Come for the wine, stay for the...wine... Duh... It's a wine bar. Also, how come they have better deals on stuff that I'm buying on futures basis from the importer.

Amazing menu with wine list. Delicious and after the renovations made, it's a wonderful place to have nice treat.

They recently closed the restaurant side of this place, but the wine bar is still very nice so long as you grab a spot outside. I like grabbing some wine and cheese here the most! They still have a good bit of hearty snacks and appetizers, so you can still go there for wine while having a small bite, which I love because I like eating something with my wine usually lol. Kind people working, though no one wears masks anymore. I usually order a glass or two of the NV J. Lasalle champagne, which is pretty tasty. It is a bit dear in price ($18 a glass), but I'm a sparkling wine person and I don't love a lot of their other choices. There is a slightly cheaper Aldo Viola "Brutto" glass of sparkling wine for $14 a glass (which is about the average price for their wine by the glass), but I don't really like it and would rather pay the extra four dollars for a glass of yummier wine of the Lasalle. I will say it does make me limit myself here, I only get one maybe two glasses when I stop here, never more because the price is just a lot per glass. I've also bought a couple of bottles of wine here before, which were good, but they don't carry a lot of yummy sparklings or white wines IMHO, but I have a pretty out of the norm palate, so if you love reds, this place is def awesome. I've gotten the Soif Cheese Board many times before, by myself or with a friend (and I think even to-go), and it's still really good. It's no longer presented on a pretty board the way it was when the restaurant was open though, but still the same yummy items, just comes on a plate now. Still yummy cheeses (my fave is the Manchego El Trigal - also got the Deer Creek Vat 17 Cheddar and MarinFrench Cream last time), sweet and fresh grapes and apples, delicious spicy roasted nuts, quince paste, and toasted baguette. My fave combo is the Manchego with some toasted bread and a piece of apple or a grape. The quince paste, baguette, and French Cream also taste delicious together. There are options depending on how hungry you are or how big your party is: 1, 3 , or 5 cheeses to choose from. I usually just get three cheeses, mostly because that's enough for me (and a friend), but also because I don't really love two of the cheeses, e.g., I'm really not a fan of blue cheese - I'm sure you could request double of one of the other cheeses instead, but three is still good for me so I've never bothered to ask). I also ordered the Liberty Ducks Ballotine (just google it lol) last time as a snack, which comes with pickled veggies, mustard, and toasted baguette (in case you couldn't tell, I love bread). Ngl, I had no clue what I ordered when I got it, but I love duck so I figured it would be good, and it was. Eating a bite of the duck dipped in mustard, with a piece of bread and pickled veggie was delicious. Very filling too for $10. It was a special though, so not sure if they'll always have it. I also enjoy the seating outside, and it's nicely spaced, even when it's a bit busy (there was a wine tasting going on when I went last time so a good bit of people out there). I felt super claustrophobic inside though, they kinda packed in some tables into the wine shop that used to just have space to walk around for looking at wine. I'll probz never eat/drink inside there, but there were others inside that were fine with it. Because of the packed feeling inside though, kinda wish they had a better payment system set up so you didn't have to go inside to order another glass, and pay again. They no longer have table service, which I get since the restaurant is closed now, but maybe an online way or something so you could just pay your entire bill at once when you're done without having to go inside. Still like this place a lot! Wish they had a bit cheaper wine options, which is why I come here less often than say Flower Bar, Bad Animal, or Birichino (all which are within walking distance from this place). I usually just come here when I'm feeling a cheese plate with my

OMG have the crab salad appetizer. The wines were nice too - but the food steals the show.

4 stars for the food 5 stars for Dee Dee and her wine program. She recommended a bottle of wine that was exactly as we described. We also visited the wine shop and she recommended some great take home wines from local, smaller producers. She opened our eyes to great Californian wines from the central coast and we are forever grateful.

Best dinner ever!!! Unfortunately not enough people supported this restaurant during covid and it has closed now. I am so sad. Tom was a brilliant chef. Well he still is, just not at Soif anymore. ?

Soif never disappoints. We entered with anticipation of this being our last visit to what has been a wonderful community gem. We are so sorry the restaurant is closing, but the establishment will live on as a Wine Bar and retail for an eclectic and very special location to sample and purchase extraordinary wines. We encourage all who read this to definitely make Soif a destination.

Unfortunately, Soif is closing this month, so we had to go one last time.wine options were excellent. Parpadelle noodles and sauce were perfect along with wonderful cauliflower soup as first course. A little chilly...even with heat lamps outside.

This is a beautiful restaurant about to close. The service has always been over-attentive, the food over-priced with tiny portions. The wine list does not impress me and last night they were pouring 2 ounce classes at a minimum of $14. I will miss it for the Monday night gypsy jazz performances featuring oysters. Sad to see it close for that!

The restaurant was very cold. I had to keep my parka on. The oysters were a bit fishy which should never happen. The cod and pasta were very good but more like appetizer portions versus entree portions. The food is extremely expensive for the size of the portions. The wine was fantastic. We had 3 drinks not a bottle. Overall, we had a nice time but left hungry and $200 poorer.

New Years. Portions a bit small for some dishes but not all. Outside needs a tent and I do understand these are trying times. The steak was amazing!!! The squab was missing seasoning and some richness.
