I've been coming here for over 25 years. I have worked an lived in the neighborhood for most of that time. Since the current owner took over for Day, the property has improved and so has the food. However, the prices have continued to go up, gouging on items they know tourists will buy out of necessity. No love for the locals. Recently their charge for credit cards increased to $.69. Ridiculous. I can't say much that is positive about the staff either. Short, rude, treat me like I don't matter. I'd rather support someone else's business.

They have fresh tamales here after 8am. I love the chicken tamales and the cheese/jalapeños tamales.
Also, the masa (corn flour) used to make them is gluten-free. They make sandwiches too. This corner store has everything.
Vegetarian options: Cheese and Jalapen̈os tamales. Chips, dip et cetera.
Dietary restrictions: Gluten- Free and Vegetarian options. I don't know if they have vegan options.
Parking: 8 or more spots.
Wheelchair accessibility: Not very easy to access.

Dingy, grimy, overpriced, and some of the worst customer service around. But hey, it's par for the course in Santa Cruz. Walk in to a business to spend money only to get mean mugged by an employee who looks like he hates that you're there. Once again, typical Santa Cruz...

I was visiting litterly down the street from this market , about 9:30ish I sent my son to buy me some juice . He came back the juice was $9 it was orange juice. I opened it poured a small glass took a drink and spit it Rigby out ! It went bad . However the expiration date said 4/08/24 and today is the 2nd. Anyway I sent my son to take it back let them know it was bad and if we can switch it out for another juice. My son came back empty handed and said the guy said no cuz it's not expired but kept the juice. So I with my son went back and explained to the man that's it bad and he should taste it. He refused to taste it. And kept saying it's not expired I told him it don't matter the expiration date there are many way that a juice could go bad . And he should do the right thing by either giving me my $9 back or let us get another juice. So he finally allowed us to get another juice . FYI the other orange juices were all expired all dated in March . So we got a apple juice. ? I told the guy that there are alot of juices that are expired and he laughed. Don't get your juice there. BTW the apple juice was fine. Please check the expiration dates on everything there.

Friendly service and the BEST TAMALES IN TOWN!!!!!!
This place has been there forever. Really unique old school store , has everything for tourists and locals as well. Must try a WowWow tuna sandwich, they have been making it for a long time and still is really good.
Everything you need from a local, corner market...

Great little corner store right by the beach. Load up your coolers for a day in the sun. Gotta try the Wow Wow Tuna. A local favorite for many years.
Awesome service and totally awesome tamales.
Great market with an excellent wine selection and plenty of other Bevies. Snacks for the Beach! Must try the 1/2 fruit pies from Beckman’s Bakery (local) and In the freezer Mission Hill Creamery’s(local) Banana ice cream! Amazing! They ALSO sell tamales from the Counter!
Very friendly
Great selection of food and drink, close to the boardwalk and the harbor.
