Shihlin Taiwan Street Snacks

Walking through Westfield on the second floor I can smell the fried chicken and so many people were eating it. It was just okay. No Thai basil but the flavor was there but not strong. Chewy batter that was not super crispy but had a nice texture.

Service could be more organized and streamlined. It should not take over 25 minutes to prepare orders from a limited menu. There shouldn’t be such a large crowd waiting for food.

One of the employees (young fellow) tries hard, but it always looks like the staff is running around like chicken with their heads cut off.

The food itself tastes good. All that’s needed is a more organization and better leadership.

The chicken in the popcorn chicken wasn’t fresh at all. It had a bad smell. I only managed to eat one piece and had to throw the rest away.

ordered a takeout, told me available in 10 minutes, actual wait time is 35 minutes. Many people behind me got their order. I guess they only make popular items. Also omelette is over cooked. Burnt.

waited 40 min for a fried chicken thigh, asked the guy why all the people that came after me got their order, his said ‘your order has chili, takes a long time to make and doordash comes first’

I am only rating the popcorn chicken. It’s legit. There’s a wait because it was made fresh and they did provide a warning. It was good. Juicy and for a walk around snack to share between people….it works. I’ll take this snack over the pretzel. However, I can’t provide an opinion on the other items.

ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING!
I ordered the chicken rice, and every single bite was filled with eggshells—not just one, every bite. It was inedible. Completely unacceptable. I’m never coming back, and I seriously question their hygiene and food safety standards! This is beyond careless!

It's 10:50, and the shop opens at 10:00 according to google.

Nothing was able to be ordered except drinks.

If the stall had just been closed I would have been fine but there was zero signage about unavailability for food to be ordered.

Got the popcorn chicken and oyster vermicelli to go. It takes 15-20 min to fulfill your order so be prepared to wait a bit.

There is a self service kiosk at the counter to order food and pay credit. You then get a receipt with a number. When your number is called, your order is ready for pick up. There’s a number display that’s easy to see what number is up. If you want to pay cash, you can’t use the self serve kiosk. Staff take your order instead.

There’s popcorn chicken has decent flavour but it is missing basil. That’s a staple for popcorn chicken. It would also be better if it came with some sort of dipping sauce like spicy mayo. The batter is good though and it’s not overly oily.

The oyster vermicelli has good flavour. It only has 4 small oysters. I asked for extra cilantro and there were 3 pieces of cilantro, how is that extra? Still a good dish but would have been even better with more cilantro.

Both dishes came out to $20 so not a horrible price.

Convenient location and good service, food !

The people there are very nice and gave me some free snacks when it was about to close.
