Delicious fresh pizza

Og pizza was good. The kids got a pepperoni with olives. Way to greasy. We Did not like at all . Meatballs was good. Bad part is that they have an open merchandiser for their drinks. Bad idea for that establishment. The drinks are not cold. They need a closed fridge to keep them cool. Their ovens warm up that tiny place. So yes our beer was warm.

They pretty much burned our pizza. We came from a long travel, picked up a pepperoni and a californian pizza, pepperoni was burned beyond enjoyment, ee had to go back for another 15 min drive but they did replace it thankfully. Wish they would have done it right in the 1st place.

Delicious pizza and even better customer service! The texture of their crust is amazing and ingredients are super fresh. Highly recommend!

We stopped by Lucky Penny in Santa Barbara and I have to say—this place absolutely lived up to the hype! I ordered the Salty Surfer pizza with a few customizations: I swapped the peppers for mushrooms and kept the pineapple and prosciutto combo. The vodka-based sauce tied it all together beautifully. The crust was phenomenal—crispy, chewy, and packed with flavor. Truly one of the best pizzas I’ve had in a long time!

The frozen margarita was perfect for the warm weather—refreshing, balanced, and hit the spot.

We also tried the Caesar salad, which wasn’t quite to our taste—the dressing had a very bold, strong flavor that didn’t quite work for us. We also ordered the pepperoni pizza, which was decent, but the Salty Surfer definitely stole the show.

The only downside was the seating—we were with a group including kids, and there just wasn’t enough shade, which made it a bit uncomfortable in the heat.

Overall, though, the food—especially the Salty Surfer pizza—and the atmosphere made for a great experience. I’d definitely return (hopefully with a bit more shade next time)!

I wanted to like the pizza more because it looks really good. But the truth is my east coast pepperoni pizza was greasy and blackened. I understand it's wood fired pie and bits of char are to be expected. But the overwhelming flavor was blackened char. The bottom of the pizza was mostly black. The sauce is super plain, I prefer pizza sauce with herbs and basil. The crust is good. The beer was outrageously priced at $11 for the IPA on draft and it, disappointingly, comes in a plastic cup. You order at the window, they give you a number, then bring you your food. The courtyard is beautiful with its lovely flowers and atmosphere. The Funk District is much less funky than I expected. I expected more art and more of a vibe. There's a couple murals and some flyers on telephone poles. I guess that qualifies as Funk in such a ritzy town

One of our favorite pizza spots in Santa Barbara. After living there a few years ago, it's so nice to go back and enjoy it again. Ordered 2 pizzas (east coast pepperoni and hot girl pizza) and they were both amazing! Also ordered 2 Italian chopped salads which were so fresh. We had a group of 4, so the 2 pizzas and 2 salads were perfect for us.

Tons of outdoor seating which was a great environment and relaxing.

Great selection of beer and drinks!

Staff was super helpful and really nice! :)

Highly recommend bringing friends to Lucky Penny in the funk zone!

This is the best pizza place I've ever been to. The pizza's dough tastes so fresh and has a bunch of flavor. I love the flat sheets of thin Parmesan on top because it has great flavor. Definitely would recommend going here if you love wood fired pizza!!!

Kid-friendliness: There is a nice area with picnic benches and grass which is great for eating. There is also a fence around most of it which is good for keeping your kids surrounded. Great for kids! We also like to bring our dog here!

One of my favorites in the Funk Zone. Great pizza and drink selection. They previously had a charcuterie board that we used to love getting. Hoping they bring it back soon!

I tried the delicious Margherita Pizza at Lucky Penny.

This neopolitan style pizza has a nice crust with a hearty finish at the end: a nice handle to grab onto. The basil was extremely fresh! Always a good sign of care being put into the final product.

The highlight was the amount of sauce and ratio of sauce to crust. It was robust and had bright flavors.

I do wish there was more cheese. I think even with a neopolitan style, the coverage could have been better toward the center.

The outdoor area is a great place to enjoy the pizza on a sunny day.

If you are in Santa Barbara, you have to go to the Lucky Penny. The absolute BEST wood fired pizza you will ever have. I have been there so many times and tried everything - never had anything I didn't like. Salads are excellent too. My current favorite is the street corn pizza. It will blow your mind. Highly recommend!!

I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of Lucky Penny's Margherita pizza! It's not easy to find good pizza in the United States, but here they really hit the mark. The pizza is prepared with the freshest ingredients and the authentic taste of tomato, mozzarella and basil mixes perfectly. The crust is crispy just right, with that slight hint of a wood-fired oven that makes every bite irresistible.

The restaurant has an informal and relaxed atmosphere, perfect for enjoying a good pizza with friends or for a quiet dinner. The staff were friendly and attentive, adding that extra touch to the experience.

If you are in Santa Barbara and want authentic and tasty pizza, Lucky Penny is definitely the place to be. Finally, a pizza that has nothing to envy of those found in Italy!
