To gain my respect so fast is a feat in itself. A TeaHouse straight out of dreamland. 5 stars and impressed forsure. I'll add pictures of the location soon enough to make it easy for anybody traveling through here to find the spot.

One of the many Santa Cruz Staples

This tea house is a nice oasis of calm. They don’t allow phones to be on inside, but they have lots of games and books to stay busy with. The owner is also extremely knowledgable on tea and able to recommend some delicious puer teas

Horrible manners and bad attitude from hostess. Treat your customers with respect and make their visit a pleasant one

very pleasant place to hang out for a couple hours. would come back if I were in the area.
beautifully decorated space and interesting options on the bookshelf, both curated in the standard eclectic pan-Asian hippie spirituality style you'd expect. gongfu service was on a nice wooden tea tray with a fun fish monster (?) tea pet. I know they're traditional but I think the ~20mL gongfu teacups are not ideal for an American clientele (imo 50-100mL range is more comfortable for ppl).
the pu'er our server recommended was pretty solid. pricing is on the higher side, but also kind of unnecessarily complicated in a way that feels slightly underhanded. tea menu options were somewhat limited, and could have benefitted from some description/tasting notes.
they really enforce the no electronics thing also, but tbh planning to not look at your phone for a few hours and having someone keep you accountable to it is itself maybe worth the upcharge on the leaf and water.

Great tea and even better service. I accidentally left some books behind and they were able to send them back to me. They really go above and beyond for their customers. I will be back here on my next trip to Santa Cruz. I highly recommend the rose tea it’s delicious.

A lovely experience. We had the rose tea, black pepper cashews, and plantain chips. It was also fun to play a board game while we enjoyed our tech free outing (minus using my phone to grab a quick picture for memories sake).
Thank you to all the great staff who work here. My friend also bought a fun tea set for their house.

It is a beautiful tea place where you can disconnect from electronic devices and connect with yourself and people. I highly recommend it for solo and groups of friends. Enjoy and take care !!!

Enjoy this gem because once you leave town, you’ll miss it forever. My favorite thing was to sit out on the patio with a bowl of puerh and draw all afternoon/evening. Phones off. Actual attention spans and prolonged in-person human interactions. Whoa buddy- unheard of these days!

I love this place. Every time I come to Santa Cruz I take my family and friends here. The space is very intimate and quiet. No phones. Books and games to read inside and beautiful tea options to share. Everything is beautiful and you can tell the space is very intentional. Would be a great spot to take someone and chat for hours. For 2 people we ordered a tea pot to share and spent $28

Enchanting, inspiring, and soulful — in addition to a thoughtful selection of delicious Chinese teas, this digital-free tea shop is a beautiful, welcoming, and important community hub. With the lovely and knowledgeable staff, delectable teas, and a hundred vintage tea sets to peruse, you’ll never want to leave!

This place is a cult.
1. They dress in robes.
2. Incense and gong music.
3. No technology to ‘focus on yourselves and others’ but ample board games, magazines, books - nah, you gotta double down, get rid of all that noise if you want ppl to ‘focus’ on themselves or others.
4. Staff so focused on trying to look calm and maintain this sorta sus vibe that they end up looking high strung. I imagine the employee (cult) handbook is bursting with rules that they have to keep track of.

3 stars cuz their puerh is good. Puerh is a hard tea for beginners to make (sourcing, prep, and brewing put other loose leaf tea to shame) so I think this does fill an interesting niche, it just doesn’t need all the cultish pretense!

I’m only going out of way to leave a review to give people this knowledge before they unknowingly step into a cult HQ. Hope this helps.
