Ordered the salmon donburi and was really disappointed—nearly half the bowl was just raw tomato slices with some broccoli and sprouts. It felt more like a salad than a donburi. Not worth the price.

SB is full of great sushi, but give this place a try if you find yourself nearby.

Last time we were here the food was fantastic. It's been awhile and unfortunately it's gone way down hill! ... We ordered 3 rolls and the fish in each was old at best and gone bad at worst. Very fishy and slimy. We couldn't eat it.

Best restaurant on Mesa with terrific friendly service and fresh ingredients. Large menu with offerings for all tastes. If you love Japan you’ll love Ichiban. A true locals restaurant around for decades. A gem of the Mesa. Great for lunch, dinner ifs often very busy. Enjoy!

Excellent takeout. We ordered over $100 worth of food and it was all great. Chick teriyaki was good quality and arrived hot. All the rolls were fresh and made well. The service was top notch. They listened to all the special requests. We will order again.

The food was so-so. The service was terrible. We were pushed to order and then the food all came at once very fast. The staff was talking to each other so loud we could not easily carry on our conversation. The sushi chef, situated in the center of the restaurant, coughed throughout our time there. Even after we made mention of it, he did not put on a mask. I would never eat here again nor recommend it to anyone.

Not sure why the place doesn't have higher ratings. It's really good. It's conveniently located on the mesa on cliff drive. Their sushi is really good. I would say this is a top 5 place for sushi in Santa Barbara. Their california rolls are good, so are the spider and crunchy rolls. The atmosphere may not be the best as it is a little plain, but the food is good. Well worth it. I would give them a try if you're on the mesa.
