“Quaint and friendly atmosphere. Food was outstanding, beautiful presentation with balanced flavor profiles and creative recipes using simple ingredients. We had the seared scallops, farm salad, ravioli verde, gnocchi with pork ragu and the halibut. To drink I had a surprisingly good Dolomiti pilsner that was flowery and crisp, and we also had a Borolo red and a fantastic white I can't recall the name of that was recommended by our server. We were pleasantly surprised and will definitely go back. Oh, they change their menu weekly so expect new dishes.”

“Everything here was amazing. We got the pork dumplings and hot oil which was probably some of my favorite dumplings i think I’ve ever had, plus they’re handmade. The Dan Dan noodles were phenomenal, perfectly spicy and numbs the back of your throat with how much Sichuan pepper they put in it. Then we got the Red chili pepper chicken, which had an abundance of chilies, peanuts fried garlic, and was also amazing. Plus they home make their own soy sauce, which is also amazing. 10/10 would Chinese food again.”

“? Lasooni Wings - These were fantastic. Garlicy, full of spice, and very lowkey spicy with a gentle sweetness in the background, while the flavour of the chili (oil?) is the more major flavor with the garlic coming in after. It's just a slight tingle of spicy. Very tender and moist.?Garlic Naan - gentle garlic taste, and very gentle doughy background. These were good.?Chicken Tikia Masala - complex creamy savory spiced flavour throughout. Very gentle hint of sweetness and sourness. The chicken within is breast meat, cooked perfectly so it's not dry. We got the mild spice level, this was also fantastic.?Mango Lassi - I loved it. Not too sweet, creamy, light mango flavour throughout the background.?Overall, each time I've gone here, I've had a great meal.”

“Hubby had been here before, but I had not. He raved about their excellent, smooth coffee, which is served by the small mugful, then refilled upon request. I toned it down with almond milk and sugar because it's strong! Hubby had the Omelette Mexicano with a side of sausage links. I had the Omelette Santa Cruz with cheddar cheese. Both came with house potatoes and were quite generous portions. The food was good, the service excellent and the Saturday morning vibe was perfect, with Brazilian music in the background. “Steamer Lane is the place to be! Everything on the menu is delicious, and the staff are very friendly and care deeply about the community of Santa Cruz. Their menu has expanded over the years, and a lot of care is taken by the whole team to make sure the all of their offerings are really tasty and inclusive to all dietary needs.I have celiac disease, and typically feel safe eating here. They have a handful of very tasty gluten free items, and are very friendly and accommodating. I love the breakfast tacos, poke and other fish bowls, fish tacos, chicken leg plate, and the burger (with no bun). As with pretty much all places, not guaranteed to have no cross contamination, but if you want them to take extra precautions, just ask! I remind them I have celiac and they do a great job :)Dietary restrictions: Options for vegan, vegetarian, and gluten free. You can ask for accommodations too (ie no cheese, or add cabbage)”

“Achilles is by far the best Mediterranean food I’ve tasted and what makes it so much better is the customer service that surrounds you. I work for a veteran nonprofit, and I chose Achilles by the sea for a food option. The owner Elias personally reached out to me, and I have never ever received such kindness and support that I received from him. He is such a great guy, and the food that he prepares for his customers is beyond, amazing. I cannot explain how grateful we are for the support of Achilles. The veterans were so grateful and they all complemented on how great the dinner was. So, on behalf of Operation Surf, we want to highlight Achilles by the sea, and the amazing staff that supported our Veterans, staff and volunteers alike. Thank you again and I highly recommend you trying this restaurant, you will not be disappointed.”

I called a week earlier to reserve a table for 8 and was quickly accommodated. Not to mention whoever answered and took my reservation was kind, friendly and had great phone etiquette. When I walked in our reservation was clearly marked and the woman pouring wine and acting as hostess was amazing. She was quick to get our tastings together and made sure to ask if we needed anything and was just so pleasant all around. We all mentioned how we wished we new about this soot sooner. Wine was nice and I ended up buying 2 bottles. Looking forward to my next visit.”

