“This food was amazing!! Got chicken tikka masala, lamb vindaloo, tandoori chicken, Raita, rice and mango lassi. The mango lassi was so good my daughter order another to go after drinking hers and half of mine. Lamb was soft and vindaloo sauce was the perfect amount of spicy and tangy. The tandoori came on a sizzling plate and was tender and flavorful. Chicken tikka was also delicious. Definitely would eat here again! Parking was right at this location but sounds like they have a bunch of others which seems amazing bc this place was so fantastic it’s hard to imagine keeping this quality.“

“I have been visiting the restaurant quite often ever since posting my older review(below) and since the place passed onto new management.
I have to say the quality of the food has improved by leaps and bounds. It is now a great place for a no frills Indian comfort food experience.
Since I work at UCSC, I automatically get a college discount upon request at the counter (this will not work through Grubhub or any other food delivery service). You would need to dine at the restaurant or pick up the food yourself.
I also think their current $14 lunch buffet (after UCSC discount) is a steal compared to other food options in downtown Santa Cruz. I would also say it’s the best Indian buffet experience on this side of the Hill (Monterey Bay Area) . Next place you would need to do is San Jose.
The current staff are very nice and hospitable as well.

1.5 YEAR OLD REVIEW:
They make pretty decent Goat curry. The cooking style feels more from the Himalayan region than from North India or South India. The chicken pakoras are savory as well.
I felt like the Goat Biriyani could have used more flavor. I am not buying that item again. But I am definitely coming back for Goat curry and chicken Pakoras.
Side note: They do not include rice in the entrees . You will have to separately order for rice.
Vegetarian options: Great assortment of vegetable pakodas, paneer dishes, koftas
Dietary restrictions: It is advisable to ask the server for specific ingredients in case there is such a need
Parking: Many free parking options available
Kid-friendliness: Kid friendly place“

“My favorite Indian restaurant in Santa Cruz county. I love Indian food but I usually can’t handle too much spicy. Ambrosia is very thoughtful about that, they make a delicious food just right and if you want to add more spice you can. My favorite is the buffet, because you can try many different dishes. Love this restaurant!“
