This place is AMAZING! It was one of those places where you cannot believe it is gluten free so you keep asking if everything is Gluten free. Even my non-gluten free friends were extremely impressed. I have a wheat allergy so I asked them what kind of gluten free flour they use, and they do use a mix of potato and rice flours/Starches. They do have vegan options for those with other food intolerances. I’ll say, I had the best toasted ham and Swiss sandwich, on top of all the desserts. I’ve been in Santa Barbara for 2 days and I’ve already been there 3 times! The vibes of the bakery are also super cute. The atmosphere ties the whole experience together.

This place is almost like heaven to me. I hope to visit at least once a year for the rest of my life.

I recently visited Lilac Patisserie and, unfortunately, my experience didn’t live up to the reputation. The bakery itself is beautifully decorated, but the service felt rushed and inattentive, as though the staff didn’t have time for customer questions or concerns. I ordered a few items that looked amazing in the display case, but the quality didn’t match the presentation. The pastries were overly sweet and lacked the freshness I’d expect from a place with such high prices. I’d rather go to Albertsons and get the same thing for cheaper. Overall, it was a disappointing experience, and I don’t think I’ll be back anytime soon.

Vegetarian options: The rosemary olive gluten-free bread is my favourite, but I also love their lemon bars and blueberry lemon tarts.

I WISH I COULD GIVE THIS PLACE A NEGATIVE STAR! We went in wanting just a simple pastry and coffee. My boyfriend asked if the pumpkin muffin had any nuts as he is VERY allergic to them. The cashier affirmed him it did not. Thankfully we triple checked the muffin before he ate it but it had CHUCKS of walnuts. Very disappointed in the service and it is extremely dangerous for the community.

We went here twice for breakfast while in the area and among the four of us, sampled as much as we could. By far, the winner was the Eggs Royale (eggs benedict with smoked salmon) and the coffee cake was the pastry winner. The avocado toast is popular, but overrated and the thyme on it felt out of place. The waffle was a runner up winner. All around a great breakfast place if you have celiac.

Dietary restrictions: Dedicated gluten free. Most items have dairy.

Everything I ate was DELICIOUS!!!? As a celiac I recommend this place cuz the waffles are very good ? the chocolate chip cookie was good too, and I ordered a lemon cheesecake, I didn’t like that one very much, but everything else is mouthwatering. I only tried these, but they also sell muffins, various cakes, various omelette, and they have a breakfast menu, also there’s free water of course.

Dietary restrictions: The whole place is gluten free.

Best gluten free restaurant anywhere! Love to stop for breakfast, cupcakes and bread when I’m driving north up the coast.

Dietary restrictions: I am gluten free and dairy free too. I love the GF options, but wish there were more dairy free options.

I’ve only eaten here twice, but it’s becoming a go-to whenever I visit Santa Barbara.

The vibes are really chill. There’s a nice outdoor seating area if you want to enjoy the sun. And there’s lots of tables inside. And though it was crowded inside, it didn’t feel noisy at all.

I recently got the croque madame and it was delicious! The egg was perfectly runny and the mornay sauce was rich. I did add some hot sauce, which I know can be a faux pas but I really like hot sauce on eggs. You can get the option of getting two eggs if you really want to go all out on the richness, but one was enough for me. The salad was yummy and balanced the croque madame. The greens weren’t bitter at all.

Service was fast and friendly. You have to order at the counter, so the line can get long. But it goes fast. I know if it was slower, I would’ve ended up buying a pastry because the line forms in front of the display case and they all looked so yummy and pretty!

What’s great about Lilac is that they have gluten-free pastries, so those who can’t have gluten can still indulge. As far as the savory side, there’s many vegetarian options.

I really enjoy dining here and I am definitely returning in the future.

Dietary restrictions: Lilac is known for their gluten free pasties.

I’m so happy to have a gluten free restaurant in town but every time I come here I am left very disappointed in the food. The server was pretty rude and my French toast was burnt :(

Saw this spot on TikTok and as we were walking downtown Santa Barbara my husband and I stumbled upon it. Best decision ever made to enter this place. Their food was amazing!!! The amount of food you get for the price is perfect. Their eggs benedict will have you secon guessing all your previous brunch/breakfast choices. No one beats their scones.

Do yourself a favor and stop by.
