Sante Adairius • Santa Cruz Portal Brewery • $$
1315 Water St, Santa Cruz

“Sante Adairius Rustic Ales offers an exceptional beer selection; the highlighted brew was particularly noteworthy. The accompanying pizza surpassed expectations, boasting delicious flavors. Keep in mind that the brewery tends to get quite busy around 5 o'clock, so plan accordingly. Additionally, it's a very kid-friendly place, making it a great option for families.“

Shanty Shack Brewing Brewery • $
138 Fern St, Santa Cruz

“Swell place, only been once, coming back for sure! Tried the light lager they had on tap - decent - and had a sip of some berry brew -not my preference, but it was a good brew. Looks funky with their beer barrels in the back and a humongous heated patio.“

Humble Sea Brewing Co. Brewery • $$
820 Swift St, Santa Cruz

“It's not hyperbole when I say that Humble Sea makes the best beer I've ever had. The bummer for me is that where I live it's hard to come by. That's why when I'm in Santa Cruz I make sure to stop by and stock up. I've only stayed and had a beer once at the brewery but it was nice and clean plus they have a decent sized patio. To be honest they could be selling the beer out of the back of a van by the train tracks and I'd still go there.“

Anzani Cider Brewery •
1861 Jarvis Rd, Santa Cruz

“This is the best cider I’ve ever tasted! After having a taste at the Scotts Valley Arts & Wine Festival - I found it at Saison Wine Bar in Scotts Valley. I love that it’s a craft cider and when you meet Ka’nete, the cider maker, you’ll hear his passion for brewing throughout every part of his story.Strawberry ? and peach ? flavors are my favorites!“

“I have visited breweries all across the world, and this is one of the most interesting projects I've ever come across. Brad is an insanely knowledgeable brewer, with a phenomenal vision.I wish i could get a membership but alas there is only a wait-list available as of writing. If you get the chance, get your hands on his beer. Exquisite stuff.Brad, thank you for your dedication to the craft, and your pursuit of excellence: you've achieved something truly great with Private Press.“

New Bohemia Brewing Co. Brewery • $$
1030 41st Ave, Santa Cruz

“I'm giving this a 4 because I feel it has the potential to move up from it's secure spot as a three star...The beers I tasted were quite nicely done and the establishment has all the makings for success provided they improve on the customer satisfaction, attentiveness and food quality. Pretzel was average because everything served with it was improper temperature and subpar, at best. Still quality beers...“

Santa Cruz Mountain Brewing Brewery • $$
402 Ingalls St #27, Santa Cruz

“Great option for lunch! Was so excited for the banh mi but slightly let down it had parsley instead of cilantro. I guess the menu does say “herbs” but jalapeños were absent. Would be 5 stars if it had the cilantro, jalapeños, and more pickled daikon and carrot and aioli as it was a bit dry to match the bread. I’ll try to pork next time but it was sold out. Definitely want a decent banh mi in this town!Update!! Had pork banh mi January 2024. Contains one small slice of pork the size of slice of bacon for $15. The bread was way more fresh and more aioli and pickled veggies packed a punch. Still no jalapeño. Still looking for a truly amazing banh mi that seem to be so inexpensive and commonplace in other towns.“

Capitola Tap House Brewery • $$
401 Capitola Ave, Capitola

“This is a fun place to go with friends to try a variety of local kombucha, beer, wine, and coffee. One of my favorites is Living Swell's kombucha Notorious which is a raspberry and lemon flavor that tastes amazing on tap! Amy the owner is very nice and helpful about what to try. She is offering food now too that I look forward to trying asap. Plenty of comfy seating inside and there is an outside bar as well. It's right in the Capitola village and a short walk to the beach so it's location is perfect. This is definitely worth a stop next time you get a chance and it's always awesome to support a local business.“
