High Tide is a seasonal operation that is located inside the same shop as Hom. Both have similar concepts where you build your own bowl and add toppings/sauces with certain restrictions. The night my friend and I visited ended up being their reopening after sheltering began so that was a pretty neat treat. For $12, you get three proteins (salmon, tuna, spicy tuna, and yellowtail were available on our night) and your choices of toppings. Base consists of starch noodles, salad, and white or brown rice. They don't place any limits on toppings aside from avocado/seaweed salad being an additional $1. The fact that we could customize our bowls to our likings was a big plus in my books. It wasn't the best poke bowl I've ever had but it was nice to have the option to include mango/pineapple on top for sweetness. The fishes were all pretty bland in flavor and didn't seem fresh, but still edible. I went for the starch noodles and felt they were a tad underdone. I will stick with my usual rice for my next bowl. Side note - The jar of fried onions was old as bits of it were really hard to chew and I ended up spitting it out. I'd probably avoid this topping and stick with good ol' sesame seeds which I love. I will add that I appreciate the worker for taking the time to really craft our bowls to make them bomb and beautiful.

3 proteins for $12 Seaweed salad / crab salad are extra They don't offer "sushi" rice, just plain ol' white rice, but they do offer sweet potato noodles (which I have never seen before, so that makes up for it). Their seaweed salad is brown - but don't let that fool you - this tastes just as great as the artificially bright neon green stuff at other places. The line up doesn't look as neat or clean as Poke House down the street, but the fish seems fresh. The flavors are on point.

Really good quality fish and ingredients. It’s hard to order as a first timer, but the employees will help you/explain their like 8 sauce options. Overall pretty good bang for your buck at $12 for a big bowl of poke.

I was shocked at how my dinner came. It looked as though someone dropped my food on the floor and scraped the leftovers back on the plate. Everything was just off!

The fish is old. The crab is just nasty. The ponzu doesn't taste like ponzu. The portions are small. The price is high. Don't come here.

First, no one was at the poke bar to assist me. Secondly when the girl got there she was visibly annoyed that there was even a customer In line. Lastly the Poke here was inedible and I had to spit it out after the second bite. Never going here again and wouldn’t recommend to my ex girlfriend who cheated on me. Absolutely terrible and I really hope I don’t get food poisoning.

**sigh**........... I'm writing this review with the taste of disappointment still lingering on my tongue. I just ate from the most underwhelming Poki Bowl I've ever had. It was bland from start to finish. I wish there was table salt or something to liven it up but the flavor was as dead as the fish. I don't understand: I mixed spicy tuna, spicy mayo, spicy Hom sauce and kimchi into it. There should have been some flavor somewhere! Maybe it was "American albino preschooler spicy". Maybe that's the tastebuds they cater to‍ Maybe they should add a pinch of salt to their recipes. Some poor Asian grandmother is in the back kitchen crying into every pot. I think that's the secret ingredient...... sadness. I really don't like writing bad reviews but I had to here. Sometimes the truth is hard to swallow.

Great poke. You can choose 3 proteins and they are fresh.

I think that overall, high tide is a decent experience. The workers for high tide are shared with hom, which is in the same room. It also seems like they share a signature hom sauce, which is a slightly spicy sauce. As for their poke bowls, you choose a base (rice or noodles) and then you choose a protein. They have a few different types of fish, I went with ahi and salmon. The portions of protein that they give are pretty small compared to something like poke bowl. They have a plethora of sauces to put the fish in, I went with a mix of ponzu and hom (slightly sweet, salty, and spicy). From there you get to choose from a variety of toppings. I recommend the edamame, roe, fried onion, and furikake. Overall I think this place is decent for Santa Cruz, but if you want good poke, you might as well go over the hill.

Love what Jonah did with this place. Service sucks when he's not there but still it is worth the wait. I've tried everything on the menu and I as well as my Daughter love it all!!!

I really wanted to love this place...truly. But first off the portion sizes are exceptionally small. The majority of the bowl consists of white rice that was cold and a little crunchy. The fish was not fresh and tasted like it had been sitting there for quite some time. I asked where they got the fish from and they had no idea. The toppings were ok but again definitely not fresh. I ended up paying $13 and some change and left a pretty decent tip. Sadly I will not be returning again :(

In the beginning the bowl servings were generous. But the last 2 times i came the bowls are more like snacks. I won't be returning here. Too bad because it was good..seems like owner decided to become cheap. Just when I was enjoying the food, the bowl portions become so scaled back I was left hungry. $12 for a bowl that was half of what they used to put into it? In the beginning it was worth it but it's more like $4 or $6 value while paying more than twice the price. I do not recommend this place that has become ingenious in it's business. What a shame

Korean food and service at this location is super good. I often meet people here to talk. The staff was very kind and attentive.
