“Bogarts is a great neighbourhood bar with a nice casual ambiance, highly dedicated and friendly staff, and very reasonably priced cocktails and beer. “Fun spot. Late night entertainment. Support local comedy. I come here on Wednesdays for their comedy open mic. Rachel is super kind and humble and it's very cool to be around a fun different atmosphere in San Jose. I always order a Coke with lemon. Lots of seating. Open mic gets packed. Yet somehow everyone behind the bar seems to be able to provide service with a smile. Don't forget to tip your bartender.“

Woodhams Sports Lounge Lounges • $$
4475 Stevens Creek Blvd, Santa Clara - 4.37 miles

“I started coming to Woodhams about a year ago in hopes of finding a community bar. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted by the lovely bartender who also happened to be the owner, Amanda. Her friendly and inclusive energy creates a sense of belonging in this humble and homey bar. One of the biggest appeals is the wide range of folks who come to this bar. Woodhams is for everyone who values community, friendship, good vibes, a sense of humor, and authenticity. It is not an establishment that condones recreational hate speech, so if you're looking for that, keep looking! I cannot recommend this bar enough and I have so much respect for the community that Amanda and all the other staff at Woodhams have built and continue to foster. I am now a committed regular and make a point to tell friends and coworkers about this fantastic establishment. I've made so many friends here, and you will too!“

The G.

The G. Cocktail Bar • $
134 S Main St, Milpitas - 8.28 miles

“Carlos is an amazing guy. They have 10 beers on taps: with favorites like 805, Sierra Nevada, and even Guinness. And many more in bottles. If you like it they also have Fernet! The back yard is open, mostly covered, and great. It's also close to the hotels for those who are traveling and want a great dive bar to visit after work or fun. TouchTunes, darts, and a pool table. For what seems to be a hole in the wall, there is a great amount of space inside and outside. Go, have a fun night, and tip your bar tender!“

“I once knew a girl, we worked at South West YMCA camp, jeepers was it 1984? Fast forward to 2002 I randomly saw her in this bar and time hasn’t passed. We said our goodnight, but this a meet zone that has legs…it’s an older established neighborhood bar, a meeting zone. You should check it out. From my experience, there are a few ground rules, ready?Be good or be gone…No matter the size of your entourage, you don’t own this place, we are all transitioning throughout, so calm down. The deputy mayor of the town is at the end of the bar. The local doctor is at the bar, the local plumber that will fix all of your issues is at the bar, so tread lightly before you blow this place up with your outside view.Back to my original point of view, you don’t own this place with your ca$h, they own the history and you borrow it for a few hours. Be good or be gone.“

Cranberry Kamakazie

“The detailed description calls this a “bare bones bar”. I guess that’s sort of accurate. It seems that if one doesn’t have a modern gimmick then it’s “bare bones”. This is a bar. It seems to have everything going for it in that way. Every bar tender I’ve ordered from here has brought me a drink in a professional way. The locals are friendly enough. Not sure that I will ever find my new best friend here or fall in love with a stranger but they’ve always been a cordial bunch. If what you want is a non-pretentious bar in a town that prides itself on snooty bullshizen and an overflow of new tech money and attitude, then check this spot out. You might meet the inventor of online credit card software or you might meet a roofer after a hard days work. You might meet some twenty-something girls who think that they are out slumming it. But this is no slum. This is a clean bar that is well kept. When the lights are low it seems to have a bit of a dark and a faintly seedy feel. Like a memory of my favorite places in the 1970s, but when the lights are up you can see the pride of ownership as everything is in its place. The glasses are clean, the floors are clean too. I’d bring my mother here or my mother in law. Or my wife. 3 totally different people. Why would you even read this review? Just pop in for a drink. And, please take my advise, or don’t. However, avoid fancy drinks. Stay classy. If you require both a sprig of fresh sage as well as thyme in your signature gin and tonic that tastes nothing like gin or tonic then perhaps try another place. I’m sure you can get a 25$ G and T somewhere in this town.“

Fred's Place Bar • $
2534 Old Middlefield Way, Mountain View - 4.81 miles

“This bar has turned from more of just to hang out to. It's my family. These people are so kind and nice and I love everyone except for Chang. Pauli read Sarah Amber all of them are awesome all the regulars I know they give you the shirt off their back no questions asked. So it is more than just a bar. It is the place that is just a complete hidden gem and I worked down the street for years and I was always scared of the place because I thought what kind of Degens go here and then I start going there and I found kind of a second family if you will. Everyone is so kind everyone will do what ever you need your own short on money during short on money everyone buys each other drinks. There's always hugs and yell, cheap kisses and everything else I mean it it is a legit family, so I can't say enough good things about this place people that bow shit are idiots or just don't get the way a dive bar as sidebar for god sake's. But it is one of the best ones I have ever experienced in my life and I have shunned off every single other one because this is where I belong, these are people I need to be around. so come join it come support the business because if people don't support the business, it's gonna go away before we know it and there's certain people that work there that are not the best humans and are going to cost the business to Freemans go out of business I mean that's all there is to it so just come out. Enjoy it hang out the back patio. They just replace the whole awning out there today. Just a great group of people I I mean I cannot say enough good things about it between the owner and the employees and everything else you know, there are all kinds of hugs given out constantly“

Alex's 49er Inn Bar • $
2214 Business Cir, San Jose - 6.53 miles

“The "Ambiance" ? Dive Bar 100% Like that's kinda all there is to say ? But I will say more . They have a heavy Bouncer at the entry Door at all times of day or night .... There's your set up ... that and the fact that this venue is sandwiched between an Adult Novelty Store & a 99cents Store ...Meaning you are also 100% likely to meet an interesting character, how "interesting" is determined by lottery ...& the stern doorman obviously. However, They have multiple pool tables , a classic Zoltar mis-Fortune Telling Machine , Potato Chips in packages for sale from the wall& Staring Role --strong cheap Drinks . A veritable amusement park for certain individuals in a certain mood. That's about all I have to say about that .“

Normandy House Cocktail Bar • $
30 Washington St, Santa Clara - 5.77 miles

“This is a lovely dive bar with a ton of seating and plenty of games for visitors to enjoy, including a wall full of dartboards, air hockey, two pool tables, and a few arcade games (though these were dark/unplugged on a Sunday afternoon)... no shuffleboard on site as of Jan 2024. We played some darts and billiards during our time at Normandy, and had a boatload of fun while getting tipsy off some standard cocktails (slow but friendly service). You can ask for darts at the bar and can play for free if you don't wanna keep score, but to actually play the different dart games (ie. cricket) and keep score, you'll need to pay cash. It's cheap though, and so are the pool tables. The place doesn't look like much from the outside, but it's clean, modern, and spacious inside, with the games and machines in working order and in very good condition, except for a couple of the dart boards super sensitive to touch, so if pulling off darts, it would count as a miss on the next player's turn (we didn't have this problem with the red machines though). No crowds, no waits to play games, just good times!“
