I am modifying this review because the great bartender that won best bartender is only there one night a week now because she opened another restaurant and works there five nights a week.
The red room is Great fun! And Juli is a Great bartender! Evidently she won best bartender in Santa Cruz in the Santa Cruz magazine vote. Clearly the two negative reviews are from people who did not respect the history, ambience or atmosphere at the historic Red Room. The last one is clear that she was not interested in going through the front doors so she was obviously primed to find a negative experience and do a negative review. Too bad, there's lots of fun to be in Santa Cruz for tourist and out of towners if they just lighten up and enjoy the moment.

Super sexy place looks like a brothel in New Orleans. Christina is the most astute bartender that I ever met. Simply the best.

We left. Bartender was too busy chatting it up with friends in the afternoon. Sucks because we had good memories from last time we were there several years ago.
Looks like a nice place but the bartender was very rude and arrogant.

Red room is the best. Cheap beers and the dopest bar tenders.
No food. Just great booze, great service, great chill atmosphere.
Great drinks and bar service
Good vibes, great drinks, better music. Had a good time here. My party has two different drinks each, all very different, but all delicious. My only disappointment was that we couldn't stay longer.

My friends and i were looking for a quick place to grab a couple drinks before a show.
I dont normally leave reviews unless i feel compelled one way or the other.
This place is very cool. Im sorta a sucker for early 20th century architecture / style but on top of that the staff are really prompt with service and drinks were well priced for the area.
