Great food, even better service. Not too busy during the week before noon. Chilaquiles are one of my favorite dishes.

My family has been eating at Gilbert's for over twenty years. Love their breakfasts and dorado tacos. So glad they made it thru Covid and now have a lovely outdoor patio as a result.

Hurry for the best Mexican breakfast! So glad I chose Gilbert’s for the delicious everything from the warm, homemade chips with sides, soft tortillas and holy frijoles. Having tried several Mexican restaurants during my visit this was hands down my fav! Loved the outdoor seating, great service- met the founder’s daughter, whose parents from Guadalajara, started it 50 years ago. Good coffee too! Will for sure return when back in Santa Monica! Muchas gracias!

A Santa Monica Institution
Fun friendly staff with a great atmosphere. The photos on the walls of the patrons really make it feel like your local spot. I’ve been here countless times for over a decade. Diablo salsa is my favorite on planet earth. I have had my birthday here three times and have always had a blast.

We were going to go for a show at McCabe guitar shop, had not been there in years. We wanted to find someplace close. Gilbert's El Indio was less than 1/2 mile away, so it was walkable! I read other's reviews and all looked positive. So we thought we'd give it a chance. What a great call! Service was amazing and the food and drinks were great! So happy we tried this place! Any time we are in Santa Monica, I definitely will revisit.
