Indian Tandoori Kingdom 1026 State Street, Santa Barbara Indian • $$

“We were visiting Santa Barbara for three nights from San Jose and were honestly shocked when we came across this Indian restaurant with 4.9 stars on Google Maps. We decided to give it a shot with no expectations, and it turned out to be one of the most authentic and best Indian food experiences I have ever had in the United States. Hands down.

The first time, we tried the Tandoori Paneer Tikka and Malai Kofta, and both were extremely delicious. The garlic naan was so soft and fresh. They also gave us kheer as a complimentary dessert, which was such a kind gesture from Jogan and the entire staff.

The service was quick, and everyone was genuinely friendly. We enjoyed it so much that we couldn’t resist going back for a second time during our three night stay.

The second time, we tried Shahi Paneer, Yellow Dal Tadka with rice, and salted lassi. Once again, they surprised us with complimentary kheer. The Shahi Paneer was rich, creamy, and absolutely hit the spot. The naan was incredibly soft, and the Yellow Dal Tadka was probably my favorite. It was a much simpler preparation with just the right amount of spices, but the flavor was spot on.

The staff here is genuinely welcoming and friendly, and the food is clearly made with care. We would absolutely come back here the next time we are in Santa Barbara.

Parking is also very easy. There is a public parking lot right behind the restaurant and another one across the street. The City of Santa Barbara parking gives you the first 75 minutes free, and after that it is $3 per hour, which makes dining here even more convenient.

Highly, highly recommended. You will not be disappointed. We will definitely be back!”

Saint Bibiana 17 W Ortega St, Santa Barbara Pizza • $$

“I anticipated that my trip to Santa Barbara would be highlighted by the beaches and ambiance of the city but I was wildly mistaken upon entering St. Bibiana. I entered this establishment with very few expectations as I simply just wanted a bite to eat but I left with non-quantifiable delight. I was met with who I presume to be the owner, Gabe, who hosted my family and I with a warm smile and a brief description of their story. He recommended two of their specialty pizzas--the Lemon Mushroom and the Figgy Piggy--and I gave them both a shot along with a side of the garlic knots. Little did I know, I was going to be having the best meal of my trip and two of the best, if not the best, pizzas I have ever eaten in my lifetime. Their combinations may seem peculiar but they are finely crafted to perform the Waltz on the dance floor that are your tastebuds. If it wasn't enough that we were served a delectable meal, Gabe graciously sent us a slice of another specialty (limited) pizza called the peach ricotta and again brought us to awe. We thank everyone in that establishment for making our day and a fair chunk of our trip. To Gabe, thank you extra for your generosity and hospitality.

“The service was poor, our server was rude and inattentive, my drink arrived nearly two hours later as we were leaving, and our food order was incorrect. To make matters worse, I discovered my designer limited-edition bag charm was missing immediately after we left. We had only walked out for a short period of time to watch the fireworks. A report was filed, and the police were notified by the security team. This raises concerns about safety here. Overall, this was a very unpleasant experience, and I would not recommend this restaurant.”

Kin Bakeshop 199 South Turnpike Road Ste 103, Santa Barbara Bakery • $

“We made a weekend trip from Miami to Santa Barbara mostly just to visit Kin lol. I had seen them on socials and reddit and I'm a sucker for great food and an even better experience. Kin is such a special place. Yes, the line is long but it is oh so worth it. We literally visited every day, twice a day over the long weekend and tried almost every drink and baked treat on the menu LOL. Can't go wrong with anything. Everyday I had a new favorite, it's THAT GOOD. The coconut cloud matcha, and pandan matcha are the best I've ever had. The cookie butter cream top is also stellar. The donuts speak for themselves, but trust me, the flavors taste just as good as they sound reading them on a menu. So thankful we got to try Kin and thank you a million times over to the staff and the amazing owner. I don't know how they do it but they manage to still be warm and friendly even with how insanely busy they are non-stop. For anyone complaining about the lines or prices, this is prob not your vibe. Those of us who get it, 'get it.' I really hope to be able to come back and visit in the future. I wish sooooo much success for this team and hope Kin sticks around and expands (hopefully to Miami lol)”

The atmosphere was dim and moody, but bright enough for me to see, my eyes do not do well in very dim places, the vibes were excellent. To see 'Howls moving castle' playing made me feel like I was in a safe space. The omakase was very intimate but also warm and welcoming because of the staff.

The omakase itself was a dream, my only wish was that I had double the serving of fish. Everything on the menu was spectacular and cared for by the chef. This experience has made me so grateful, I will definitely be returning to the Rodeo Room for a drink, a bite, or even the omakase again!”

