Visiting from out of town and my husband picked this place. As a studio Ghibli fan I loved the art on the walls. It was very creative and welcoming. We ordered rolls that were super good. The prices vary but I felt like they were affordable for a nice night out.
This place is an absolute gem of Santa Cruz. I've been coming to Santa Cruz for over 20 years and my hubby lived in that area for a few years. Everytime we go we end up in the typical tourist spots like the pier despite wanting to try something new. We randomly saw this place and pulled into the parking lot just before passing it. The staff were friendly and especially helpful and considerate of our 1 year old son. The food was all SO DELICIOUS. It came out in a timely manner and there was an abundance of options. Can't wait to go back. They do close on the earlier side but well worth it for an early dinner.
Kid-friendliness: They have a few highchairs and more kid friendly bowls for their miso.

Super cute & fairly priced Japanese restaurant in Santa Cruz! Their interior is covered in incredible Ghibli-themed black board drawings. Their agedashi tofu, miso soup, and dragon roll are absolutely delicious! Their lunch deals are also very worth it. Definitely recommend!

Came here for the first time after driving past it all the time. The food was pretty good, I did some sides /appetizers and a roll.
I ordered: Takoyaki Sweet Potato Fries Tempura Roll
Over all the experience was great, the place is a tiny bit cramped while i stood to order but I'm sure you'd be more comfortable sitting. The decor is cute, chalk drawings and little pictures here n there.
The food was good. My Takoyaki didn't have any bonito flakes and had very light sauce , not sure if it comes this way or if I was done this way because I ordered Togo. The sweet potato fries were a bit soft and I think they'd be better if they were on the crispier side but they were hot and came with a delicious sauce. The Tempura roll was good.
