Hard to find something not to like at Andersen’s. ? Wonderful pastry and sitting outside watching the world go by on State Street.

Disappointed with the service, food, and cleanliness of this restaurant/bakery. The bakery items were overpriced for the serving size, quality, and taste. The Pork Schnitzel was terrible. It is served with an abundance of what I can only describe as deep fryer oil. This oil overwhelms the entire meal, creates a soggy schnitzel and provides enough saturated fat to give you Coronary Artery Disease within 24 hours of consuming. Opt for one of the many other nearby eateries.

Absolute nightmare dealing with Anderson’s DO NOT DO ANY EVENTS HERE. We are from out of town we planned on having a wedding reception here and gave Charlotte the owner several months notice on the date, we met her in person and asked about wedding events she was happy to have us to an event there. We quickly learned Charlotte doesn’t like answering simple questions or dealing directly with the bride and groom when we barely interacted with her just asking preliminary questions such as food options.Mind you it would take Charlotte a week just to respond to us, she wouldn't even accommodate a tasting for us for the food when we wanted to pay for one, it’s all around her schedule and she has to be there, we said ok not a problem we thought, we sent over an email asking for at this point the third time that we want to pay to do a taste test of the food and finalize, Charlotte then says the date is taken, we had already booked several things like the court date revolving around the Anderson’s bakery being our reception. Everything has gone smoothly except booking at the Anderson’s, with delays created by them. This is more than a month into us talking to Charlotte at Andersons, we were not told what happened or why the date was taken and no explanation or reason was given. Thanks to Charlotte at Anderson dropping us for no reason when we were very kind and understanding to her we can no longer get married in Santa Babara, we can’t find any venues and lost our deposit at the courthouse among many other fees. We didn’t deserve to be treated like this, we wanted to support a family business not be dumped like this when we were kind and understanding.FYI we bought a box of pastry on our initial visit and they were stale, we still gave the Anderons the benefit of doubt still wanting to give them business. Please whatever you do, don’t do any events here.

Best Scandinavian Bakery I have ever been to. Everything is highest quality. If you like Wisconsin Kringles, the Kringles here will blow you away. Anything with almonds and or marzipan is a must experience.

We came in around 8:30 (30 minutes before closing) just for dessert. I bought a cheesecake and my friend bought a fruit tart, she was told we couldn’t sit down to eat it because they were getting ready to close. I don’t see why because we weren’t going to take half an hour to eat our pastry and this shouldn’t be an issue even if we showed up 10 minutes before. The customer after us was told they could sit down and eat by the other employee. Whatever stupid rules you have should apply to everyone. The desserts were great but the customer service was subpar. Do better.

No relation to THE Andersons Pea Soup restaurant in Buellton (now closed I'm told). Only tried the bakery but was unimpressed. Very pricey & just ok cookies. Tough location to get to (State Street just above Figueroa. Limited street parking but near public parking structure). Not interested in a revisit.

The wine, the place, the location, and the food are fine. Two things I have to say: our order took a lot of time and nobody had the courtesy to be aware of that (we ordered the Scandinavian duck and the pork sausage. The bakery is not what I expected, I will say is more on the average

Andersen’s is a nostalgic place that’s remained unchanged for decades (in a good way!) that’s a glimpse of old State St. This cozy, consistent, locally-owned spot is like a 100-year old Copenhagen bakery transported to Santa Barbara. The bakery section is a must-stop for anyone with a sweet tooth, for traditional Danish-style pastries, cakes and friendly service.
