4 assorted donuts / 1 glazed, 1 reese peanut butter, 1 cinnamon sugar o-nut (cronut), 1 nutella strawberry o-nut - 5 ⭐!DK's Donut & Bakery in Santa Monica is an excellent, family-owned 24-hour donut shop and cafe that has been in business for over forty years. They have a mouth-watering selection of fresh donuts, including an impressive assortment of cronut inspired donuts.Their little shop is in a small strip mall in Santa Monica. I had no trouble finding parking right outfront. The shop has a colorful, pink-focused theme. They had an outstanding selection of donuts on display in their glass cases as well as a nice, large menu board offering up all kinds of snacks, drinks, and sandwiches. The four donuts I sampled on my visit to DK's were fantastic. It was honestly a very hard decision. I had to limit myself to four because when I buy donuts, I have very little self control and know I am going to eat them all the same day. Besides, donuts are always best when they are fresh. The strawberry nutella cronut style donut was amazing. Lots of rich, hazelnut spread flavor mixed with strawberry. The plain glazed donut was top notch. I always try to get a plain glaze and use it as a baseline. A great plain glaze donut is always a treat for me. The cinnamon sugar cronut and the peanut butter cup donut were also great.I know there are other "DK" donut places out there. This one is a real treat and I think it is the OG one. If you are in Santa Monica or are passing by, make sure you stop by and support a great local business!

Where’s the owner? I don’t think the girl from the best of LA interviews would be happy with how the business is being represented.Waited 5+ minutes to be acknowledged and no greeting when I walked in the store. One worker behind the counter at the register, she was sitting on a bucket with her back turned to customers eating pork ribs and watching YouTube videos. I get it’s her break but go in the back because it’s off putting to be eating ribs at the counter of a donut shop. The girl who helped us actually scowled at me when I said I like to buy donuts. I was shocked but chalked it up to some crazy cultural difference- maybe being obnoxious is the norm where she came from… kinda like how if you’re from SoCal it’s the norm to vote against your best interests and elect leaders who promote theft and homelessness. When it came time to check out the girl helping us wasn’t paying attention because she didn’t give us all the donuts we asked for. When all was said and done 8 donuts was $28+ dollars. I guess ridiculous prices like this are the norm now but I’d think if you have the nerve to charge this much you would at least have nice workers and be paying attention to your business.I’m not saying I will never come back but I won’t be back for a while. Too many top tier donut options in LA to watch someone eating ribs at the counter. Honestly, if this place closed it wouldn’t be missed. It’s not the same experience as when the girl started getting g hype in the food scene.

Consistently excellent donuts. I’ve been going here for going on 7 years and still love them to this day. Their newer interior is lovely as well. My favorite donut is on the simple side - powdered cinnamon - but I love it!!!

Classic donut shop with a couple of wacky additions (Oreo, ube and matcha). really tasty donuts. Lovely and efficient service. I've been going for years and it never disappoints.

Still Heavenly after all these years. I had breakfast with a life-long friend at DK's who has heard me rave about this place, since it opened, decades ago. The daughter of the owners, whom I originally met at a Beverly Hills' Chamber meeting where actress, Tippi Hedren, introduced the assembled to the family that immigrated from the war zone (Vietnam & Cambodia) to escape persecution & take part in the American Economy by purchasing a franchise. Tippi delivered a similar presentation to the Hollywood & the Santa Monica Chamber of Commerce the following month! I spent a Summer, as a member of Santa Monica's Junior Chamber, washing dishes & utensils at this DK. I'm proud to say that the #29 Avocado Omelette is still as flavorful as ever. It costs a few dollars more, but it's still a bargain! And, rivals the flavors of omelettes made by Michelin famous chefs at a fraction of the price! And, you can eat it in the privacy of your car!

I had heard of DK's somewhere before I actually found myself in LA. I didn't plan on stopping by initially but it was the only promising place within walking distance from the superchargers so the plan was put into motion. They had a good assortment to choose from and many Asian-inspired donut flavors. I decided to select one butterfly taro, one red velvet oreo, and one #onut hole. The first bone I have to pick is with pricing. There are no prices listed for any of the "specialty" donuts, for all intents and purposes I'll say that this refers to all of the donuts in the display case closest to the door. The sign on the wall said individual donuts and then a range, I planned on paying cash so I naturally assumed the two donuts I got would both be priced at the top of the range, plus the #onut hole which had the price listed. Somehow my total came out to be $10 for two donuts and the #onut hole, so I had to pay with my credit card and take the hit with the $1 fee. I normally don't like to bring dollar amounts into and talk too much on cost with my reviews, but shady pricing tactics is not something I'll let slide. The second bone I have to pick is with the quality of the donut dough. The taro glaze had good flavor to it and the butterfly itself was edible rice paper, but the donut underneath tasted stale. It was one of the worst raised donuts I've had in a while, and I would not consider getting this again especially at the price that I was charged. The #onut looked very promising in the display case and I read a lot of other reviews recommending to get it. The glaze was far too sweet, but the croissant structure within was relatively impressive. I might recommend this to someone who really likes their sugar, but personally I wouldn't get this again. I've never been a big fan of cake donuts so I'll spare everyone my thoughts on the red velvet oreo. If you must stop by to try DK's, at least do yourself the service of double checking on item prices before reaching the register.

My husband and I recently watched a documentary about the Cambodian community's donut shops in SoCal and NorCal. It hit close to home for us since our parents worked at donut shops, and we have fond memories of donuts. The documentary featured DK's, which was very inspiring. While watching the documentary in SoCal, we noticed that DK's is open 24/7, so we decided to drive 30 minutes to Santa Monica for donuts at 11 pm. I purchased a dozen donuts of various flavors, and they were beautifully decorated and delicious. They had a unique texture and flavor that was different from the donuts I had in my childhood. My taste buds were happy! The prices were reasonable, and the staff was helpful in assisting me in deciding what to try. With so many different flavors, I wanted to try them all, but I knew that wouldn't be good for my waistline. I highly recommend DK's. It's a fantastic local donut shop that you should support.

This place is mind-boggling. I do not recommend going here hungry. You will definitely over buy, I bought 24 donuts for 3 people - whoops!!! The selection is just insane you're going to spend 20 minutes just figuring out what they have and another 20 trying to figure out what you actually want to put in your donut box ?. Also, if you want to learn a little more, watch the documentary about DK's Donuts it's pretty good. It makes the experience of going there that much better.
