To finish it off, the highlight of the entire meal was the Vc-friggin-griddle! Two thick, firm pancake pillows snuggling a titillating trio of sausage, fried, egg, hash brown, and warm blanket of American cheez to tuck it all in. GENUINE AUTHENTIC MAPLE SYRUP SOURCED STRAIGHT FROM THE CANADIAN MAPLE RESERVE served on the side as a sweet lubricant to truly marry the flavors of this 21st century montecristo. Great ambience. Friendly staff. Would recommend to anyone vegan or not. Thank you Munchies!

Holy crap. This place was great. I was worried that we wouldn't find much to eat near our hotel. This place was all that we were looking for and more. Burger was really good, hand formed patties. The milkshake is huggggeeee, the 3 of us couldn't even finish one. All I can say is I am glad I don't live nearby otherwise I'd gain 100 pounds.

Every time I'm in the Anaheim area, I keep forgetting how generally safe I feel walking around the neighborhoods late at night. I mean, people probably don't approach me because I'm wearing a Chuck E Cheese costume and I made the eyebrows on the character look really sad. Because who wants to mess with a sad rat on a Friday night. Also, the bloody hockey stick might scare them off, too. Speaking of stick, I stick to my story that Munchies is one delicious place to get a tasty burger and fries. A cute, hip place in an area with a large menu, I wasn't sure what to get. So I asked for some anxiety assistance and the lady up front encouraged me to get this western burger on a pretzel bun. And I was not disappointed. First, let's have a little moment for fries. Fries are the best part of any meal. It doesn't matter what you're eating. You could be eating unicorn magic. Still, you're reaching for the fries first. And the black pepper they season it with gives it this perfect extra flavor. The burger was so tiiiiiiiiiiight. Since the patty tasted house made, the mix of everything made it feel like a western burger meets thanksgiving. It was a perfect melty bite. So good. Would I recommend this to a friend? Yes. Would I recommend it to someone I don't know? Yes. Would I recommend it to you? Yes. Would I ask a polar bear to prom? Yes. Would I say I have deep-seated issues related to being rejected to formal dances by arctic wildlife? Yes. Would I suggest the fries? Yes. Eat here when you have the munchies or when you're hungry. Do it, Rockapella!

I wanted to try a new place for lunch so I decided to check out Munchies Diner. It's located in downtown Santa Ana, the parking is metered right outside the door, or you can park in the lot behind the restaurant. I placed an order for takeout, and I read online their "rules" in advance about how the food may take a little longer to prepare, which was fine with me. As I waited for my food I drank the cookies and cream Vcflurry I ordered- it was so thick I couldn't get it through the straw. It was also extremely chocolatey so It distracted from the cookies and cream flavor. I usually check if my order is correct before I leave but they tied the bag shut so I trusted it was fine. I was devastated when I got home and my entire order was wrong, besides the street tacos. I called and they told me to come back so I could get my order remade. I was pretty annoyed as gas is not cheap but I paid a lot of money for my full order and I was starving. I drove back to the restaurant and they had me speak to a manager and re explain then he partially remade my food and gave me a refund. I should have gotten a full re do of my order but I didn't have the energy to even say anything after all the hassle. Jarci the manager even had an attitude with me after they were in the wrong :( When I finally got to eat my meal, I enjoyed the street tacos- solid 4/5. The chipotle and salsa verde takes the overall flavor to the next level. The human style fries taste perfect. I also love that they had pretzel buns as an option for the burgers! Given that there are a few other vegan spots in the area with similar prices, faster, and more efficient service (based on my experience) i can't say if I will come back but I was interested in their breakfast menu.

I got a chicken parm sando with a pretzel bun. My sandwich was tasty but after a while I felt it was too salty, I ended up switching with my husband for his western bacon burger which I liked a lot more. The indoor seating is clean and nice. Overall good vegan food I'm excited to try sides next time.

My husband and I just joined the Vegan lifestyle and were sad that our home state has nothing Vegan to offer. We're here on a business opportunity and we grew up in Cali. Knowing how health conscious Cali is I was really excited to find Vegan options. Immediately when I saw this place I looked at my husband in disbelief. I thought it was a joke or maybe vegan meant another thing at this diner but after reading reviews we decided to try it. I got the Cali burrito and my man got 2 sets of the wings. I hate cauliflower but let me tell you those wings were perfection! Oh my god! I could eat them like popcorn. The Cali burrito is worth every god damn cent! We started this journey because I'm a plus size girl looking to be healthy and normally I could eat a whole burrito but I couldn't finish it! I was getting too full! It was so delicious and the whole time my man and I were in shock you could not tell the difference and it honestly was the best burrito we've had in our lives, vegan or non vegan. The desert better than they look in the pictures! Everything was absolutely delicious and customer service was top notch! I recommend this place. This is our new favorite spot in SoCal! It's worth every penny!!
