What a charming place! SO “Country French” in atmosphere! Menu is broad (basics, like choice of steaks, plus dishes we have enjoyed in France, like cassoulet and coq au vin), service was perfect (Carol was our waitress). Prices were below what we expected for such a lovely place.

I have been to some Michellin Star restaurants and Stella Mares matches most of them in all categories at a fraction of the cost. It is very sad to lose this treasure. Stella Mares will always hold a special place in my heart. GO VISIT NOW, BEFORE IT IS GONE on 12/31/24.

This well established restaurant has been fairly consistent over the years. Perhaps due to its location next to the Bird Refuge flies are sometimes present and bothersome. Today our waiter was pleasant but somewhat neglectful. It was not an especially busy day but there seemed to be especially long intervals when he did not appear at our table. Our plates sat empty for a long time before they were cleared away, as did my iced tea for which I was hoping for a refill. I worked as a server in my younger days and I think I am patient and not overly demanding. This was sub par service. My salad was a generous size but somewhat vinegary.

As always, service was perfect. Our waiter was attentive, knowledgeable, considerate, affable, polite and efficient. He even brought a cup of hot tea,without our request, when one in our party had a sore throat which interfered with swallowing . Could not have asked for more. The food is consistently good and presents well. Although the greenhouse was not available due to a private party (wedding) we were seated in a wonderful room with plenty of windows which faces the street and ocean beyond. Everything was what we have come to expect, which is why we keep going back.
Antonio was prompt & attentive. Courteous by taking orders first from the women in our group . The food is always outstanding. It's been my family's go to restaurant for many years. Never disappoints

We celebrated our anniversary on the outdoor patio. We were very happy with the leisurely pace of the service as it allowed us to enjoy the surroundings and savor our meals. We had the snails, lobster bisque, cassoulet, duck confit, and creme brulee. All were very good and highly recommended. Our usually very well behaved dog found the duck confit smell irresistable and kept begging for it, adding another voice to our approval of the food. A perfect evening for us.

Wife's Birthday and so we returned to one of our favorite communities and restaurants. At home from the moment we arrived. French Onion Soup was good and the Filet Mignon Bernaise and Salmon Amandine better. Good wine list and a friendly server. What could be better.

The food was excellent, and the service was even better! They took care of our special request, and everything was served hot; the way it should be. A decent wine selection, and we'll definitely be back!

We had a wonderful lunch in the lovely atmosphere. We ordered the grilled artichoke, a salmon dish with cauliflower, lamb burger and a chicken with wine sauce. Everything was so delicious. We keep going back to this restaurant every time we go to Santa Barbara. It's a great restaurant.
