Love Vallarta for their years of good value and amazing salsa bar, and chips (when fresh). Their staff however seem to have a history of machismo conservativeness. Over the years I've seen stink eye and unsafe looks from staff. Vallarta needs to realize this is Santa Cruz and we respect all people. I recommend some training for staff cuz no salsa bar is worth childish high school behavior where customers aren't welcomed.

Taqueria Vallarta has a few locations here in Santa Cruz and this one is the more dine-in friendly of the two. My friend and I came here after a long night out and I was happy to find some plant based options here for myself. They have a veggie friendly menu that has a lot of options that can be easily veganized by removing the cheese. Fortunately, their beans and rice are vegan friendly here (and not cooked in lard or meat stock), so is safe to consume for plant based eaters. You order at the front and receive a number for your order. If paying with card, there's no space to provide a tip, so feel free to leave one in cash or ask to add on to your purchase if you'd like. I went with their Vegetarian Burrito ($9.49) without the sour cream or cheese, and because it included guac, it was the clear winner out of all the other options. A simple burrito wrapped around a spinach tortilla for no extra charge - my kind of ham. My entree also came with a side of chips where I wholeheartedly used the salsa bar to jazz up.

Stopped by for lunch and really enjoyed the food. I got two asada tacos and an horchata. Tacos had a good amount of meat on them, and the horchata was very good. I also got free chips with my order. They had three different types of salsa, two red and one green, I loved one of the red ones which was the spicy one! My food was ready very very fast. I was still grabbing the salsas and lime when my food was already ready! Service was good and the employees were nice and helpful! It wasn't too busy around the time I went, and was able to find street parking just around the corner!

I went there to have lunch. Choose a burrito. You can't go wrong. There is a children's menu. Delicious cooling drinks

This food is lame, damn people eat such lame cooking. The carne asada has no flavor at all, beans are dried. For all I know these cooks are gardeners or construction workers but, no cooks at all. Spend $12 dollars not coming back here unless you are in a rush and want to eat tasteless food come here..
