The Restaurant Fest Prix Fixe Menu comes out fast. Service was warm and the plates were pretty yet delectable!
The $100.00 fish platter for 2 was horrible. Very little portions for 2 people and tasted old and bland. One of the worst dishes I have ever experienced. Skewer Appetizer was tasty good as well as bread.
If you want to see and be seen, apparently you can overlook the mediocrity, inconvenience and substandard food to come here. Had a Reservation for outside. Then told it would be “a long wait” to be outside. Noise level was so high you could barely talk to the person across from you. Food? 8 people. Opinions ranged from ok to no thank you. Burata. Grainy. Mushroom pasta? What mushrooms? Sausage pasta - tasteless. Honestly. No flavor at all. We were running late so valet parked $40. Omg. Not one thing about this experience would bring me back. But I doubt they'll be around for long.
Weirdly bad food given its at eataly. The grilled food tastes like chemical lighter fluid and the service is bad. Go to the other restaurant in eataly instead.
Food quality and flavor seem to have declined since our last visit. Even though the restaurant was only about three quarters full, our server apologized for a busy night for the spotty service. Although the food was served promptly by the runners, the server was MIA, we had to go look for him to get the check and takeout boxes. My wife and I agreed that Pizza Antica would have been a better choice.
Service was terrible. Timing on food was terrible. The manager Dave even stopped by the table said he would make everything wonderful but never saw him again. It took 25 minutes to get our main entrees, way after our starters and appetizers were served weirdly soon. The whole lunch was off and chose this for my birthday. Will never come back@
Restaurant Fest starting at $26... but even with all the marketing stating this, it started at $36. Another server was more attentive to us than our server. Hostess also said that even though everything says Restaurant Fest started 10/7, weeks ago couldn't participate in that because of “the system”. She had to send the manager to our table. Food is always good here. Service also a hit or miss. Last night was a miss. Marketing also a miss
Poor quality food.
We were served frozen poorly geared food at a VERY EXPENSIVE price.

The lady working at the service center near the cashiers on the 3rd floor was really rude when we politely asked where the elevators were. She glared and pointed towards the elevators without a smile as though we were stupid. We came through the parking lot on the 3rd floor so we never used the elevators to get up. Sadly, she must really hate her job.
Lovely atmosphere and service but the food was horrible—we were shocked. My lasagna tasted exactly like canned Chef Boyardee. And my partners pizza crust was so thin and burnt it tasted like a cigarette. Wish I was kidding. Left very unhappy for the price we paid for what we received. Won’t be back.

Want to take a trip to Italy go to Eataly.
Thank me later
Clients to San José Eataly should be careful buying in the “wine store.”
The “manager, ” Jacob, sold us a supposed 90+ point case of 2015/13 Bertani Amarone at a discount of about $100/bottle. I wondered why it was discounted. Well, it was vinegar, that’s why. Not sure if it was a storage issue, or some other known defect, but it was not even suitable for cooking. Certainly, they knew there was an issue or such a wine wouldn’t be offered cheaply. This was originally $150 per bottle.
I sent photos of the vinegar wine via their email to their manager Jacob. To his credit, he offered us a full refund, and we returned the wine, including the opened bottle (which was corked), which I offered them to taste.
Then the story then got very strange.
About 3 weeks after returning the wine at Eataly, an opened box containing the exact bottles appeared at my doorstep. Including the opened bottle with the cork in it! How they got my address, whether it was sent via USPS or dropped off via individual is unknown.
Immediately getting the chills as I feared Eataly was now transporting open bottles of alcohol to me, I called and asked to speak with a manager. I was told that there was no manager available. No manager on any of the 4 floors of a major merchant at Westfield Valley Fair mall?! That’s right, the wine associate claimed, no manager.
However, feeling stalked and generally creeped out, I insisted on follow-up from someone who knew what had happened here. I provided my phone number and email. It’s been about a month.
I’ve heard nothing….
Is this a crazy (and creepy) story? Sure is. Be very careful buying wine at Eataly. Especially since you never know if someone there is planning to come to your home after the fact…. 😳😱

the grab and go food downstairs was not good. Porchetta Panini and Suppli, couldn't finish not good at all, the panini bread was more like thick tortilla. Nothing close to what we eat in Italy.

Portion sizes for pizza and Focaccia antipasti are good but embarrassingly small for Ravioli.
