The food was not good. The restaurant is dirty and smokey. The guy working there is rude. I think this was a nice local place previously, but it sucks. Go literally anywhere else.

The man taking our order was rude. I asked if the potatoes could be well, he said no sharply instead sorry no. He reiterated it four times. Then I handed him my debt card and he goes I will never take card. Just the customer service skills were that of someone who hates to work at a Santa Cruz staple. Maybe Staples is more his speed.

This is a Santa Cruz original restaurant! My favorite place cheapest best breakfast in town! I’ve noticed not a lot of business lately more people need to know about this place and not let it die!!! Please try it out if you haven’t already! Eggs and toast and potatoes only 6$ cash only doesn’t get better than that!

Used to be our favorite place 15 years ago, so we were excited to try it when visiting Capitola. The worst experience ever!! It was so dirty that we are still grossed out! It is filthy!!!! I am shocked they’re still open, what happened to this place?? What a disappointment!

We wonder if it’s the same owner from 15 years ago, there was always a line out the door!!!!

3 stars for atmosphere because, if you can get past the disgustingness, it has incredible decor!

do not go here. horrible food. horrible sanitation practices. tables were dirty place smells horrible like old grease. sausage came burnt to a crisp, quite literally inedible. owner is the one cooking so no hope for this place if he is going to serve something like that and feel ok about it / not wash his hands.

A friend of mine introduced me to this place years ago, and I instantly fell in love! The fresh squeezed oj, the cool table inside the van, the relaxing laid back atmosphere. This place is

I think because of COVID, diners should look at Paula's again. Granted, their Basic Breakfast has gone up a bit, but what restaurant hasn't raised their prices these days (I cant believe I am paying $20 a dish for Chinese food!)? I have been walking to here for 25 years. As a neighbor, I have always appreciated this little slice of surfer solitude. Decorated with surfboards, photos of old time surfers, old surfer posters, playing Beach Boys music, it has always been so cute! THE FOOD TASTES GREAT! The pancakes are the best I have had in SCZ. With a generous slab of butter. Eggs & bacon are cooked just right. Everyone is very respectful of others. After you dine, push your chair back in, and bus your dirty dishes and silverware to the area next to the refrigerator. There is a very nice patio dining area, or the kids love to dine in the VW Bus opposite the front door. Prices are fabulously cheap - you pay more for a McDonald's burger at some of the Paula's prices! Come early - weekends, the line is always out the door.

The syrup was in a puddle of water that dripped all over my rubbery waffles. My eggs were in a puddle. My girl friends bacon was charcoal, and thr owner yelled at us to bus our dishes when we got up and made my girlfriend bring them behind the counter into the kitchen. He was also rude to every One that walked up to the counter. TERRIBLE FOOD. so bland. Also 3.50 to add a slice of cheese to a 10 dollar plate?
