It's tradition in my family that we order our cakes at Safeway on Mission St. The bakers outdo themselves every time, the customer service is 10/10 (Especially if Bernice is helping you, she is kind, patient and attentive to detail) plus the price can't be beat! I wish I had more photos of the cakes we've ordered over the years but this one is our most recent and one of my favorites.

I wanted to buy two corndogs from the fried food counter. I waited and waited and waited. I left when the wait became ridiculous. This is one reason why I prefer shopping at the Safeway on 41st. I'm not left waiting for long periods of time. Hire more people or something. Figure it out. This all happened on 12/30 at around 1:40 pm.

Today's cashier Daniel was rude, obnoxious, and I saw him throwing items at an elderly lady in the checkout line. One other gentleman left the checkout line after seeing what went on. This has not been the first time for Daniel's behavior. The sooner he is terminated or transfered to another store, the better!

The service is very good at Mission St branch. i have Fresh Pass for delivery of online purchases and the folks who drive the trucks are helpful . The manager and customer service solve any issues that arrive. i recommend for prices and service.

There is almost always ridiculous slow moving lines at this Safeway. They rarely have more than 2 registers open, even when the store is full of angry people clogging up aisles while waiting in huge lines. It's a modern well stocked Safeway, they just have had some strange problem for over a decade dealing with lines. Last few times I tried to shop there, I just put my items back and left. Glad a new grocery store opened close by, so I don't have to drive across town to do all my shopping.

This is a review of their delivery service originating from this store.I ordered delivery online for a friend who had her mom pass away, who couldn't get to the store. She was down to literally no food. I placed a large order and the driver showed up when they should have but only with the non-refrigerated/non-freezer items. Something is better than nothing and it's almost an understandable mistake. So I called customer service and had them look for the rest of the order. They confirmed they found it and would send it back out. And they did the next day. But...Only 4 of the 23 missing items were delivered. I got back on the phone with customer service to understand what was going on but ended up just giving up and asking for a refund for the rest. It was over $100 of merchandise left undelivered. At this point, I don't understand how this is happening but I was tired of playing this game and asked for a refund of the outstanding items. I'm going to place an order from another source and I'm never ordering from safeway.com ever again. Not everyone who orders delivery is being lazy. Some members of the community really can't get out of the house to go to the store for various reasons (health, grief, etc.) and/or doesn't live near a bus stop if they can't drive. I hope that management reads this and gets it together so this never happens to anyone else.I was sent a checklist when I placed my order. Aren't the drivers issued the same checklists to make sure that they have complete orders before heading out? If not, that would be an easy fix.

Had a great experience at this store. Ended up rushing through the self checkout while I was on the phone and walked away leaving $40 in the change tray. It took me a good 10 minutes before I figured it out. Ran back and was stunned when I asked the clerk if anyone may have found the $40 I left behind and he said yes and handed it to me. A special thank you to Nolan!

It's a Safeway. It's pretty much the same as any other Safeway I've been in. They usually have most things in stock and the prices and quality of items don't change all that much. The self chekout is buggy and often not taking cash or not taking credit card or both. Sometimes it overcharges you or accuses you of stealing, or something won't ring up, or you rang something up that needs to be counted, so you have to wait until you can get the one employee to come over and fix it. I'd rather just wait in line than skip that hassle but the checkout aisle lines can get super long, especially when the self checkout is down (see picture)The reason this gets 3 stars instead of 2 is because it's the ONLY place you can get food in the ENTIRE westside after 11pm. (There's also the taqueria, but I tend to think of it as part of Safeway because it's next door. Also that's only open til 11:45. Same with the wing stop) I wish more places were open late like this...

I live on the Westside of Santa Cruz and been going to this Safeway regularly for 17 years. I needed to use western Union (first time ever) yesterday for my son who just moved out of the nest last year out of the area, far away. He is responsible, never gets in trouble, a good kid. My bank had to be shut down for all online access for 4 days, this weekend, including the holiday to transition to the new _______ banking. I usually use online apps to send money and the receiver would get it instantly. One of his roommates moved out and new renter last minute flaked. They were all stuck with an extra pmt due by 9/1. 2 days notice on a holiday weekend! I went to Safeway on mission and had to bring cash (other WU's let you use debit or credit, another inconvenience) and Teresa helped me at customer service. She was very efficient and nice. She said my son could get the money from minutes to an hour in his bank. I said ok. Went home called my son. We waited and waited. Nothing for two hours. Now it was 7:15, they close western Union service at 8pm. I called them and they said it's in route to the bank. It would take 2 days and there was nothing they can do. I was livid, he needed this money TODAY!! I drove down there again. Thank goodness Teresa was still there. I spoke to another worker and Teresa overheard the story and came right over. Two workers were working together on this now. Both were surprised and never heard of this. They called western Union and said "this is unacceptable, let me speak to a supervisor, this is an emergency, this is what you're going to do," telling the agent. I thought I was the Mama Bear from hell when something happens to my kid but she was the mama bear! Right before my eyes I was witnessing a super hero in action. She was professional but fierce. She managed to cancel the transaction and re-send it so he can receive it in cash. I was in retail for over 7 years and I know what it's like. Never in my life had I experienced that level of amazing customer service! I am forever grateful for her speedy resolution. I am full of awe. That would make a great movie scene. All throughout this she was handling customer's problems and quick transactions. It was like she had 12 hands. Don't ever let her go unless you promote her to corporate management. She deserves a promotion. Even though this Safeway is busy with lots of students and not always have enough checkers, I will never forget this. Thank you thank you thank you Teresa. She helped me yesterday 9/3/23 at 5:13 pm and again at 7:15 pm. Ashley was the other associate, she was extremely helpful as well, she was in customer service too. I'm close to tears I'm so thankful.

Great products, food is always fresh. The staff make me feel welcome even when I come in the middle of the night. Sometimes things are out of stock but everyone is usually very nice about it. Place is very clean, too.

I've been waiting at the deli for 15 minutes and there were three people working, but evidently only one person is capable of serving me and he's been tied up with one customer for all of this time. Maybe management could out of the box and instructor other employees to be more helpful.

The staff at this pharmacy has always been polite and friendly to me. I have been coming here for a few years now and my only regret is that I hadn't left this review long before now. So to all of the staff at this pharmacy....thank you for always treating me kindly and non judgmental, it is very appreciated.- Todd J

Fuck this place! I stopped going here because of the no cashiers, long lines, crappy customer service, and the fact the rip you off on certain "deals" that ring up at a different price!

I usually only review local businesses, not chains. But today, my life changed. My roommates birthday was today, and she brought home to share with us a slice of the Safeway red velvet cake. Now, I am not usually a fan of red velvet cake. Just not that impressing to me. But one bite of this Safeway red velvet cake and I had myself a ratatouille moment; the moment I took a bite, my soul left my body, and was transported to my youth, back to the last time I was happy. It was the best cake I've ever had. I will never look at the world the same. Please do yourself a favor and give the Safeway red velvet cake a try$5.99

I decided to stop in on our trip home to stock up our medicine cabinet, as well as our pantry, so when we got home we wouldn't have to go grocery shopping. They had some great deals for club members and the staff were very helpful and sweet! I would highly recommend this 5 star worthy location for all your shopping needs and I'll definitely be returning when I'm in the area! SYOY! :-)