Every ingredient in the meat mix came through uniquely and beautifully. The salad dressing was so bright and delicious that I wanted to drink it, and the spicy red sauce added the perfect extra kick to the dumplings, if you like spice like me, you would definitely enjoy. Got the whole plate for $13 (including tax).I thoroughly enjoyed my experience, and I didn’t even get to the drink menu. But based on the reactions of other customers who got drinks while I was there, their drink menu is also very satisfactory. Highly recommend!”

“The food taste like great Taco Bell food. Clean most of the time. Quick service. The only issue is the amount they serve here. It seems like they've never been audited on the weight or quantities of the servings. The food is always so light or half scooped or something at this location. Apparently Kiosk orders only at the time too. Most of the staff has decent/expected/acceptable customer service when they need to interact. Experience was average. “It's a great place to just go grab a snack and just chill with family or friends. There is no drive through but for the most part the service is still really fast. I don't think I have ever waited longer than five minutes, even during their busiest hours. All in all it's a great McDonald's to stop at. As for cleanliness, it was surprisingly clean. From the dining areas to the bathroom. Even the parking lot was tidy. The only reason I didn't give it five stars was the employees were not that friendly. Other than that I have no complaints. If you're planning to stop in for a quick bite to eat I highly recommend this establishment.Parking: Sometimes it's kinda packed so you might have to part on the street. If you. The bartender is very friendly & knowlegable; I had the beer flight which had everything from a refreshing lite beer, a porter that had notes of chocolate; vanilla, & caramel; an ipa that was not too overwhelmingly hoppy, a stout that was crisp & nutty. I got a can of their raspberry beer, stout, & porter to go (they have sell by the can as well.) I was not disappointed & will be back to try their food. So, for wonderful beer in a quaint relaxing atmosphere with friendly service at reasonable prices, Woodhouse cannot be beat. Keep up the good work guys.”

Namaste Indian Cuisine 1501 Mission St, Santa Cruz Indian • $$

“I visited this Namaste location recently and had a good meal. The restaurant has a nice ambiance and the servers are friendly and attentive. We had the khadai bindi, a flavorful dish with okra. The okra was lightly charred which gave it a delicious texture and flavor. It was slightly salty for my taste but I enjoyed it. We also had the adrak ki aloo gobi, a dish with cauliflower and potatoes. This one was spicier but good. Vegan items are clearly marked on the menu.”

“I don’t understand how an amazing coffee shop can, at there discretion, close there coffee shop at any time they want? Why would u treat loyal customers this way. Sometimes posted in Instagram, sometimes not. So inconsiderate of daily customers. Very disappointing to walk all the way there, excited for my greeting from the staff and my great latte, only to find a note on the door, closed at 11:30? How can u feel good about people showing up and not open and it isn’t even close to 3:00? Confusing to me how everything else but this one issue can be perfect?”

“If you're looking for traditional sushi, this maybe isn't the place, but if you're up for some crazy and delicious rolls, this spot is so fun! I will say the rolls are enormous. If I order two, I end up bringing a box of food home. I love the tsunami roll. I was eating there alone and I think my server kinda forgot about me...took about 15 minutes to get a water and place my order. But I still recommend! The sushi chef facing me was so kind. I unfortunately don't remember his name but he was lovely!”

“My bookclub was having its first meeting and after reading reviews and looking at the pictures this seemed like the coziest spot to delve into literature.

The Apéro Club 402 Ingalls St unit #29, Santa Cruz Wine Bar • $$

“Where do I even start Apéro Club simply is one of my new favorite places on Earth. I was shown this spot a couple weeks ago by my cousin, and have been back 5-6 times - each time meeting the absolute best people, having the best wine I've ever tried, and honestly just felt like I'm at a home away from home. I've came solo 5/6 of those times, and each time made new friends and had the most incredible conversations and experiences. Hannah is truly a gem, one of a kind, and the most welcoming soul I've ever met. This has been an after work solace, and a place to go and relax and let go of worries. If you come here and don't have a great experience, you simply have bad taste. I'm not sorry. I love the Apéro Club and you will too.”

It's reasonable pricing for Capitola, and you won't have to deal with the worst things to exist on this side of town: tourists.
