I'm not one for harsh ratings, but this was the worst ice cream I can remember getting at a shop. All the ice cream was soupy and icy. Truly terrible texture. I saw another recent review of this same issue from more than a week before our visit, so I can't blame it on something temporary. To the management, you have to keep ice cream at the right temperature. Full stop. Soupy ice cream is unacceptable. The cone was filled flat because it was so liquidy, but it managed to have a few chunks of flavorless ice in it that I couldn't even spit out because I tried to drive with the cone and it kept almost sloshing out. I should have walked when we were handed the first one.
All the ice cream was melted and kinda refrozen with freezer burn all over it. The froyo came out of the dispenser like a runny liquid and was room temperature. Health department needs to swing by this place and inspect their refrigerators and temperatures of stored products. Absolutely disgusting, dnt go here.
Flavor's good. Smoothie in a cone. Their freezer can't keep up with the heat.
Their freezers weren't working quite right, so the ice cream was a little runny.
This place is always out of ingredients to make smoothies and their blender supposedly is broken as well.
Ice cream is all melted. No almonds no whipped creme no cherry on my sundae .
Will not go back. Out of so many flavors. They said that they could not do a sundae and didn't allow tasting. Apparently out of tasting spoons.
Butter pecan and cotton candy ice cream were pretty good. Chocolate shake was just okay and cost 9.95 for a small. Overpriced for sure.
Wide selection of flavors worth trying This Ice Cream Shop

5-Star Review for Mary at Cruz Creamery, Santa Cruz, CA
I had the absolute pleasure of visiting Cruz Creamery in Santa Cruz, and I must say, the experience was elevated to an entirely new level thanks to Mary. From the moment I walked in, Mary greeted me with a warm, genuine smile that instantly made me feel welcome. Her positive energy was infectious, and it was clear that she takes immense pride in providing top-tier customer service.
What stood out most was her attention to detail and willingness to go above and beyond to ensure I had the best experience possible. She took the time to patiently explain the different flavors, offered thoughtful recommendations based on my preferences, and even let me sample a few options before I made my final decision. I truly appreciated how she made me feel like a valued customer rather than just another order in line.
Mary’s knowledge of the menu and her passion for her job were evident in every interaction. She was attentive, efficient, and incredibly friendly throughout my visit, making sure that I had a great experience. In a world where good customer service can sometimes feel rare, Mary truly stands out as a shining example of what exceptional service looks like.
Thanks to Mary’s outstanding hospitality, Cruz Creamery has earned a loyal customer. I’ll definitely be coming back and recommending this place to friends and family — not just for the delicious ice cream, but for the incredible service from Mary. She’s a gem, and Cruz Creamery is lucky to have her!

The first red flag was that the ice cream shop across the street had a really long line.
And this one was completely empty on a Saturday.
There was only one employee who seemed really checked out. Probably underpaid. Kind of felt bad for the guy. The toppings at the self-serve bar were all stale. Pretty sure this is the first time I've gotten self-serve tasted the toppings and then thrown on the ice cream away.
I talked directly to the worker and ask if the toppings were old and if there was a way I could just get a replacement item and he just kept repeating the word no over and over again.
The communication skill set was pretty poor. And not worth fighting over a $10 ice cream. So I just threw it away and quietly left.

They have 4 rotating VEGAN ice cream options! Today I tried the Thai tea vegan ice cream and it was soooooo good! I forgot to take a picture but knew immediately I had to leave a review. Bonus they have comfy couches for seating.

They had tons of different flavors of ice cream as well as froyo. There were a lot of toppings for the froyo. It was a very cute place inside. They kept it very clean.
The prices were a little high but average for what today's prices are. Everybody enjoyed what they got. There were homeless around the building, which made it kind of sketchy, and the parking was very difficult, but it was definitely a great ice cream shop.
Parking: There were only approximately 4 parking spots. One had a really sketchy homeless Van in it. It is next to a gas station.
