We went here on date night from a recommendation for the burger. We were told it's the best in town, so I had to try. Firstly, the good, the ambiance and the staff are 100%, really nice. Second the food was good, but not excellent like the prices would suggest. $35 for a burger! It was nice but not $35 nice. It was a bun, a nice ball of meat cooked perfect and melted blue cheese. We also had the steak strip price fix meal. Very tasty but a little chewy. The desert, apple crisp was excellent though. Weirdly in the middle of the meal the fire alarm went off. It was deafening and clearly happens a lot as the staff brought out a big bag of ear plugs! This isn't the restaurant's fault that the car park next door has public facing alarm pulls that anyone off the street can activate. but if was the owner I would be not paying rent. As this was date night it did upset me a little, but without asked the server credited us our drinks. Hopefully they can get that sorted! Would I go again...maybe but I think I'll give it a few months.
The food was overpriced and very blend. Presentation was also bad. My Caesar salad was drenched in dressing and they charged $17 extra for a piece of fish. The taste of the salad was similar to the packaged Caesar salad you get at Safeway. In some ways, those are even better because you can limit the amount of dressing. My husband had a $34 hamburger expecting something special, but it wasn't. The only good things were the wine, chocolate soufflé and service.
There were 5 of us and we all had a lovely time. It was perfect really; the food, the service, the drinks. Our server was very attentive and accommodating and we had great mocktails. We all had different entrees as to admire the beautiful presentation of the cuisine, which we all thought was fantastic.
Overly priced and not very good. The ambience was fine and staff was nice. I ordered the lamb and it was bland and under seasoned. I never received a knife and had to use a butter knife. The hand full of fries for $13 was less enjoyable than McDonald fries. My wife's fish was like a Kitchen Nightmare, smells of fish, and tasted more like a container than anything worth buying from an expensive restaurant. Didn't receive the focaccia bread until desert time and it tasted sour and terrible. Worst $152 dinner I've ever had. Cocktail and bottled water was the best part. I do not recommend eating at Oswald. Will never eat there again.
For 60 bucks you can try their previously frozen flank steak with some nasty aftertaste. In addition when asked to make it medium they will make sure it's well done.
Overall unimpressed. Bartended was super busy and not welcoming. Food was over salted and lacked anything special.
This is a wonderful restaurant with fantastic staff. The food is excellent and the drinks are even better. You've got to try the focaccia bread with citrus butter. It's amazing!
Once a month we take Friday afternoon off to drive over the hill for a late lunch at Oswald. The cocktails are delicious, as are the entrees and desserts. We always get the spaghetti carbonara, which is our pasta indulgence for the month. The chocolate soufflé & cream are wonderful and the persimmon dessert cake is outstanding. The server has a great attitude and doesn't hover, and the music choices are perfect. Highly recommend.
Oswald never disappoints! From the great service with a smile, to the engaging bartenders, to the excellent food - Oswald is a great experience and a definite recommendation for anyone looking for a solid date night or dinner with friends.
Appetizers and salads were very good. Aprils black cod entree was excellent. My skirt steak was cooked perfectly but was a bit tough. Service was very informal but attentive.

Delicious food in a quiet but lively atmosphere. The bread and compound butter was a big hit. Loved my salad. Desserts were off-the-char delicious. Not too sweet!
Kind, attentive service. Good drinks, great seafood. Good chickory salad and chocalate souffle
The black cod and seared ahi cornbread crostini were most excellent. The Oswald Negroni - bet you can't order just one. Looking forward to our next visit.
We came all the way from San Jose to try Oswald's, but unfortunately, our experience was disappointing. The service was poor — our waitress only checked on us once, never offered drink refills, and forgot the one refill we requested. We eventually had to ask another staff member for help, and our drinks arrived just as we were paying the bill, too late to enjoy them. It wasn't busy, yet our server seemed much more attentive to her other two tables. We usually tip 18–25%, but in this case, we left 10% because the service simply didn't meet expectations. The food was also underwhelming and took nearly 30 minutes to arrive after our appetizers, which was surprising given the light crowd. We truly wish our experience at Oswald's had been different, as we were looking forward to trying it.
I am delighted that Oswald is now open on Tuesday evenings. The prix fixe meal was excellent, reasonable, and the cocktails were perfect. Oswald is very reliable for quality dining.
