The restaurant was in a nice location off State Street. Really is a pretty seating area, though they closed the courtyard for our visit due to the weather, we still enjoyed the street dining. For food, we had the pink sauce pizza, the meatball share plate, the brussel sprouts, and the potatoes gratin. Though the portion of the latter two was a bit small, everything we had was good. The meatballs lacked a little bit of depth, but no complaints on the food overall. The pizza was definitely our favorite part, overall the food was about a 3/5 for us. The service however was unbelievably poor (with the exception of Victor on the patio who was helpful and so kind moving heaters and ensuring satisfaction). I am not one to often complain about service as I've worked the industry for a few years and totally understand when things are busy or staff is new. (I should mention the restaurant was not busy as our reservation was early). Our waitress was a woman in her 50s, who didn't acknowledge our presence for the first few minutes we sat down. When she came over, she was fine but nothing special, we asked for her recommendation of the pizza and she choose the pepperoni, citing she wasn't a fan of their white/pink sauces, which was odd for a staff member to say, but that's fine. She brought out some waters and our drinks and accidentally spat on me and my beverage when talking to me, which, accidents happen, but that was a bit uncomfortable. I just put my drink to side and didn't bother for a new one. I asked for her pairing recommendation of our food selections which she didn't really have an opinion on "ughhhh maybe the pizza first and everything else together" as she seemed disinterested. When she brought our pizza we were happy and asked for some Parmesan. The parm unfortunately didn't make it to the table until we had finished (maybe that's our fault for eating too fast!). No sign of her anywhere outside until the next food run came about 20 minutes later. The food came out slow, and the portions weren't large, but everything was decent. She had no care for either of the tables around us, forgetting to put one tables order and then saying they were out of the shrimp only an hour after they had ordered it. Heard both of the other tables say they were not fans of the service here pretty explicitly, though it could just have been our waitress. Pretty weird and poor service, with minimal apology to anybody. Probably would not return unless the staff changes.

intermezzo is a favorite of ours in Santa Barbara. always great service and delicious food. The grilled salmon is really good as is the lemon chicken dish. Highly recommend Intermezzo.

Great Burger with lots of grilled carmelized onions. Salmon was superb. Josh and his crew do an excellant job as I refer many guests to this establishment from my local hotel. Victor Evarone Managing Partner Cabrillo Inn at the Beach Oceanfront "East Beach" Santa Barbara CA

Really nice restaurant. Great food and service. The owner John? Gave us a tour of all the rooms and rock n roll photos sharing the history of the place. We had a NY steak frite and a mushroom pizza, both were excellent. We highly recommend this neighborhood gem.

Great atmosphere, greater host, server staff pleasant. However, can't say same about the food. It was subpar. We went in with expectations of getting great above average meal that will mirror the staff and the decor of the place, and looking at the pictures posted on yelp. It was a let down. Limited selection on entrees on their menu. Hoped for great pasta dishes since it was an Italian restaurant, and yelp indicated that they had great pasta, there was no pasta dish on the menu, over 5 pizza selection though. Needles to say, we ordered meatballs as appetizers and shared beat salad. Salad was tasty, which we thought that was a precursor to good meal. Meatballs were moist, but let's just say we've had worse but we certainly have had better. The sauce had some bitterness to it, the toast that it accompanied was thick slices and had ricotta cheese spread, that had no flavor to it all. The presentation was great and generous portions but flavors didn't match. Husband ordered shrimp, I ordered mushroom truffle pizza ,since everything else was steak and fish on the menu or hamburger. I was craving for pasta dish, Pizza it is! Pizza had good flavors, again, have had better. My husband's shrimp dish was over cooked. It was in a larger bowl with sauce liquidy, and again with 2large thick slice of bread. Our table behind us ordered muscle with fries from the appetizer selection. That looked more appetizing than the shrimp dish hubby ordered. We skipped desert all together because it only mainly had ice cream deserts. It was cold evening to have ice cream. Over all great ambience but subpar quality in the dishes. We didn't feel we had an elegant night out.

Intermezzo has been a favorite for sooo long! They've gone through some changes, but always have been able to maintain overall quality of food and service, We appreciate that in a challenging environment. Our server Ian(?) was great too.

Fantastic restaurant. Without a doubt our favorite place in SB! Food, service and energy are just great. Try the mussels and fries as well as the lemon chicken. Truly delicious. We love all the rock n roll photos throughout the restaurant too! Definitely recommend Intermezzo!

Wonderful experience for our anniversary. There were rose petals at our table and complimentary glasses of Prosecco delivered to our table. The salads were great and very large. The special mushroom pizza was excellent and the Oaxacan The Line drink was killer.

Delicious

The service was slow. The special salad of the evening sounded really interesting and good when the waiter explained it to us but in reality it was awful!!! Nothing special about it just lettuce and a tiny crumble of pecan that you could hardly find. It was rediculously expensive!! $24.00 for a salad that should be $8.00. The special pizza of the day was very good - $30.00. We were very disappointed!!!

went to celebrate our anniversary the day after Valentine's. Lovely experience from start to finish. We usually sit in the bar or in the courtyard, but this time requested a table in the dining room for a change. Such a nice room, warm & well appointed, tables are generously spaced & great music (as always). Top shelf service and food. All the staff that interacted with us were aware we were celebrating our anniversary (we had noted it when we made the reso.) and extended their congrats. Nice touch.

We enjoyed our Valentine’s dinner. The restaurant gave each woman a long stem red rose ?. The lemon caper chicken breast was a large delicious portion. The soppressata pizza was nice and crisp, and a large size. We shared the house mixed greens salad that was plenty for two. We enjoyed the Albarino and the CA cabernet. A romantic outdoor patio at night with heat lamps to keep us warm. We will return.

We dined here on Valentine's Day, as we had a concert at the Lobero Theater. It was excellent, and the service was superb. The menu is varied, and even has pizza and hamburgers, in addition to many more fine dining selections such as salmon, chicken and steaks. The wine list is very good and the atmosphere is extremely inviting. We will be coming back frequently when we are in Santa Barbara.

We loved our evening at Intermezzo. Our food was very good, the tables were spaced widely in the room we were in, and our server was delightful (as were the food runner & busser). Dinner for two was $200 after tip for a salad and entree for each, and a glass of wine for one of us. That feels like a bit of a stretch based on food alone, but the nice, quiet atmosphere and the truly exceptional service team added up to a terrific overall experience. We'd definitely return.

This is a really great restaurant. Food and service are always phenomenal. Mussels, Steaks, Oysters... some of the best in Santa Barbara. Nice wine list and a beautiful inner courtyard. We definitely recommend Intermezzo.

My husband and I had dinner at the Wine Cask last night. We have eaten there many times over the years but last night was unbelievable! We head the best meal of our lives. The hangar steak was perfectly done. Everything was incredible down to the service. Our waiter, Ian, was fun and attentive. I would recommend the restaurant to anyone who wants a special night out.
