We enjoyed the old school vintage decor and service was pleasant. Our meals were prepared quickly and tasted great. We were staying in the area for a family event, and glad we were nearby to Backwoods Inn.

The service, ambience and cocktails are amazing! My family and I have been coming for years, and it's always been special. We even traditionally come for holidays. However, Recently we still keep coming hoping the food will be better, but it seems to be getting worse. It's a steakhouse and no matter what the cut, or how you ask it to be cooked... the steaks come out overdone and bland. The prices are priced like a steak house should.... but the dinners are just not good. It makes me sad to make this review. But I hope something changes!

A great place for great steaks snd more. Service has always been great. Cocktail Drinks have been well made. Ambiance is rustic and welcoming. I look forward to going each time I go.

I have been going to the Backwoods Inn for approximately 40 years and I've had over the years decent service and good food! Unfortunately, on March 18th,I took my wife for a birthday dinner and within two days we both got deathly sick with my with my wife going to the doctor and we had food poisoning! It was confirmed by the doctorThere was cross contamination ,salmonella, or some kind of bacteria! These things do happen at restaurants but I'm appalled at the response from the owner! I called and talked to the manager Rita three times. I relayed my issues with the food poisoning, which was one of the worst I've had ever had, and and she said she would notify Carol the owner with no response in on over a week! it was a one time incident, but it has must be addressed! An apology was OK, but not addressing the issue! my wife lost two days of work, and it took us to this Sunday to start getting back to feeling better! My wife and I will not go to this restaurant again, but I just thought it has to be told so you make a decision if you would like to eat there! It could be rare, but it did happen! I hope this helps your decision in dining at the Backwoods Inn! And I hope the owner who is in the restaurant business would be more involved in a situation like this! Responding to good reviews is great but you also have to respond to all situations in your business!

The location, ambiance, and service were out of this world!!! Truly like eating in the old west. The food was good but not great. I had the ribeye and famous loaded potato, with a salad. My buddy had the filet mignon, potato, and a salad. We both agreed the loaded potato was pretty good, but the meat was a little dry/overcooked. Our overall experience was really good, in part die to our stellar waitress who was amazing!

3/20/24 I had the pleasure of dining at here and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The highlight of the evening was undoubtedly the perfectly cooked porterhouse steak I ordered. Every bite was bursting with flavor, cooked to perfection just as I like it. The twice baked potato was amazing! What truly set this dining experience apart was the impeccable service provided by Sandy, our server. She was not only knowledgeable about the menu but also went above and beyond to ensure that we had a memorable and enjoyable time. Her attentiveness and friendly demeanor made the evening even more delightful. Overall, I highly recommend Backwoods for anyone looking for a fantastic dining experience with delicious food and outstanding service. I will definitely be returning soon!

The Backwoods Inn is a rustic steakhouse with the wonderful smell of mesquite in the air. One of the best things about the food is the flavor of the steaks come through without reliance on lots of salt or multiple additional seasonings. Maybe for some folks this is a negative, but not in our case. There is salt, pepper and steak sauces available to add to your food as you desire. Also, on the menu is a variety of seafood such as Halibut, shrimp, king crab legs, lobster and others. If you prefer, chicken, ribs, pork chops and/or pasta. Lots of choices for members of your party. We ordered the filet mignon, the sirloin, the stuffed baked potato, (it was huge) veggies, salads and garlic bread. All the food was delicious. In addition, Backwoods makes several of their own salad dressings, such as the ranch, blue cheese, and thousand islands. The service was on point and all the staff were friendly and helpful. Yet another great small business right here in Santa Clarita that is definitely worth your patronage.

We went on a weeknight and it was very quiet. I had salmon and it was very fresh. We also liked the stuffed potato. Friendly service.

This had been a family favorite for over 20 years. The atmosphere is absolutely adorable but I'm so afraid that there is new management or cook staff. The last three times we went we were so disappointed. All the steaks had a smoke rub flavor and every cut tasted the same plus on all three occasions the steaks were overcooked. The twice baked potatoes were half the size and tasted like they were reheated from the previous day. I can't even tell you how heartbreaking this is to me and my family. I also have a friend who went recently and had the exact same experience.

Lived out here since 1963. Went to Backwoods Inn as a kid. I have found BWI very hit or miss type restaurant. I saw jumbo crab legs on a SCV post. They were huge. Called to make sure they had them since they can be seasonal. Wish I took a photo of what I received . It looked like the scraps from a tiny crab. The legs so small and thin it was a joke. Pay market price for that? Hubby had the halibut and the skin was so rubbery that only until he removed it, he could eat it. Not sure if you are supposed to eat the skin but since it was seasoned and served skin or tough side up. Not sure. Pretty expensive meal for what we got. Sad and disappointing for sure. I guess you should stick to ordering steaks and not seafood here.

Good food at a great price! The service was quick and the servers were very attentive. We liked the old school look and feel of the restaurant.

I grew up in Santa Clarita and had come to enjoy The Backwoods Inn over many years. Unfortunately, probably never again. My girlfriend took me her for Valentine's dinner last week and the food was good, but when we were packing up our leftovers we realized one of our appetizers that we wanted to take home with us had been taken away by the server. When we asked her about it she was very dismissive, didn't offer to replace it or anything and we still tipped her well, but thought it was a little strange.A few days later my girlfriend checked her bank and found that she had apparently been charged $150.00 twice. As much as that issue has appeared to be resolved, when my girlfriend ( and later myself) originally tried to speak to the owner (Carol) aboutit, she didn't seem to want to hear either of us out and we both felt like we received the same "oh well" attitude from the owner as we did from the server. The food is good and other experiences were definitely better, but if a problem does arise, too bad. There are a lot of great restaurants in the Santa Clarita Valley and The Backwoods Inn seems not to be what it used to be. You may want to try a different restaurant.
