I’ve been coming to 99 Chicken for almost 5yrs now and brought so much friends & family. However, this comment is not for food critics. Actually, let me get this straight the food is 5/5 “hands down”. Unfortunately, this is for the new management who took over from the elderly aka “short Korean lady”. I missed her so much, she’s genuinely care about her customer(s) not because she wanted to make money out of her kindness nor begged us to comeback. In contrary, just to be exact the daughter of the new owner who’s taking orders from dine-in this young lady needs a 101 customer service training “For Real”. She’s definitely micromanaging her customer which is very obnoxious!!! I do not mean to harm your business in any way or in such a way that people will feel uncomfortable or discomfort about you. I wish nothing but good business so you could thrive in this economy. However, let me remind you as your steadfast customer you do not breathe down to our necks we all know that without us you’re going downhill. We are paying in full amount not a penny less so let us enjoy our meal. Stop being “PENNY PINCHER” you will not succeed in the business!

A restaurant specializing in Korean Fried Chicken (KFC) that has been established for many years. It was very popular back then and known for its unique ordering style, where customers had to purchase a certain minimum amount. The restaurant is famous for its double-fried chicken and offers a variety of sauces to choose from.
This was my second visit. I ordered chicken wings to go with mixed sauces for takeout, and the fried chicken was still crispy, flavorful, and yummy. The service was quick and efficient, and overall it was a satisfying experience.

Used to be all all-time favorite korean fried chicken spot, but that was with the previous owner. They now charge $3 per rice, which was the final straw to knock if off the totem pole.

It’s been awhile since I’ve been back here. Boy have they changed. Each person has to order at least 5 pieces of chicken. Okay, more left overs to take home. I just didn’t like the way the waitress was harassing us about our vegetarian friend. She kept insisting that we purchase 5 more pieces of chicken in case our vegetarian friend wanted to eat the lettuce. We kept telling her she is not going to eat the lettuce. The waitress said well we can’t keep watching you guys to make sure. She kept going on and on how people say they are not going to eat the lettuce and end up eating it. I finally had to raise my voice and tell her, again, she got food from next door, there is no reason she would want to eat the lettuce! The waitress finally stopped harassing us about purchasing 5 more pieces of chicken.
That waitress made it very uncomfortable to be there. I occasionally looked back and watched as she stared at us and our food.
Maybe we will wait a couple of years before coming back and hopefully that waitress will no longer be there.

Chicken and sauces are still amazing! Love the unlimited rice. Salad bar is just lettuce, coleslaw, and daikon, but unlimited.

EDITED REVIEW
My daughter went here today.
No more unlimited rice.
Raise in chicken prices. It’s $3 a piece! And they still make you pay for 5 pieces per person!
No reason to ever go back to this place!

While The Bay has so many great places to eat at, you have to make a stop at 99 Chicken if you are in South Bay/Santa Clara. This place has been open as long as I can remember. I would always come here with my friends after class back in the day when we were craving Korean Fried Chicken. As a customer, 99 Chicken's formula of crispy fried chicken, unlimited salad bar (for dine-in customers), and ice cold drinks always equals a good time. Get the Combination Chicken if it's your first time and you can't decide what to get. Ownership has changed hands a couple times now, but the magic is still there. The new family is very sweet and care about their customers. One of the owners (Sabrina) does her best to remember regular customers names which I appreciate truly. It's one of those spots that makes you want to go back again each time. I can't wait to eat here again when I am back in town!

Went here to get take out chicken after hearing about it. Ended up getting the soy garlic and normal fried chicken. The soy garlic one was very tasty and a very savory flavor would def recommend. They both had really good portions. I def wouldn’t getting the normal friend chicken though, it is very bland and also very dry imo. So if you do go here try and get their flavored ones. But for the soy garlic one the food itself was really good and the service for picking up the chicken was quick and easy.

Here is Jensen Huang’s favorite Korean Fried Chicken restaurant?

Thank you!!!

EDIT: It looks like there's a new break in the hours - while respected, we will most likely never be able to make it here again due to our work schedules and where we live. I know several people that are similarly affected and we have already found other restaurants to accommodate us between 3-5PM. Please reconsider this change, we would love to come back to our once go-to chicken place!!

They've mastered the art of crispy yet doesnt have too much batter. I got the soy garlic wings and everything was well balanced and well flavored!

Turned away by the server because my group (total of 5) only wanted to get an order of wings and dumplings and we were told it wasn't enough and we had to order a minimum of 5 wings each person. We were told that due to rush hour it was not possible to accommodate us.

Rush hour where? The restaurant was nearly empty with many seats available and we weren't going to stay long, only 30 mins since we had a reservation at 6pm elsewhere.

Totally would not recommend this place at all. Terrible service and terrible decor!

By having this business model of ordering 5 wings per person, they will loose many customers.

The staff are very rude. They told us in front of everyone that the way we took 2 plates of salad to eat and then number of chicken that we ate is not proportionate. We bought 20 pcs of chicken and they’re telling us that 2 plates of salad per person (6 plates) are not proportionate? They expect us to eat all of the paid chicken to be able to get their “unlimited salad bar”. Staff are very rude! I took a video of the place stating on what happened to us and this old lady pushed me. I was about to call the police because this is assault. They are violent and rude!!! Will file for assault and battery. I have the video that the old lady pushed me.
