Chicken was super excessively greasy. the salad had mold. Minimum $30 order for 10 PCs

They give you gloves to hold it, it's so greasy.

Came 30 minutes before closing, only told us after we paid that takeout doesn't include the free salad bar and rice, was never written in the restaurant. Refuses to communicate after being called out. Very rude attitude. Yelled at me like "no more,no more" with rude hand gestures . And chicken were very dry and overcooked, I guess it's because of the time, but it's still half hour before google official closing time. Also refuse to provide several items. I almost think the owner would hit me when I tried to tell them it's not fair and they should tell us everything before we paid. Really bad experience for my birthday treat. Never go there again. I found out they did the same thing to other people before. I'm Asian, live in Bay area, ate so many Korean restaurants, and I love most of them. But I never confront this kind of rude behavior. The other thing is not only about the attitude they gave to customers, also they can't keep quality. I already noticed that before they close, the chicken cooked really bad. This happened twice already.

We dinned in and ordered the combination. It comes with 10 large pieces of chicken. I ate 4 pieces and was full. When you dine in, they will give you a plate for salad and rice when they serve your chicken. The salad bar has radish, spring mix, coleslaw, cabbage, jalapeño, and salad dressing. Water is self serve.

Flavor wise, it was all pretty standard. The fried chicken (2.5/5) was crispy but doesn’t have that usually airy crunchy texture I get from the fried starches when I eat Korean fried chicken. The meat was a bit bland to me, I felt like it could have been seasoned more. The honey chicken (2.5/5) is just the fried chicken with honey over it. The spicy chicken was more of a sweet and spicy sauce (2.5/3). The sauce chicken (1.5/5) was a bit sweet and tasted a bit like reduced ketchup.

This chicken restaurant customer service is terrible. Fried chicken taste is below average. I don't recommend this place.

Pretty mediocre chicken; nothing special. You get rice and salad bar. Don't try taking your food to go as they yell at you if you box up any side dishes (which are unlimited).

The service of the new management gives me the impression they think everyone is out to steal from them. Sounds like "penny wise, pound foolish". They will immediately jump to yelling at you if you do not follow their rules.

Of 30+ years in the bay area, this is the first time I've experienced this. I don't recommend eating here; there are many better options.

$30bucks for a 10 piece is insane 😆

Amazing flavor though so I suppose I don't mind putting the shops kids through college 🤣

We got introduced to this place by Korean friends, and its the best Korean fried chicken we have had in the area. The honey garlic and spicy is great, the sauce chicken not so much. The potions are big, each wing and drumstick is quite large, and yet they made it juicy and the meat wasn't bland either.

However they have this rule where you have to eat 5 pieces per person when you dine in, presumably to offset the cost of the free rice and salad bar. As I've said the portions are big and it is quite a struggle for my family to finish this many especially if you have children. Given this, despite how great this tastes it is unlikely we'll go back, this is very unfortunate and hence the three stars.

I used to live a 2 minute walking distance from here and it is the best fried chicken I've ever had in the bay area.

I think about this place often and miss living so close. I've tried all the flavors but the Honey Chicken in my opinion is exquisite. Must try!

My first time at 99 Chicken left me with a good impression. I shared the spicy sauce and honey chicken with friends and they were very flavorful and worth the money. The staff are respectful and kind, and I will definitely come back to try other flavors!

*EDIT 2: as case is closed, I hope that your service is better like the development of your response to my review, after you edited it every 15 minutes, from being ignorant to being professional*
*EDIT: Let me clarify something for the owner: We were not trying to lie or deceive anyone. We simply weren't familiar with your policies because we usually order larger portions and have never been reminded of this rule before. WE WERE NOT AWARE OF THE POLICY. If your staff had respectfully informed us of the policy instead of yelling, we wouldn’t be having this conversation.*

I've been coming to 99 Chicken for years. The food? Still great, no complaints there. But today, the experience was entirely different. It seems like there's been a change in management, and unfortunately, it's not for the better.

We arrived at 8:30 PM and ordered 10 wings, half and half. One of my friends was running late and joined us around 9:10 PM. Being mindful that the restaurant closes at 9:30 PM, we politely asked if we could still order something small for her. But since they were closing and they couldn't have us sit there to eat, we were like, "Okay, then let me finish my food and leave."

As I was finishing my last piece, I decided to share it with my friend who arrived late. Thinking nothing of it, I got a bit of salad for her. That’s when things took an unexpected turn. The waitress reached over the counter and yelled at us: "NO, YOU CAN'T DO THAT!"—as if we were stealing food. We were shocked and decided to pay for what we ordered, including the salad my friend barely touched, and leave.

Instead of handling the situation calmly, the waitress escalated it by speaking to someone, possibly the owner, who then aggressively told us to get out and never come back—all while we were already preparing to leave. This was completely uncalled for and very unprofessional.

What bothers me even more is how the business has been addressing reviews like mine. The responses are unprofessional, lacking any sense of humility or social etiquette, and come off as if they were written by a teenager. This isn’t just our experience—many others have also had similar encounters recently, despite being loyal customers for years.

To others reading this: If you decide to visit 99 Chicken, be prepared for the possibility of poor customer service. A polite reminder would have gone a long way, but instead, we were treated as if we were trying to get away with something. Maybe the reason this business feels the need to kick so many people out is that they don't know how to solve problems any other way.
