My wife and I occasionally return to Santa Maria to visit family since this is where I am from. The Thanksgiving holiday brought us back here this time. The turkey day feast came and went but since we were here back in red oak country, I wanted a good steak before we returned to the Bay area. On our previous trips we used to frequent the other “steak” house on north Broadway. But the last 2 visits were very disappointing as you can see from the review that I left them. It had been a while since we visited the other steak house on south Broadway, Shaw’s. My 20 oz Ribeye steak was like night and day. It was juicy, seasoned well and grilled to perfection as was my wife’s salmon. The rest of the accompanying dishes were great as well. Our server Rosie was the best. She was very knowledgeable and even gave us a short historical insight into the fire that occurred a few years ago that we knew nothing about. My wife, being an architectural buff, was wondering if the ceiling in the main room was original. That’s when Rosie chimed in. Her knowledgeable and attentive services were well appreciated. All in all, I believe that we have found our new steak house to visit when we are in town. Great service, great food and great atmosphere. Thank you so much.
Wow is a mild description. This place takes BBQ to a higher level. The beans alone makes this place stand out. The meat is amazing and the sausage is to die for. Not sure if they serve anything bad..

Was here for lunch with a friend and had the burger which is one of my go-tos. Fries are hot and crispy and they shared their onion wings for the win!
Simple amazing
Food was very delicious. Service was great.
The person their was so nice when they messed and gave us 100 dollars of free food and a 60 dollar dessert and the food was good
We're from St. Louis and were road-tripping to Pismo Beach when we made a special detour just to experience Santa Maria-style BBQ—something we can't get back home, especially the tri-tip with pinquito beans. After a bit of research, we chose Shaw’s Steak House, and wow… are we glad we did!
From the moment we walked in, the experience was warm and welcoming. The hostess was friendly and attentive, and our waiter went above and beyond—he even helped me select the perfect wine pairing for my meal.
And then came the food. Absolutely incredible. The tri-tip was tender and flavorful, and the pinquito beans? Worth the trip alone. They even brought out a relish tray to start, which was such a fun and delicious touch. I was so curious about the beans that I asked the waiter, and to my surprise, he checked with the cook and shared a general recipe with me—how generous is that?
The portions were huge, the quality top-notch, and the service impeccable. Shaw’s wasn’t just a meal—it was a highlight of our vacation. Highly recommend putting this place on your itinerary if you're anywhere near the Central Coast!
Went with friends after the BIM FEST that was held at the Santa Maria BMW Dealership event. All were pleasantly surprised with the results. Granted the restaurant was busy, and the host warned us it would take an hour, but it ended up being only 26 minutes. You could tell it is a popular restaurant. Great bar experience, a quality pour from the bar. We ordered appetizers, the poppers. Very good! I ordered the short ribs with a side baked potato — arrived with a plate full and they were very good and tender. It surprised me that they are prepared with a dry rub— we all shared the ribs because there were so many. It was a hit with the group. We will definitely try Shaw’s Steakhouse again when we happen to be in that area!
We have always loved Shaws until today. We were treating a friend to lunch and she ordered the special sandwich for today. When it came it was not properly prepared having very little meat and missing the green chile. She ended up not eating it and asked for it to be taken off the bill. The manager said no. Definitely an unsatisfactory experience for today’s visit.
I love this place, and the boys are such gentlemen.

Been here 2 times, both times waited a very very long time for food. They leave the skin on the chicken breast sandwich which is enough for me to not wanna return. The chicken is good though, and the gentleman who waited on me was very kind and professional.
