Loved the Food! Struggled with the wine list...would love to have some local wines to enjoy, as Italian wines are harder to get to know, so it's a crapshoot. Great service. It is a little drafty inside, and the benches are very hard. Some cushions would go a long way towards softening the seat and warming things up a bit. Overall, the food was so good I will return!
Still Santa Cruz' best overall restaurant if want creative cuisine using high quality local products, knowledgeable and efficient service and a well chosen wine list.
We had an excellent meal and a great time. Our table was ready, the service was excellent, probably the best salads I've ever I've ever had. The sausage pizza was so good- the sausage flavorful and tender, kale (surprised us was perfect on top), with a slightly spicy sauce and melty cheese. We couldn't wait to finish it for lunch the next day. Our red wine by the glass paired with our dinner was delicious! For desert we had gelato and cookies. This restaurant is set up very smartly- you can easily visit at your table because the noise level is low, tables are nicely separated and you get a bit of a visual of kitchen business which is entertaining. We can't wait to go back and recommend La Posta to friends.
Delicious food, great service. Ear splitting noise. Could barely hear the people at my own table.
Had a lovely dinner with our friends. Tried a good variety of the menu. Gnocco fritto, farm salad, black cod, salsiccia pizza, duck confit, Chanterelle bread pudding (my favorite dish of the night ), a lemon tart, and a delicious ricciarelli cookie to go with my dessert wine. Excellent service from Gavin, who seemed very knowledgeable about wine. Definitely an asset to the restaurant.
We had requested a window seat. We arrived and the restaurant was virtually empty. The host told us we couldn't have a seat by the window because it was a rainy day and they have moved tables in from the outside. That made no sense there were two tables for four available Either next to the window or near the window and instead he put us in the back of the restaurant near the service station. We were very unsatisfied. We assume an unconscious bias of seating women anywhere other than near the service station. Also, And, trying to decide which wine we wanted to order we asked our waiter to give us a taste of two that we were trying to decide between. The taste was a drop. The waiter also acted as if it was a problem for us to ask for a taste. The restaurant week price fix was way too expensive. The scallop shrimp dish was excellent, the soup was good, the lasagna was fair. Prices were very high and menu was limited so made choices difficult
Think twice before going to La Posta during Restaurant Week. It's very busy and this slows everything down significantly. We love La Posta, but the time it took for dishes to come to the table was much longer than usual. We arrived at 6:00 p.m., ordered relatively soon after that, and we received our appetizers by 6:35 and our entrees at 7:15! (1 hour and 15 minutes after ordering). Two out of three courses were excellent.
We had an exceptional experience at La Posta for our local restaurant week. Great food and service. The options for the prix fixe menu were tantalizing and made for difficult choice. My partner and I had different selections from the menu and each was delicious, highlighting fall flavors. A memorable meal.
This is our second time going to La Posta for restaurant week and again they did not disappoint. Our server Gavin was incredibly knowledgeable about wine and recommended an outstanding bottle. The three courses that were offered were al AMAZING and perfectly cooked. Outstanding service and food, well worth the money.
Hadn't been in awhile & so glad to return. Great specials for the night: Homemade sausage with polenta & greens plus a fabulous Barbaresco. I bought a bottle to take home!

Such incredible pastas! So fresh and inventive. We go often and love La Posta! Great service, too!
Squash pasta was excellent. Fish / spinach dish light and tasty. Excellent cauliflower dish.
The service at La Posta is outstanding. Everyone, from the person who greets you to the servers, is friendly and very charming. The food is good, but a few touches could make it better. The romaine lettuce salad could use some color and variety, for example, a few carrot shavings, a few thin slices of beets, or perhaps a touch of anchovies As it is, just romaine and cheese tends to get a little monotonous. The pizza with chanterelles was ok, but the dough was not your tasty Italian dough, it was a bit bland and hard; the mushrooms were badly spread, with some slices having many and others too few. The fig, prosciutto salad was the best. The seasoning was a light yogurt-based sauce that did not overpower the flavor of the figs, the amount of prosciutto was just right and rendered the perfect balance between its saltiness and the sweetness of the figs. It was a solid 10.
La Posta always delivers with a varied seasonal menu and Italian wine list. Server helped us choose a rose with minerality. Loved the appetizer special with heirloom tomatoes, aioli, and pork belly. Enjoyed the bolognese and a mushroom pizza (with leftovers). Seasonal dessert was a perfect plate of three “apple fritter” donut holes with vanilla gelato. Great value with high end local ingredients and service!
We loved the seasonal food choices. The two specials, a pork belly and tomato crostini and a lentil and sausage dish were outstanding; we wish they would be made part of the fall/winter menu! The recommended wine hit our price point, was a good accompaniment to the food, and was described exactly so we knew what we were getting. All in all another wonderful evening at La Posta!
