There are many great coffee shops in Santa Cruz, but 11th Hour is the crown, in part because of the great light coming into the space, the plants and brick, and in large part due to the terrific, always shifting music. It is not muzak but real play lists with lots of music I don't know but find myself moving to. Nothing says great atmosphere better than great music--oh yeah, and terrific people, both the servers and the guests.

I dream of this coffee shop since I moved away. Great atmosphere with plants and a sweet patio.

I rarely do reviews but my experience here was so negative. I wanted to share my thoughts. First of all the coffee was fine and the atmosphere was fine also for my first hour there. Music seemed a little loud but not too bad. There’s a second kitchen here and they started off a competing music quite loud after I’ve been there for an hour. So there was a sort of cacophony between the two music sources and occasionally it was really unpleasant and cross resonating and my ears started ringing. My basic decision was whether to leave or to ask somebody to do something about the competing music. so I went to the main counter and told them about my issue without asking for anything to be done. They offered to ask the kitchen to turn their music down. I thank them for their response and told them not to bother. And then I left. My thinking is you shouldn’t have two competing loud music sources when you’re serving the public. Turning one of them down a bit is not gonna solve the problem. Piping the same music through both sources would certainly solve the problem. Once again, I enjoyed the coffee and experience for about an hour of my time today. I talked to the people around me and one of them was the one who suggested the right word was cacophony. My personal opinion is you need to address this music problem.

Coffee and vibes were chill but the biscuit breakfast sandwich was unreal. Came for the coffee and most definitely stayed for the breakfast. Cool spot and run really well. Appreciate all the heart that goes into the food and drinks, it really shows. Hope to be back one day!

Amazing atmosphere, amazing coffee, great place to cowork. My one major gripe is that they upcharge $1.50 for oat milk. Life is already hard enough in the lactose intolerant, why make it harder?

Would come here way more often if it wasn’t for this small thing.

The only bummer about this place is limited outdoor power supplies and the fact that they don't currently have a punch card system, which would be a nice perk as a regular coffee house hanger.
That aside, Julia is a gem and this place is lovely.

Line of people to order and cashier was just standing there talking with barista. Barista not calling out names or anything for drinks. Everyone was confused. Barista incredibly unapproachable to all the customers. Nobody knew which drink was which. Someone ended up taking my drink (understandably) had to get a refund because I couldn’t want any longer.

Not sure why they’re asking for tips if I had to bus my own tip like should I clock in and get paid for bussing my own table. Beyond the point but the coffee was below average but the shop itself was pretty cool.

Coffee, food, servers, decor: great.

The problem is that the WiFi is unsecured. Recently, my virtual credit card was hacked. It was on the same day that browser was giving warnings about unsecured network. Hundreds of $ of false charges ensue. VPN might work, but I have to turn it off to deploy code.

Art Center is one of my favorite places. Long ago, my partner was a co-owner of India Joze. I love this place. But --please-- secure your WiFi.

11th Hour has always been my go to coffee shop. Not only do they have amazing blends of coffee that they roast in house. They also have excellent relationships with local vendors to offer incredible food and tea's. I work here a couple days a week for several hours at a time and the atmosphere and customer service is unmatched. It's one of my favorite places in the entire county to enjoy a cup of coffee and relax.
