Honestly I thought the place was pretty gross and the service was unexpectedly bad. I was waiting outside the women's restroom while my aunt was inside and some guy tried entering the women's restroom while she was in there right in front of me, all beyond drunk at 11 am. Got to our table only to find it all sticky. When I finally did manage to get my hands on the menu, I was so rushed to order and couldn't even look at it. I just simply handed back the menu. From the rush and attitude I was already receiving, I didn't even wanna imagine what it would be like if I asked what kind of oils they cooked with due to my allergies. The waitress's response seemed to be a full 180 with her guest who happened to be at the bar. She seemed much more of a delight to them, dancing and cheering but with our table it was quite the opposite. I am assuming it's mainly a bar then. I honestly don't know why we received such bad service. Seemed unlike all the reviews online. I had high expectations going in but was let down. My family did enjoy their food, but they felt bad with the awkward service. Wouldn't recommend. Also was definitely not worth the price!.

We got excellent service tonight from Guillermo, who made an instant impression on us with his warm welcome, his service, and his thoughtful attendance to our needs. And the Ruben sandwich and onion rings hit the spot!! As longtime Goleta locals, we need to get back to Derf's more often. Nice outdoor patio, too!

Derf's was my hang out when working at the Shell station across the street. 40 years later, the station is gone, but Derf"s lives on with good food and great service!

Derf's looks like a local cafe and bar that hasn't changed much in decades. Seating is both indoor and outdoor streetside deck. The service was prompt and friendly. Food was tasty. Very small off street parking area with scarce on street parking. It was a fun expereience.

First time here and we will be back. The Potatoe Skins were freshly made and we had the Fish and chips. The fish outer crust was perfectly done. Amazing food and awesome service. We were also able to watch the game while we ate.

Game day lunch. Chicken ceasar sandwich. Great flavor & I love the bread they use for their sandwiches.

Searched for a dog friendly restaurant off the freeway on a road trip and found this gem of a place. Server was the nicest, Food was tasty (loved the fries!) and patio was comfortable. Parking situation was a little funky but worked out for us since we went midday when there wasnt a lot of other diners.

This place is on the corner of mission and state. I honestly don't know how they stay in business after all of these years. The food is mediocre and it's way over priced. If you're looking to level up and find something significantly better just go across the street to the daily grind. way better everything.
Parking: Park on the street. They also have a few lot spaces.