“Handlebar: Very Dog~friendly ~ a plus for me & associated dog :) I like the woodsy indoor and outdoor settings. Good coffee (only tried the mocha so far) that tastes like coffee, not overly sugary flavorings. The 2 baked goods tested ~ an apple turnover and a vegan cowboy oat cookie ~ were a miss for me, but maybe some other selections are better. Buoyant, airy atmosphere. Friendly, non~glaring, 20~ something staff, not overly solicitous but not hostile, is always a plus. Some of the staff elsewhere who I’ve encountered is like: 1) they resent their job; 2) they resent you; 3) they resent the “smile” or “thank you” unstated expectation; 4) they resent all of the above; 5) alternatively, it’s a generational thing.”

“I have never been a huge fan of torta's...everytime I get one I always wished I had just gotten a burrito...because who doesn't LOVE tortillas, right? ....but...

I just had the best torta of my life! The Cubana Torta from El Sitio is FUEGO. You know when you order a sandwich and you get drips of sauce falling out the back? This thing drips huge chunks of amazingly flavored meats all over....in fact half of the meat they give you doesn't even FIT in the sandwich... you get a whole other sandwich's worth of meat wrapped up in the foil!

Hands down. Best Torta of my life.

On top of that. they have an amazing all-female kitchen staff, who are sweet as anything and make amazing food. I can't forget Pepe, who is the son of the man who started this business. He is always in-store (I am sure he rotates stores) helping out with operations, taking orders, answering phones, etc. When I first moved here a year or so ago, he was such a bright and helpful face in this new area for me. Which as anyone who lives in SB knows, can sometimes feel a bit stuck up, and unwelcoming. I saw Pepe today and once again he helped me however he could (including selling me a roll of quarters I needed for laundry, lifesaver!) which is what brought me into google maps to send back my gratitude for this business and hope this review will help support them because 1. they deserve it. and 2. it really is the best mexican, or really some of the best food in town! and I do NOT say that lightly. Hope this helps ya'll Cheers. BTW everything I have tried here is great.....but please....consider ordering the Cubana Torta....wow. just....wow.”

“Had an absolutely fantastic dinner at Siam Street Food while in Santa Barbara.

I’ve traveled to Thailand and have eaten at a lot of Thai restaurants throughout LA and Orange County, so I have a pretty good frame of reference. The food here was excellent across the board. We ordered the Pad See Ew, Spicy Basil, Tom Yum Soup, Mango Sticky Rice, and Thai Tea. Every dish was packed with flavor and tasted fresh and authentic. The Thai tea was especially good because it wasn’t overly sweet, which is how I prefer it.

What stood out just as much as the food was the hospitality. The owner and staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. Our server, April, was so sweet and took great care of us throughout the meal.

They were kind enough to comp the Thai tea after hearing my compliments, but honestly, I had already planned on leaving a review before they even brought it up. Great food and great service deserve recognition.

Also, sorry that the only picture I have is of the mango sticky rice. I was too busy enjoying the rest of the meal to stop and take photos, which probably tells you everything you need to know.

Looking forward to coming back the next time I’m in Santa Barbara.”

I walked one mile away because of the great things I heard about Jill’s Place. And you know what? I was not disappointed! I was stoked and impressed greatly 🥰😁 I had two wonderful, dazzling, and sweet waitresses (lucky me!). I was served a yummy chicken breast sandwich and it was the best one I had ever! No seriously! It wasn’t too salty and the bread was golden brown and ready to be munched on. The tator tots had the perfect texture. It’s almost as I had food from some amazing restaurant, which, hello, I did 😅 The place was packed, since it was Fiesta, but I imagine it always is. It sucks I live 45 minutes from this great establishment. The atmosphere was fun and a little country, but I love that. It’s casual, and not some elegant place like Lucky’s is. I’d still show up in a suit, if I could and would. Definitely check this place out and ask for the two blonde sisters who work there. “Terrific local lunch spot. Had the tri-tip sandwich and the meat was tender, sliced not too thick and not too thin and perfectly seasoned. The bread was lightly toasted while still staying nice and soft. Terrific draft beer selection and very friendly staff. Also, the barbecue sauce is made in house and a must have with the tri-tip! So good! I'll definitely be back again.”

“My husband and I ate at the Live Oak Café while were staying at the Best Western on the same property. The restaurant interior is bright and chic and, as a bonus, overlooks the hotel pool. Plenty of parking. We had dinner the first night of our stay and loved it so much we went back for breakfast. Everything is fresh, high quality and delicious. If you are in Santa Barbara, be sure to stop by and give them a try. Be sure also to stop and say hello to the cute little finches who live right outside. I have to give a very special shout out to Javier and Luis! They were awesome – made us feel warm and welcome and part of the family. Luis kept the smiles and the coffee coming (VERY important part of my morning) and Javier could not have been more helpful and also has a really great smile! Stop by and say hi to the guys!”

