Watering Hole Bar • $$
2405 Mission St, Santa Cruz

“Ok, this place has looked like a scary, dark and dirty bar....I'd never venture in there, even with a burly escort BUT it has changed hands and it is spotless, friendly, bright and inviting. A nice addition to the neighborhood. My partner noticed the door open the other day and stopped in to check it out. He called me to change our pre dinner meeting place from nearby Parish Pub to the Watering Hole. He said it was safe.lol. Anyway, it's great. Drinks are good, beer is $4. New owner is very friendly. We wish them great success.“

Shot of Jameson Irish Whiskey

“Drove down from SF and wandered into the bar to have a couple of drinks while waiting for friends to arrive from out of town. Super friendly staff and customers. Drinks were very well priced and the music was great. Was very happy and look forward to dropping by the next time I pass through Santa Cruz.“

The Jury Room Bar • $
712 Ocean St, Santa Cruz

“My friend had a 6am Bloody Mary that was like dinner and a show all in one. The bartender.. Melanie(? Pardon if memory failed me) was a gem and somehow personable at that horrid hour. There were regulars who told tales as charming as the classic movie playing on the TV's. I don't drink (but try a sprite/orange juice yum) and I would definitely frequent the Jury Room for my morning coffee and company.“

“Nice "local pub" atmosphere.Friendly service.Good conversation.Jovile, easy-going mountain folk.REFRESHING is the best word to describe Montys Log Cabin.Parking: Not many spaces. You may have to hike a bit.Considering Henry Cowel Redwoods State Park is literally across the street...Walking to park the car isn't exactly an inconvenience.“
