The Santa Maria tri-tip platter was amazing. They sous-vide the tri-tip for 12 hours, and it is tender and full of flavor.

Far exceeded all expectations! Service and food were incredible. Highly recommend for special occasion dining when in Santa Barbara.

Chef's tasting with wine pairing - everything was awesome, especially the service. Highly recommended. I love the vibe of Barbareno, when you're sitting outside by the firepit, I felt like I was in Spain in the country.

I had been wanting to try this place for quite some time. Was finally able to do so. Loved the decor and style/ambiance of the restaurant. We made a reservation and sat inside. The 2 tops were a bit close together but easy to have low volume conversation. The host and our server were friendly and pleasant. Interacted with ease. Beer and wine only. Also an assortment of NA beverages. Our favorite dish of the night was the crispy pork belly. Unfortunately, this dish, along with our pasta dish, came to the the table lukewarm. Both dishes would have been better served hot. For our party of two we ordered the beet salad, halibut crudo, crispy pork belly, and the mushroom pasta. Perfect amount for two as the dishes are small/tapas style. We did ask our dishes to be coursed out. The beet salad was typical in that beets and goat cheese pair well. Some acid would have been a good accompaniment. Just something to give the dish new life or more depth. The bathroom was clean and easy to locate. Noted that back of the house employees access kitchen in this area. I would return to try different dishes. Thanks!

Great service. My friend and I didn't like the food. They took that extra step that didn't improve the food. For example, the green sauce with the Santa Maria steak.

Always a wonderful experience that never comes up short in any way. The staff is always so passionate and informative to the very last detail. They go above and beyond to ensure you leave with that "I can't wait to come back here" feeling.

The tasting menu is the same as the regular menu. Save yourself a ton of money and just make a normal reservation. You'll get more food too. So disappointed!

The ricotta dumplings. No words. Everything was amazing here, from the food to the staff. Will most certainly be back.

The food was tasty but not enough of it, promoted as small shareable plates was true for 2 people but not 4. The server should have guided us to order duplicates when she made sure we put in our entire order so the kitchen could pace. The kitchen must have been overwhelmed as well as the sever as there was poor pacing and forgotten courses. The bbq platter was very good as was the crudo but the overall experience was lacking.

We had a wonderful experience at Barbareno. Our waiter was outstanding! He was very attentive and engaging. The fried chicken is out of this world!

Patio dining was lovely. Food was as as delicious as billed and flavors and texture did not disappoint. We ordered two smaller plates and two half-platters - we should have only gotten one half platter for two of us, but we wanted to try both the chicken and the tri tip. We've never had such tender meat and the chicken was fried to perfection. Cole was a friendly, engaged and informative server. We are looking forward to our next visit!

Bbq tri tip and crudo were incredible. Service was also top notch. Baked California had hints of marijuana which was not my favorite but the brownie was fantastic. We will be back!

Food is inventive, taking chances but usually succeeding. Service is excellent, and the room is comfortable, though seats are a bit hard (are cushions not fashionable?). Liked the Whitcraft Pinot Noir a lot, and we had just the right amount of food with bread & spread (definitely not just "bread," ranchero scotch eggs, homemade gnocchi in a Stepladder Creamery fonduta, finishing with the crispy pork belly with a couple lean pork-filled beignets. They do great food here without any stuffiness about it. Celebrating a high-digit birthday, so we were treated to a cup of strawberry semi-freddo with a candle on top. Only downside was the overwhelmingly noisy room. I know that's hard to control, but it seems to be a growing issue here and elsewhere. We usually eat in the outdoor patio, but it was a rainy November night and an indoor table seemed best, noise and all.

Been coming to this restaurant; food, service and ambience consistently great. Always a great experience every time even through Covid. I highly recommend this restaurant.

This was our first time dining at Barbareno and we're sorry we didn't find this neighborhood gem sooner! The meal was well prepared and plated. The service was engaging and friendly. Thanks Team Barbareno- we'll be back soon!
