Paik's Noodle / 홍콩반점 산호세

This is my go to place for jjajangmyeon. The noodle is always fresh and the sauce is perfect. Big portions as well. I have yet to try other dishes. It is always busy and has long waits on the weekend so come early. No reservations. It's first come, first serve. Good for families and friends. Kid friendly place too. The only gripe is that parking lot is small not a lot of parking space once it is full.

The jjamppong (seafood noodle soup) was a tragedy. Jjamppong is supposed to have a 'stir fry' taste in the soup, as if the noodle was fried on a hot wok and then immediately put into the soup. That's what makes jjamppong special! This place did not remotely have that flavor at all. It was just sad droopy seafood & noodles in mediocre soup. Huge disappointment after all the hype -- Is this really the best in the bay area? The cream shrimp and jajangbap omelet rice are not bad, though.

Probably the saltiest meal out I’ve ever had in my life. Although the noodles were excellent and delightfully chewy, the black bean sauce was just nasty. Salt salt salt, sugar sugar sugar. Not much else- no vegetables no meat.

Paik's Noodle might have the best Jjajangmyeon (Black Bean Noodles) in the South Bay. The Jjamppong (Spicy Seafood Noodle Soup) is quite good too. However Paik's feels less like a sit down restaurant and more like a takeout restaurant. Service is perfunctory, seating is limited, parking is nearly impossible and there's always a line. Also there isn't much choice on the menu. For this reason when we want Jjajangmyeon we usually end up at Tongsoon.

Used to be my favorite stop for black bean noodles, there is wait but not for so long, yesterday we tried the noodle but it wasn't as good as before, the pork is getting rough, not tender. Watched the show on Netflix and realized one of the judge is the owner of this restaurant chain.

This is a popular spot so be prepared to wait a while! As mentioned in other reviews, the parking situation is not great. As for the food, this is a casual spot serving delicious korean comfort food. Noodles are bouncy and the portions are generous! Note for vegetarians: you can order the spicy stir fried jajangmyeon (jjaengban jjajang) without the meat, just ask the server and they are very accommodating.

The servers at Hong Kong Restaurant, who are always friendly and delicious, are so kind that it makes me feel good. Thank you.

The jjangmyeon sauce is great, the noodles are perfect texture.
But the jjangppong is advertised as having 5-7 mussels in it, but it seemed we only got 2 or 3.
We know this place is popular already and it’s possible we were just unlucky, but it was just a bit saddening to have had mostly noodles on this 1 outing
