Got the general Tso's lunch special, the chicken was nice and crispy, and the sauce was delicious too. I got it without the soup of the day, wish they would have substituted it somehow (I just don't like soups).

The food here is delicious and flavorful. We ordered Kung pow prawns and tofu eggplant. Service was great, very attentive and friendly. Ambience is calm for a nice meal, would definitely recommend!

It's been a little while since I dined here so I decided to give it a go today for lunch. I ordered the sweet and sour pork lunch which came with soup, fried rice, pork, and fried wontons. I actually loved the wontons, they were light and crispy and I could have eaten double the amount. I usually don't even bother when those come to the table but these were yummy! I enjoyed everything I ate and the service was speedy and very friendly. Food was reasonably priced as well. I will say the interior is a bit rough around the edges but it didn't bother me much. The bowl that the pork was served on was pretty beat up, lots of chips around the rim, so that's something I think they could benefit from is new dish-ware. Overall, I enjoyed my meal and would dine again.

I'm in town visiting and was eyeing another place nearby, only to find out it's like $30 a plate. Trying to get in out of the rain, I spotted Mandarin Gourmet and ran in. I looked a bit of a mess, but the man behind the counter welcomed me in warmly. He was sweet and friendly and the food was cooked very well. I had issues getting into the outdoor bathroom and he walked me all the way out to help get the door open. I spent less than half of what I would at the other place and I'm willing to bet the food was just as delicious. Definitely try them out.

Waiter is kind of serious, but once he gets to know you he is very nice. But the food is awesome. Our favorite is the walnut shrimp. But everything is well done.
Got the broccoli beef. Came really quick but that probably explains why the beef was rubbery and broccoli undercooked. It was also way too wet from the sauce and didn't come with rice. Service was short and not very helpful. Definitely not worth the $15. Do not recommend.

However the man does not follow the DoorDash policy! He will ask you to confirm the order without the order being ready. And if you refuse he will gladly kick you out of his restaurant and ask you to leave. It has to be his way or the highway, if you have a bad experience at this restaurant please avoid it or don't be afraid to call DoorDash support to report him for misconduct of DoorDash policy and or harassment and abuse.

Ordered about 10 large trays here for my daughter's first birthday. PAUL & his wife (the cook) were wonderful! Couldn't have been more happier with the service & TASTE in dishes! My family kept asking me where did I order the food from because everything was so good!!! I am not from the Santa Cruz area but if you are or you're visiting & want yummy Chinese food, GO HERE!!!!

Santa Cruz is lacking in good Chinese food but we have found Mandarin Gourmet’s food to be the best by far. Portions are good, taste is good and the owners are very nice people. It’s a regular for us.
