I think Chungdam is one of the best Korean restaurants in the Bay Area. Understandably its price reflects that ranking.I think its decor is the best. It feels very much like a high priced Korean restaurant. In terms of food, I think only 10 Butchers has better Korean food. But it has more variety, especially vegetarian dishes.Service is good. The BBQ meat is all grilled for you as one would expect when you're paying prices like $85 for kalbi.

Disappointing for the price point. Meats were not at all well trimmed, many of the beef dishes had fat and gristle. When we told the waitress the kalbi was raw inside they took back the part eaten portion and recooked it; they should have cooked us a new order. Service was helpful when ordering but we were not checked on often enough while eating. Would not recommend.

The staff was so nice and helpful. I asked so many questions, and my server answered all without seeming bothered. The food was so good and hot.

The service is really good! We’re a group 4 and seated in one of the inner rooms. Tons of side dishes, fast refill of hot tea, and the beef is tasty. I also love the octopus dish a ton.

Employees here were great. One of them brought my wallet to me outside when I left it on the table by mistake.

If You were born and raised in Korea. You could see how Korean dishes taste! I think all dishes served here are made by real Korean chef! Soup and broth taste perfectly salty, also have umami taste to it. It seems to me that they can reproduce the original taste as 90% or more than as i got in Korea. The way they cook is very similar with how most Korean restaurants are cooking in Korea. I think Chungdam is an upscale and high-end version of Korean dishes! You don’t have to go to Korea to enjoy Korean comfort foods![Update] 2024.2.24I have been going to Cheongdam occasionally since the summer of 2017, and now I can see that they are very frugal with ingredients. In the $42 (60,000 won including Korean tip) stir-fried squid, only the ears and legs of the squid are visible and only the vegetables are empty. I just leave disappointed. The artificial taste of fire, possibly due to the addition of wood vinegar, is also frowned upon. Sogukbap contains three pieces of meat... . I guess it's hard to keep your original intention.

Pretty tasty but only worth it if you have the money to spare! Glad I tried it, but I don't think I'd go there if I had to spend my own money. Many thanks to Jon's parents! Definitely enjoyed the sides too, make sure to eat up all the cool pickled dishes they give you.

The meat is horrible comparing to a couple years ago for an extremely high price. The small dishes are pretty bad too. The waitress threw away a pair of relatively expensive toddler chopsticks when we forgot them there. Very unprofessional.

Service is great but the food wasn’t as good as what the price point would suggest.- Meat was on the fattier side. Tender but the marinated galbi was too sweet for me.- Steamed egg was pretty pricey for just adding fish eggs. Didn’t taste as good as normal steamed egg imo.- Seafood pancake was really crispy and thick and packed with octopus. This was my favorite- The dessert was tomato with pineapple purée which was a little weird.Overall, all their banchan and dishes had a seafood forward flavor which got overwhelming after a while. Would have preferred to spend a similar amount at 10 butchers instead.

We chose to sit at a non-bbq table, which was much shorter wait than a bbq table. You can still order bbq but it’s cooked in the kitchen. The meat was flavorless and dry. To be fair, we were told the kitchen-cooked meat is going to be slightly less tasty. But the food quality is unacceptable for such prices, and it’s hard to imagine that their meat grilled right on the table would make a huge difference.

The best restaurant in Santa Clara. The taste and service are both satisfactory, but there is one thing..... the price is also the most expensive. The quality of the food here is so special that it can't be compared anywhere else, and the water kimchi they serve as a side dish is crazy. Needless to say, the meat is of the highest quality, and the other appetizers are not the ordinary taste you get at other restaurants, but are of high quality that can only be found at high-end restaurants. I definitely recommend it for a special day when you have some time to spare.
