We ordered takeout from here so I can't say much about the service or ambiance but the food - pleasantly surprised with the quality and the low price point doesn't hurt. All the vegetables were fresh and everything tasted really good in as much "Americanized" Chinese food goes. I would definitely order here again.

We stayed a couple nights in town and tried this restaurant, since it was close to where we were staying, by the Wharf. There were ample, traditional choices that fit our interests. We had ginger beef, shrimp egg foo yung, chow fun chicken, sweet and sour chicken, shrimp walnut, pork fried rice, potstickers and egg rolls. It was all good. Nice crunchy chicken in the sweet and sour, perfectly done shrimp in the shrimp walnut with lots of sweetened walnuts, noodles were perfect and loads of chicken. Good size portions for a family meal. The fried rice could have used some oyster sauce or more meat and veg, but the rice itself was tasty. Overall, a good and satisfying meal, and we would come back if in the area. Almost forgot, here are a few pictures after my teens started to dig in!

if you're craving some bomb af chinese food you need to look no further!!! this was the best chinese food i've had in YEARS! my partner and i visited santa cruz for the night and decided to stop by yan flower for some takeout. i must mention that this place is an absolute gem. from the moment i walked in, i was immediately transported to some of the sweetest memories of my childhood. the ambiance was the perfect accompaniment to our meal. the lanterns, the calendars, the plants, everything about this establishment absolutely hit the spot!!! the woman we spoke to was an absolute sweetheart! i wish i had gotten her name to shout her out on here. we ordered takeout (which was also extremely easy and user friendly) and she greeted us at the counter. she hooked us up with all the extra sauce, napkins, and utensils (and fortune cookies ) and even asked us if we were walking to make sure the bag was secure for our journey home. i hope she has a wonderful day every day :') now, for the food. we ordered shrimp chow mein, sweet and sour pork, and salt and chili pepper calamari. sweet sour pork ($10) : 8.5/10 no frills, very tasty. pork was tender, sauce was flavorful and well balanced, breading was crispy! shrimp chow mein ($11.50) : 7/10 lacked a tiny bit of seasoning, however was cooked to perfection! salt and chili pepper calamari ($14) : 1000000/10 this was a show stopper, and hands down the shining star of our meal! insanely flavorful, super crispy, and absolutely hot every single spot! not too spicy if you're sensitive to spice! the portions were huge, and even after our journey home and a quick zap in the microwave, this meal was an absolute treat. we gladly tipped and enjoyed every part of our meal. thank you yan flower for making our trip so special! my partner and i will be coming back to santa cruz soon just for another trip to yan flower

The chow mein and potstickers were good but the tofu was overcooked, more brunt than crispy. The prices were very reasonable, only $35 for two people including tax and tip.

The food was not edible. The meat was rubbery and disgusting. My friend and I ordered so much food and threw it all away. I am only writing this review to help warn people because I wish the reviews were more honest when I looked. The red flag should have been when I saw them serving the food in the restaurant on paper plates. AVOID!!

I ordered wonton soup. The portion was huge relative to the low price. The soup was flavorful and the veggies were really fresh. The wontons were full of meat and also flavorful. The service was quick and friendly. The bathroom was very clean.
