If you like mochi donuts, I don't think you need to try these unless you are trying to catch them all. The dough of the mochi donuts are all the same so you are simply paying for different glazes. Now, those I find to taste quite similar but I don't have the most refined taste buds. But I did notice the texture of the icing to be more sticky than solid. It is probably due to the donut surface having gobs of oil.

As for service and cleanliness, the other critical reviews have said it all. There are also no restrooms or trash cans. If the employees don't even have to deal with those frequently, I am unsure about where their efficiency lies.

Excruciatingly slow service. Empty place, took 9 minutes to get a 1/2 dozen of the featured flavors.

I would rate the food but I can’t, we called to see if they had poke left, and instead of simply looking to see if they had it, they said “please order online, we can’t take phone orders” so we did, drove across town. Only to arrive and be told that they were sold out, AFTER we placed an online order and they took our money. We CALLED to ask and instead of turning hair heads to the left to see if they had poke left they chose not to look, not to do their job, wasted our time, took our money and then when we arrived tried to give us the scrapings of the pan with a 1/4 of a container of poke and offered us a donut.

They REALLY need to get a self checkout. The employees struggle between making dough, frying it, adding icing and taking orders. I think the employees would appreciate one less task that interrupts their whole process.

Exited to try this place from seeing social media posts. Sadly the only good thing I have to report is that the donut was hot. The service was poor, I waited in a line for a while with just one person in front of me as the one and only employee. There was busy filling online orders and not even taking ours. If that’s the case, then they should have more employees. The latte I ordered did not even have coffee in it and was extremely sweet. And the place does not even have a trashcan inside for customers to throw away trash. I won’t be back.

I'll be honest: I'm not a fan of donuts. When offered a donut, I'm one of those people who says, "No thanks." I don't like the taste that lingers in my mouth after the first bite. However, this was a completely different experience. These donuts are made to order, not greasy, and are golden to perfection, light, and "melt in your mouth." The selection of flavors is plentiful enough not to be overwhelming but enough so you can try one of each.

The amiable staff works hard to prepare your order as quickly as possible. I chose the following flavors:

- Cookies & Cream
- Churro
- Black Sesame
- Matcha
- Ube
- Lilikoi

My favorite was the Lilikoi, which I highly recommend trying.

I came around 6:30 pm and ordered the tiramisu mochi donut. The staff was very friendly and made my donut fresh to order. It was the first time trying a mochi donut that was still hot. The fresh mochi donut was really crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, not as chew as when it is cooled down. I was a bit surprised when I bit into it as I was expecting it to be soft and chewy all around. I think I preferred my donut cooled down a bit more as the flavors would settle and would be more chewy. I think it was still too hot for me to taste the tiramisu flavor, tho I do remember it being pretty good when it was cooked down.

There are no seating's in the store, but you could find some just a few step outside by the fountain.

My favorite place for Mochi Doughnuts!!! Fresh made after you order them. Light, Soft, warm, and delightful Flavors!! They also offer delicious ice creams and other drinks here too. All of the flavors are great but some of my favorites are Hawaii Passion Fruit( Lilikoi ), Pandan, Matcha, Ube, and Black Sesame. Glad I get to try the new Pumpkin Spice for the Holidays Season😂

Their donuts taste good but I prefer the texture and taste at "Mochi Donut Shop" in San Francisco. That said, the prices at MoDo Hawaii are much more reasonable than Mochi Donut Shop.

When you come in the morning at least, they make it fresh. I don’t even like mochi donuts, and I thought the fresh ones were amazing

Not much seating

I recently ordered donuts for a work event and everyone loved the donuts. I used doordash, and they arrived in a timely manner, still warm! So so delicious. I highly recommend the lilikoi, black sesame, cookies and cream, and churro flavors.

The donuts are made warm and dipped in front of you. They’re on the pricey side, but so delicious.

I recently visited Modo Hawaii in San Jose, and the donuts were absolutely delicious! They are made fresh to order, so you have to wait about 5 minutes, but it's definitely worth it. The freshness and flavor are unbeatable, and if you have the time, I highly recommend giving them a try. The wait only adds to the experience, knowing you're getting something made just for you. I'll definitely be back!
