One of the best ramen places in the Bay Area the spicy ramen is must try. The vegan ramen is not as good as the spicy red sauce ramen.
Really worth the long wait line. Will definitely recommend for Ramen lovers

It is always a long wait. We went there on a weekday and stood in the queue.

They don't allow Togo, so order appropriately.

1 bowl was sufficient for 2 people. They allow splitting of the bowl. Some other restaurants don't. So this was good.

They ask for your order upfront, so it does save time.

They have a vegan option.

Overall, a good place to try.

I've been to Ramen Nagi on many occasions, and often times have considered them to be the best tonkotsu broth ramen you can experience in the South Bay Area for a long time. It's no surprise that the location here in Valley Fair always has long lines, usually 1-2 hours at the front before you can be seated. What's even more surprising is how I haven't gotten to write a Yelp Review yet.

But alas I can write some opinion piece and my most recent experience and how it all culminates to this very point in time.

Our draw to this exquisite experience this time around was the limited time Crab King! From what I gathered, it's a deep-fried soft shell crab they serve until March 4th. You want to be the first round during lunch to get a chance to eat this unique bowl, as there is unfortunately a limited number they'll make per day. I wouldn't try to eat this at dinner. Who knows how many they prepare.

So what's the verdict? Honestly waaaayyy tooo salty. The crab itself is fine but the batter they use is rather unacceptable. That's how salty it was. And drinking savory broth didn't help. Water is a must to cleanse the palate. It's served with a ton of thin slices of pork and a gratuitous amount of seaweed which is nice in a OG king soup. And disappointingly, the fried crab got soggy for sitting in the soup. Overall, $19 of disappointment.

Otherwise you go for the other bowls. My favorite broth is actually the veggie king, as I do believe they make the best vegetarian ramen here as well, but otherwise the original king is a staple for me.

You can't go wrong with fried chicken appetizer as I deem these one of the best in the South Bay Area ramen restaurant shops. The rice bowl here itself is fine, if a tad too sweet for my liking, but I wouldn't recommend turning it into a ramen meshi from your ramen broth. The sweetness does not mesh with the savory soup as well as I thought it would... the rice bowl sauce has rather strong flavors.

Overall, they'll blast pretty loud, Asian music in the restaurant, anything from J-Pop, J-Rock, anime, video games, and other pop cultures. This time around, it was nonstop K-Pop.

Vegetarian options: Only the veggie king is the true vegetarian bowl. But I think the veggie king is the best tasting broth from Nagi.

Parking: Mall gives first 2 hours free. Then it’s $2/hr afterwards. Wait times can be 1-2 hours so budget/plan accordingly

Wheelchair accessibility: 2nd floor. Need elevator or escalator to get up

I did NOT like the sauce-drenched karaage. It’s too sweet and is not crispy. Otherwise the ramen (especially the broth with heavy fat level), staff, service, cleanliness were all awesome.

Never wanted to try this place out because it didn’t seem worth the long wait time, and I was right.

Decided to give them a try because they were advertising a Crab King ramen for a limited time. I love crab and was having a bad week so I was looking forward to this a lot. Drove down from SF, got in line before they opened, waited 1.5 hours, and they said they were sold out of the Crab King while we were still in line. No biggie, still decided to try their regular menu.

The gag was that after waiting 1.5 hours and being told it was sold out, two food influencers were seated about 10 min after we got our food. They were then served the Crab King and spent the rest of the time that we were there recording multiple takes of them swirling the noodles around and waving the crab in the air.

It was EXTREMELY disappointing to see this. What’s the point of giving special treatment to food influencers to “advertise” this limited ramen just for normal customers who’ve waited in line for hours to not be able to try something they’re genuinely excited about? It felt incredibly disingenuous and disrespectful.

I understand that the restaurant stated there is a limited quantity of the Crab King set aside for each day, but to serve that ramen not only on the same day but during the same meal service AFTER we were seated, just speaks to their unfair treatment.

No hate to the wait staff - they were friendly and just trying to do their jobs. I just strongly disagree with the practice of giving special treatment to food influencers over regular customers.

Besides that, the ramen that we tried was just okay. I got the Red King and there was not much flavor beyond just the taste of chili oil and pork fat. My boyfriend got the Black King and said it was alright.

Definitely not worth the 1.5 hour wait. There’s better ramen all over the bay so I won’t be coming here again.

So weirdly fishy for the red king, waited 1.5 hr in line. Had better ramen.

This is my favorite ramen place...well mine and judging by the long line many others as well. Love that you get to customize the salt, oil, garlic and type of noodle. My favorite is the black squid ink light salt light oil light garlic with normal thick noodle and pork belly; spicy level 4. Ramen egg is perfectly soft boil. Broth is flavorful. Everything worked well. Get the chicken karage if it's available. Perfectly crispy with a slight garlic soy sauce flavor. There's a mayo egg sauce (well thats what I think it is) that comes with it... not sure how but it totally works with the chicken. Service is quick and friendly.
Updated 3/2/25 limited edition Crab King, Get it if you can. Limited quantities per day. Hint of crab flavor in the broth. A whole, fried soft shell crab comes with the bowl.

Fantastic ramen, basically for its pricing I'd say it's the best ramen I've ever had.

Do come early though, lines are massive daily at peak times.

After trying many ramen spots locally this still holds up as the top 2 ramen spots I've ever had.

Also price wise it's very fair, check out their limited runs too which are all fantastic.
