The best bread around with so many creative flavors. They use high quality ingredients and you can taste it. Great atmosphere inside and out along with friendly and knowledgeable staff.

Everything was so tasty ! Fresh and warm in the warming. Wish there was more parking but it was an easy walk from the dog park.

Just popped in for a couple chocolate chip cookies. They were good. Very good. I'm still thinking about them. I might dream about them tonight. I want more. They were very, very good.

tl:dr - that was the single best loaf of bread I've ever eaten.
In 2020 I started baking sourdough bread with my wife and we got reasonably good at it. Good enough that people requested our bread. Even our ***best*** loaf, like the PEAK of our baking capabilities, pales in comparison to what I just ate.
The bread has presence, landing perfectly between too heavy and too light, right in the sweet spot of airy with substance. The texture is legitimately perfect. The crust is not too thick or hard that you can't cut through it easily, and not too flaky that it isn't there. Everything about the execution of the loaf is perfect.
I had the Jalapeno Cheddar loaf, and my wife bought the Everything loaf. We were not disappointed. If anything, we were shocked that bread could be elevated to this level.
If you're in Los Osos or Baywood and you're not buying this bread, please consider checking out betterhelp.com or talking to your therapist to make sure you're okay.

I buy Caliwala loafs from Sunshine Health Foods store in Morro Bay. I am obsessed w/ the Rosemary Olive Loaf & my boyfriend loves the Jalapeño Cheddar loaf. You will not want to eat store bought bread ever again. You will dream about these loaves.:)

I tried both the samosa and everything croissant and was impressed with how flaky they were on the outside and soft on the inside. Also, the sourdough flavor really shines through. The samosa wasn't spicy but was a touch sweet, which was interesting, but still good. I'd go back. Maybe for the sweet pastry next time.
Best sourdough bread ever.
The sourdough scones are to die for. Such a cute bakery, the staff was so friendly and helpful. A must visit if you're near by!

Welcoming vibe? Friendly service? Really? Arrived Sat Feb 8 3:30. The person behind the counter was having a conversation with someone when I entered. I said hello. They continued their conversation (not about bakery items). Looked at the breads I wanted to purchase and was ignored. Didn’t feel comfortable interrupting their conversation and say i would like to buy some bread. I was patient and not in a hurry. Walked out never to return I’ve never had an experience like this before anywhere and am compelled to write this review out of kindness to offer the following feedback: When someone walks in, please say hello back and if you are busy, suggesting you say, “I’ll be with you as soon as I can”

Great local bakery with amazing bread and pastries. Owners are kind and knowledgeable!
This review is going to be a little bit different, I haven't been to Caliwala in probably 4 or 5 years and back then I believe it was called 3rd street bakery. My grandma used to take us here every weekend when we would come visit her (it was part of the reason I enjoyed visiting my grandma). The owner at the time was a very nice man who was always made it a special when we would visit. After many years of visiting a few times a year my grandma invited me and my 3 best friends to visit for our 12th birthday. She had planned for us to visit the bakery and have the owner teach us how to make my favorite (focaccia). My grandma moved away and I found out that the owner had passed years later. I visited again in 2021 and when I walked in with my siblings we were greeted by a wall of pictures of us! The owner had put up many pictures of us with our grandma and of the time we visited for my birthday. The new owner had left all the original pictures and it was a very special moment for us. The bread was just as amazing as I remembered it being when I was a kid. I have plans to bring my fiancée and show her what a Saturday morning used to look like for us. Please go try this bakery, it is full of history and stories and truly fantastic bread. I think there's something magical about being able to support a business like this one.

How did it take me so long to find this local gem? Best kept local secret ever! Well everything they make is exquisite. And the folks that make it happen are likely the friendliest people I've ever met. They know the names of all their loyal customers. Such a pleasure!!
