This place is super tasty. I ordered a small turkey bacon ranch and a chicken and dumpling soup. The food was super tasty and i was sad when it was finished. I highly recommend the soup. It tasted like pot pie filling. Jose worked at the register and was so friendly and attentive to the customers coming in. The atmosphere was decent for a sandwich shop. I'll be back.

Recently had the opportunity to try Firehouse Subs (at the Santa Maria location) for the first time. Curb appeal for the establishment is good. First impressions as we walked in were pleasing. The place is spartan, but modishly furnished and the walls fashionably decorated with signage. We were greeted as we walked in and subsequently helped at the ordering counter by Mikayle. I have a loyalty account w/Firehouse, but after ordering and paying for the order found that our purchase points were not applied due to the fact that Mikayle failed to inquire/acquire our information and enter it with our purchase. As with Yelper's who have previously reviewed, we also had a BOGO coupon which we used to introduce us to Firehouse Subs at this franchise location. Mikayle did her best, bless her soul, to rectify the situation, refunding the order and more (don't know how that worked out for the business) but then ended up giving us the wrong receipt...which I had to use to give a survey on our experience. The whole experience at the register was not "seamless" and cause us quite a bit of confusion and frustration. I reported this on the survey and received a response from the Franchisee (Derrick), who used my verbiage written in the survey to mock me...writing (about my survey response) "quite frankly it left us confused and frustrated". In an email I explained to Derrick/Franchisee, my professional experience and the fact that loyalty/reward programs are a common practice among businesses looking to retain/promote Clientele. In my professional career capacity...my first reaction to being informed of an experience such as this, would have been more...contrite, perhaps inviting the patron back for a "do-over" of a first experience, but this Franchisee chose instead to mock me with my own words. Just sayin!Okay...as for the product/Sandwiches...we ordered a Smokehouse Brisket on Garlic Bread (5/5 - beware: we were not informed that the Garlic Bread carries an extra charge) and New York Steamer on Garlic Bread (5/5). The Sandwiches "carried" this review, because the taste of the proffered product is really quite good. As for the amount of meat given therein...another Yelper said Jersey Mike's gives them more....do they...hmmm, I'm not weighing in on that dear review reader...give them both a try and decide for yourself. So there you have it...on this occasion, Firehouse Subs in Santa Maria truly earned this "highly recommend" for the product and "go if it's calling your name" for the Franchisee's weak response to being informed about our experience 4 Star review.Post Review (10/1/23) and now this,The email Derrick/Franchisee just sent me...(since he wants to share everything!)...Hey Phillip,I think you have completely misunderstood everything I have been doing and have attempted to do. To which my reply is...Derrick, you have attempted to "do" nothing. We all know it is hard to teach an old dog new tricks, and in your case I was trying to help you personally with your customer service attitude. Contact with you has made the whole experience a dismal one. But that's totally okay Derrick. I am sitting in the smallest corner of the smallest room in my house with your email in front of me, soon...it will be behind me. Best Regards,Unfortunately Derrick...the 1 Star review rating doesn't make me feel better, it is what you deserve, you earned it. Sad. Hopefully it's a learning experience.Be well.FINAL COMMENT: Yelp review readers...Derrick/Franchisee has reached out to me (10/1/23 - evening) and has graciously resolved all issues. Therefore, on this forum, in front of you...I thank him for that. Again, if you read my original review (and care), Firehouse Subs in Santa Maria actually earned a "highly recommend" 4 Star review! This is reflected above.

EDIT: I am revising this review's score to 3 stars for the time being. The initial 1-star score did not reflect the quality of the food itself. I hope the order preparation issues can be worked out such that I can replace this with a fully positive review in the future.ORIGINAL:I love their sandwiches, but I've had to give up going there because the kitchen cannot follow instructions to save their life. It's disheartening to feel like a "Karen" and send food back every time you visit, but when you order something without X, Y and Z, and the sandwich comes out with X, Y, and Z on it every single time, there's not much to do but stop going.I gave it a shot today with a DoorDash order. See my picture. All the things the ticket says NO to are included. It's almost comical at this point. I give up.If you want their sandwiches exactly as they come by default, you'll be fine. If you want to leave anything off the sandwich, good luck to you.I waited so many months for Firehouse to open. I'm just so sad.

Dropped in to check out the sandwich spot. Very helpful cashier. Fast service and pretty good sandwich. Great alternative to other sandwich spots. Will be coming back.

I'm as much to blame as the next person. When I am in Santa Maria, I tend to satisfy my chain restaurant craving. This time I tried the newly opened Firehouse Subs which I've read so much about through other Yelp reviews. Upon entering, I was greeted by Saige at the register. They were very patient with me being a Firehouse Subs newbie and answered the two questions I had. One question was the various sizes of the sandwich (small is 4 inches, medium is an average sized sub, and large is roughly a foot long). Upon checking out, I was asked if I was a nurse or other first responder because they offer a discount. It was kind of a giveaway since I was wearing my work scrubs. I was also asked if I'd like a pickle which I appreciated because I don't care for them and hate simply tossing it directly in the garbage when automatically included. Additionally for those with gluten intolerance or celiac, they offer a gluten free bun option. My carnivorous self was wanting a beef or corned beef sandwich. I ended up ordering the Smokehouse Beef & Cheddar Brisket. It came out fresh and hot on a super soft bun. The cheese and mayo were nice editions, however, I found the beef to be saltier than I like. The BBQ sauce was pleasantly sweet with the tiniest ever spice and managed to balance it out. While dining inside, I saw the various signs stating how many dollars have already been donated by the franchise to US Firehouses, plus replacement of outdated equipment including lifesaving equipment including AEDs, bunker beds, helmets and more. Additionally, each Firehouse Subs has a hand painted mural front and center. There are plastic helmets for kids to wear. If you would like an empty Pickle bucket it costs $3 versus throwing it away. All in all, great touches for a franchise/chain restaurant.

I love Firehouse Subs!! I'm so happy Santa Maria has a location now. Super convenient spot with lots of parking. They have a great selection of subs to choose from, plus the option to make your own. The best part is the pickle on the side! I love their spicy Cajun chicken- super flavorful. I also appreciate that they have three different size options to choose from for their sandwiches. This particular location has both indoor and outdoor seating. Our food came out quick and the service was excellent. We'll be frequenting this spot!

Pretty good sandwich, got the firehouse Hook and Ladder and Italian. Got both on Wheat, both were tasty, had lots of meat. I preferred the Italian over the Hook and ladder. This was a takeout so the presentation of the sandwiches in the box was visually great. Customer service was great, they greeted and had my sandwiches ready to go. Again sandwiches are good but I still prefer Subway over Firehouse.

Grand opening wahoo! We've been wait and let me tell you it's worth the wait. We went to Firehouse all the time while living in Texas and it's so nice to have one here. The sandwiches are great and the ingredients are fresh and tasty. The sandwiches can be prepared warmed and lightly toasted or cold. You can choose from specialty sandwich or choose the build your own option, which is what I did. They have a touch screen soda fountain with an option for everyone. There is limited seating inside and a few tables outside. The owner was there greeting people as they walked in along with the employee who is taking orders. They play music lightly in the background and you don't have to wait too long for your order. Kids meals come with a cute fireman hat and the kids I've seen come in have really been enjoying that. These subs are better than any chain restaurants sub sandwich we have here in town. Yum. We are for sure going to be regulars here. Wonderful grand opening Firehouse, we will for sure be back.
