HORRIBLE service!! super slow, nonchalant, as if the server could barely be bothered. It took over half an hour just to order, and the restaurant was almost empty. Many details of the order were overlooked. The restaurant is also freezing cold, which makes dining uncomfortable.

Outstanding spot for those looking to find excellent quality food in a little more of a quiet and easy going spot. Angel, the Chef brought out our meals, on this first visit I tried out the Wagyu Braised Short Rib, just do it, if you like short Ribs these are prepared beautifully. So tender, plated with a “potato pancake” like none I have had before, very deep flavor in the potato's after soaking in a bit of the sauce from the ribs. Also tried the Garlic bread, healthy portion and very tasty! My wife had the Radicchio Salas with steak, again prepared perfectly, loved both dishes! Our waiter, Chris was really cool, great recommendations and pointed us to a couple of great desserts, Flan and a fried banana dish that resembled a hush puppy with salted caramel sauce and fruit compote. Both were very good, Flan was the star for me. Highly recommend this place, food is off the charts wonderful, inside the Viceroy hotel, which is well worth a look the next time we stay in Santa Monica. I highly recommend Sugar Palm!

This review is for dining inside and I imagine that dining outside would have a better atmosphere. Overall this is a pricey hotel lobby restaurant with ok food and slow service. It would be great for a quick lunch meeting spot but not for anything more than that.

Will never go back! Somehow found out online that this restaurant carries menu for dogs and would love to take my puppy to try. I also called ahead to confirm if they carry dog menu and Clau-dia responded and confirmed that they do in fact have a menu for dogs. And so we made a trip excited, so was our dog!!! The restaurant was quite empty on a holiday week but that's ok. We got seated but as I only saw regular menu and not a dog menu, we asked the server for a dog menu.. he looked at me with surprising eyes then said they do not serve dog menu and in fact they stopped serving dog menu 2yrs ago!!!! Whow that was very confusing and surprising...not to mention DEPRESSING! We took a trip all the way to this restaurant, excited, and we even did our due diligence by calling ahead to the restuarant to confirm if they serve dog menu. What have employees been doing at this hotel restaurant? Absolutely ridiculous, not to mention the laziness, absolutely zero communications (how can the dog menu be discontinued 2yrs ago yet an employee did know!!!!!!), poorly managed! We had to leave immediately...ruined our day

Didn't know that this place was inside a hotel...we booked for a 12:45pm brunch and there was just us and a couple seated at the other end of the table. Food was fantastic, had the dutch baby, chicken and waffle, and the prosciutto flatbread.

Outstanding experience that combined service, environment and food in a pet friendly way. Will certainly go again as they made us feel welcome with our pet from the minute we drove up to the water bowl at our table. Nice patio and great menu for lunch, brunch........might even consider staying at the hotel in the future.

While Viceroy is always my hotel, I did not love Sugar Palm for dinner. Great ambience, style, and vibe. Excellent service. I found the Dinner menu limited. The food was presented beautifully but mid range in flavor and quality. We also enjoyed breakfast which was spot on and delicious. They just need to refresh the dinner selections.

Good find for a graduation dinner with friends. Easily accessible and parking was complimentary valet. There were a few vegetarian options that were all good, especially the gnocchi and the charred cauliflower. The broccolini was good except for the stems which felt a little too hard. Would recommend this place for a nice, quiet dinner.

Nice little cafe, located in a boutique hotel. Valet parking was the only choice, but it was free and convenient. Pretty standard fare offered, would probably return, but so many options in this area.

Cute spot in the bottom of a hotel. Very cute cabana and beachy feel while still being fancy! Foood was great and service was awesome. A little pricey for sure but would visit again.

We went there for Mother's Day 2023. Ordered the family waffle and French Toast with fruit plate, Family Pototo Bacon and egg plate, Avocado Toast and Devil Eggs. We only ate some of each and didn't take any Togo as it wasn't any good. You can find this type of good at Dennys. Also service was day dreaming the entire time. We had to ask for plates, refills, and get extra napkins ourselves. Over priced. Other reviews must be fake.

They made it an easy and enjoyable experience. The size of our group kept changing and they were very flexible. When it was chilly outside, they offered to move us inside. Our server was attentive and warm. The food was eclectic and delicious.

We dined during DineLA and I'm so glad we did. We wouldn't have been able to try all the amazing dishes because we don't typically order an appetizer and dessert, just an entree each. I can't say enough about how delicious EVERY dish was. I literally tried everything on the menu except for the octopus (I don't eat Octopus ever) and the Shawarma (only because we had already tired the Masala and we wanted to experiment with another dish, but I'm sure it was amazing too.) We sat outside and the ambiance was perfect with the fire pits and heaters and twinkle lights. We'd be back in a heartbeat! Please participate in future DineLA events!

The location was inside the Viceroy hotel. I was thinking that we were closer to the beach. Our waiter was very polite but he got most of our order wrong. The chicken wing were over cooked. Maybe we just picked the wrong day to go to this restaurant

We went Christmas Day for breakfast/brunch. The food and service is delightful. The inside seems refreshed. They could really do a great business if they made Sugar Plum a “not to be beat” grand breakfast buffet. Make the food selection bigger. Santa Monica needs a top notch breakfast buffet. Please. ❤️❤️❤️
