The food here is amazing! I highly recommend the Fish Po’Boy. The owner and staff are really nice as well. The only knock is the atmosphere is pretty lacking, the place looks incomplete, if you’re not hella bougie shouldn’t be a problem.

My first time visiting Cali (Santa Barbara). Duration of visit was August 31, 2024 to September 6, 2024. Love the area and of course was on the hunt for great food. We saw a story about Soul Bites on the news during our visit. We thought we'd try it out and support the struggling business. After being seated, it took a bit for someone to come and wait the table. Our entire party of 4 ordered the fried chicken with collard greens, blackeye peas, grits and hot crack mac. The chicken would be the only item I would rave about. The most disappointing thing was to actually see the owner walking about while we dinning and he did not bother to come to the table to say hello. In my opinion, this was a missed opportunity for him to connect with customers and with a struggling business, making sure your customers are taken care of should be a priority. The chef ended up bring our food to the table and was very polite and attentive. I would not patronize this business again.

I’ve had a lot of soul food in my life…but never have I had soul food as bad as this. Me and my mother got the chicken thighs and drumstick, mac n cheese, and greens. The chicken was the only edible thing. The greens didn’t taste like any greens I’ve ever had and the mac n cheese was very weird. Needless to say, we both ended up throwing out the greens and mac and cheese.

I ordered DoorDash and payed for two soul plates under hunter c. I only received one, food was great but tried to call and got no answer three times and got hung up on as well, also for got my sauce I paid for.
We had a fantastic lunch here. Went with a mixed group of vegans and meat eaters and everyone was thrilled. I can personally recommend the vegan crab cakes, but my brother and Dad raved about the fried chicken, too. Service was very friendly, and we were all very happy we ended up there!
The place is dirty and rundown. It looks like the owners don’t care about ambiance or even cleaning the place. The floors are sticky and dirty. The staff was great but make sure you tip them with cash. Apparently the owners think it’s okay to keep the tip money from credit cards for themselves.

Oh Mah Gaw!!!! You have to try this. The chicken was so crispy and juicy. Great blend of herbs and spices. Get the collard greens as a side . They are tender in a delicious sweet vinagery broth. Definitely would be a great place to eat and enjoy music.

4 solid stars. Food was 4. Taste was good but they are serving food in to go containers. We got the Shrimp & Grits with crab gravy, chicken cracklings (fried skin) black eye peas, and chicken Sandwhich. All were delicious.
