Stopped in today after a long drive from East LA to grab a bite with a friend at Cava, and overall it was quite the experience.
I personally love Cava because it’s one of the few places where I can eat comfortably without stressing about my food allergies. Today did not disappoint when it came to flavor, my bowl was absolutely epic.
I ordered the Greens & Grains Bowl ($12.45) with Super Greens, Saffron Basmati Rice, Roasted White Sweet Potatoes, and Roasted Vegetables. I added regular hummus, Harissa, Roasted Eggplant, Fire Roasted Corn, Pickled Onions, Sumac Slaw, Persian Cucumber, Tomato + Cucumber, and Balsamic Date Vinaigrette. Every bite was flavorful, balanced, and satisfying.
My friend also ordered a Greens & Grains Bowl ($12.45) with half Harissa Honey Chicken and half Roasted White Sweet Potato, Super Greens, Saffron Basmati Rice, Tzatziki, regular hummus, Roasted Eggplant, Roasted Corn, Pickled Onions, Sumac Slaw, Persian Cucumber, Tomato + Cucumber, Lemon Herb Tahini; plus a side of Classic Pita Chips ($2.85). She loved the flavor combination and was genuinely impressed with how delicious everything tasted. However, she did mention multiple times that the portion of chicken was very small, only a few pieces, and wished there had been more protein to better balance all the toppings in her bowl.
We both opted for water cups, as we drink water.
A couple things stood out:
• Neither of us received the complimentary pita that is supposed to come with the bowls (it’s even listed on Cava’s website when ordering). • I was also charged for pita, which added to the confusion since we were already meant to receive one with each meal. • The total for both bowls and the pita I was charged for came to $32.89.
Service-wise, Alex was wonderful. She listened carefully to our orders and was friendly throughout the process. The restaurant itself was clean, and the restrooms were well maintained, which I always appreciate.
The only other drawback was the atmosphere — the music was quite loud, making it hard to have a conversation without raising our voices or asking each other to repeat ourselves.
Overall, the food quality and flavors were fantastic, and I’ll continue to come back because it’s a safe and reliable option for my dietary needs. I just hope next time the protein portions are a bit more balanced and that the complimentary pita situation is handled more clearly.
