We used to go to Chimek all the time, but ever since new ownership took over, something has drastically changed. Food isn’t nearly as good, and prices are noticeably higher. Last time we tried, the place was a ghost town on a weekend - we ended up leaving because we didn’t want to try it again if the place was so empty on what should have been a super busy night.

The place is very understaffed. Only one person working the front and one cook in back. Communication is difficult with staff. After our meal, my group ended up with violent food poisoning. Used to go here but their quality dropped significantly.

The green onion and wasabi chicken had raw green onion without seasoning piled on top and it didn’t taste like wasabi. The texture was alright but it had no flavor. The cheddar fries were completely unseasoned and floppy and we salted them ourselves. The Sapporo tasted old.

Don’t get me wrong, this place has good food. Their style of chicken is unique in that they are thinner strips with lots of crispy surface area which goes really well with their spices and sauces. I ordered to go online and it was easy enough.
However, the price point is quite high for what you get in my opinion. Well over 30 dollars for not that much chicken.
Also, the sauces are somewhat underwhelming the way they are applied. It’s like they aren’t tossed in a bowl at all (standard way to sauce wings) but instead the sauce or dry powder is drizzled over them after they’re in the box. I think they could do better for what they’re charging or lower prices