“We stopped in over the Fourth of July for the first time and were very pleased by the relaxed atmosphere. I ordered the beet salad and chicken scallopini and both were excellent. I initially thought $20 was rather high for a salad, but it was one of the best salads I'd ever had. The chicken scallopini with side of mashed potatoes was wonderful. I thought the chicken scallopini was very similar to chicken piccata, but it went perfectly with the seasoned mashed potatoes. The broccoli rabe was okay but wasn't my favorite. We also ordered the fried calamari which was delicious. My daughter's gem salad looked delicious, but they forgot to add the requested shrimp. My son's maccheroni bolognese was tasty, but the pasta was very al dente and should have been cooked a little longer. Everything was very nice except for the country music. Soft jazz would have been more appropriate, but I'm sure we'll be back because of the excellent food.”

Finch & Fork 31 W Carrillo St, Santa Barbara New American • $$

“From the moment you pull your car up to the valet parking, to then being greeted inside the hotel, then being hosted down to where the restaurant is, and back out to the valet, the service here is phenomenal. Honestly, three people helping my elderly mother to get into the car? And they figured out how to fold her new, tricky walker and get it into the trunk? I just cannot rave enough about the service here.

The food was delicious but you can get really good food everywhere, but not with the quality of service that comes with it here! The Manager even came over to us for a good long time and spoke with us, something he did not have to do.

The restaurant is lovely, but they did have a party in the room next to us that definitely disrupted our meal a bit. I know it is better for them to have a room full of people than to have it empty.”

“Came here with my boyfriend on a whim, searching for a cup of coffee in the late afternoon. Decided to grab a meal and we were incredibly impressed. The BBQ Pulled Pork was the perfect balance of sauce and meat, not too much, not too little. The fries were also perfectly well done, a sharp crisp which we enjoyed. My boyfriend ordered the Pastrami, and not a single bite was left. The bread had a touch of rosemary which gave it an unexpected freshness. By the way, per my BF, this is the BEST RANCH he’s had in a few years. 10/10 meal and place. Definitely coming back.”

“You guys.. im not exaggerating when I say I have traveled the world seeking the best sandwich, and today, I have finally found it. The Spicoli was perfectly layered. Hits you with so much flavor and texture in every bite. Not too much bread. Like sooo many sandwich shops ruin everything by relying on the bread for size. Mission city packed it full of meat instead..The full-size is a great amount of food and you will leave satisfied. A MUST in Santa Barbara.”

Siam Street Food 425 State St, Santa Barbara Thai • $$

“I love a soft serve ice cream with a hard candy shell, and this old school joint served up some of the best. High Seas Mead 210 Gray Ave, Santa Barbara Cideries • $

“An amazing find during a trip to SB. My partner loves good, super-dry ciders, and through her I”ve come to appreciate them as well (and it’s a lot easier to take her to a brewery with me than for us to find a cidery for her…).

Dropped in near the end of New Year’s Day and did tasting flights - mostly overlapping, but it’s a relatively compact selection to choose from (even if you dapple into the mead options). The four ciders we tried were exceptional - complex, dry, and with robust and distinctive flavors. I can’t remember the names, but the one co-fermented with a red wine was surprising and so, so good in particular.

The guy working the bar that night was also really helpful, friendly, and brought incredible energy on a quiet, grey, cold NYD. The whole place was a great experience!”

“I am a DoorDash Photographer, so you can imagine I sample a lot of food from various restaurants. The Seoulmate Kitchen located in the Santa Barbara Public Market (Victoria and Chapala) has some of the best food I've tasted during my shoots. The kitchen is very clean, the workers are pleasant, quick, and knowledgeable about their dishes. The owners Juan and Francesca were very helpful and they really know how to present and prepare really great dishes. I hadn't tasted Korean food before, but I am a fan now. The sandwiches were incredible and giant, the (celebration) Matcha drinks were amazing. Nice free parking in the garage just below the Market. Enter off Chapala St. There is an elevator for easy access to the street level where the restaurant is. The food court is air conditioned and large. The whole family will be comfortable in the tables with big TV's all around. Do yourself a favor and stop in for a meal you won't forget!”

“The salad we started with was a unique crispy mix of pickled to creamy. The pastas at the table are not really well-defined as pastas as they are sumptuous creations that are enough for two in one bowl. The all-Italian wines provided choice in price and style. Good time.”
