Must try the Kothimbir Vadi! It's incredible, the texture, burst of flavor and how it feels in your tummy. The Misal pav, and vada pav very really good too. Highly recommend.

We tried the Vada Pav, Missal Pav, Pav Bhaji and Bharli Vangi (stuffed eggplant) and puranpoli - all of them were 10/10. Although we had to wait a while for our turn (a good sign), the service was quick once we had the table. Highly recommend and we'll be back next time we are in Santa Clara!

Good food! Good service. It would have been great if they had a rack for bike parking!

Low on quantity. Better pay 2$ more somewhere else for same dishes and get satisfactory quantity.
I ordered dinner and lunch for next day, BUT had to eat everything in dinner :P

Amazing food, and you can sit outside in the middle of a small grove of gorgeous redwood trees. If you want silverware, just ask them!

Visited Puranpoli for lunch on a weekday. The menu is all vegetarian and classic and authentic maharashtrian food. We tried their Thali, Misal Pav, Pav Bhaji, Vada Pav, Sabudana Vada,Paneer and Naan, Modak and their signature Puranpoli for dessert. Overall, all of them tasted nice and tasty. Especially the Puranpoli which is a must try. I felt that the thali is little overpriced for the limited quantity of serving. Overall, I recommend this place to anyone who wanted to try authentic maharashtrian food.

We live in Los Angeles, and there are hardly any authentic Maharashtrian restaurants in the entire LA area. Recently, we had to travel to San Jose for some work, and for Maharashtrian food we decided to visit “PuranPoli.” From the very first bite, we instantly fell in love with every single dish here.

The Shivalkar family serves homestyle, authentic, and exceptionally high-quality Maharashtrian food. For anyone craving truly traditional Maharashtrian vegetarian cuisine, “PuranPoli” is the one and only destination — and I say this confidently as a true foodie.

We ordered Sabudana Khichdi, Sabudana Vada, Vada Misal, Kothimbir Vadi, Bharli Vangi, Bhakri, Puran Poli, and Modak. Every dish was authentic, fresh, and absolutely delicious.

I’ve eaten at hundreds of restaurants across Mumbai and Pune, but I have never had a puran poli like the one served here — hot off the griddle, thin, perfectly layered, and filled with beautifully blended, smooth, flavorful puran. The Bharli Vangi and soft, perfectly steamed Ukdiche Bhakri were equally outstanding. The steaming ukdiche modak, made from the same soft dough, were just as exceptional. The taste and crisp of Kothimbir vadi was just Perfect!

I ended up eating here for two days straight. A member of the Shivalkar family is always present at the restaurant, personally supervising every dish. The cleanliness, service, and overall atmosphere are truly commendable.

The flavors of “PuranPoli’s” authentic dishes are going to linger on my palate for days. I strongly recommend everyone in the U.S. to experience this genuine taste of Maharashtra.

The Puranpoli in Santa Clara is a total gem for Maharashtrian food lovers!
Their Thali is off the charts - it's like a flavor explosion of peanuts, garlic, and red chilies. The green chutney with Vada Pav is a must-try, and their Sabudana Vada is truly a crispy perfection!
Yet to me their real star is the Kolhapuri Misal Pav - it's a taste sensation! If you're craving authentic Maharashtra flavors, Puranpoli has got you covered!

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Puranpoli, and I must say it was a truly wonderful experience from start to finish. Everything, from the moment we walked in, spoke of quality and care.

The meal itself was absolutely fantastic. We ordered the [mention a specific dish if you remember one, otherwise generalize: house special thali/signature curry], and the flavors were authentic, rich, and perfectly balanced. Every dish tasted fresh and carefully prepared—a genuine culinary treat.

What truly elevated the visit was the excellent service. Our server was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu, offering great recommendations without being intrusive. The staff ensured we had everything we needed promptly and with a smile.

If you’re looking for a restaurant that delivers both an incredibly good meal and outstanding service, Puranpoli is the place to go. Highly recommended!
